  1. I have cracked the touch digitiser on my HP laptop 15-ae146tx and I was wondering if I bought a digitiser for an envy 360 or an m6 or whatever, whether it will work. They look pretty similar, so I can't find a reason why it wouldn't. The LCD is fine and doesn't need replacing. Please don't comment 'you might not be able to fit it'. I want you to answer just the question I am asking. Thanks. Does it make any difference if the digitiser is for a laptop with an LCD of different resolution?
  2. I have just built an HTPC from second hand parts for around $110nzd The system contains a 7970, a 128gb SSD, 8gb of pc2-6400u, and a 2.93MHz core2 duo. I have noticed that many console ports work fine, especially codemasters games, but games like project cars fail to run. I want to play gta V, and it works fine at 720p with lowest settings, but looks pretty shotty. I want to know what settings I can increase in GTA or other games that will not cause much usage on the CPU. edit: I didnt know Steam was frozen in the background and was using 90% of my cpu while I was testing gta. I will have to test it again later.
  3. I usually run a ps/2 optical mouse from my mouse ps/2 port, but after plugging in a trackball mouse, the PC refuses to boot. I have tried the mouse in a different computer, and it works fine. I have tried the mouse in the other ps/2 port, but it doesn't work in that either. I think I need the drivers for it, but I will need some kind of aftermarket one, because it will be literally impossible to get them for my motherboard.
  4. core 2 duo e7500, SSD, a TV card, an optical drive, and 8gb ddr2. http://powersupplycalculator.net/ says that 409W is recommended if you call my ga-965P-DS3 a standard mobo, but 450 if you call it a high-end one.
  5. I said 1.x, not 1x. Do you know if the 400W is enough? Coolermaster's calculator recommends 500W for the whole system, but I heard that they overestimate a lot.
  6. I am thinking of buying a cheap 7970 second-hand. The TDP is <225W. I know that pci 1.x gives 75 watts, and an 8 pin connector gives 150 watts. adding that up gives 225 watts. I want to know if the 6+2 pin connector is exactly equivalent to an 8pin in terms of wattage, and if having 225W to a 225W tdp card is safe or risking it. I can buy a molex to 6-pin if it is necessary, I just don't know if it is necessary. My PSU is an FSP 400W 80plus Silver. Do you think this is sufficient?
  7. Sorry I forgot to reply to this thread. @everyone, Windows 10 keeps the product key on the cloud based on the hardware ID of the system. I reinstalled from USB as a fresh install and it was activated automatically. I believe the same is for windows 7 too.
  8. Can someone tell me how to log in to windows if there are no administrator accounts on the system? Or how to do anything? Why would it even allow anyone to reset windows without any administrator accounts?
  9. It says there are no administrator accounts on this computer. Is there a default sign in or something that it is asking for?
  10. I bought a computer off of someone, and it has windows 10 activated. I tried installing graphics card drivers, but the system crashed and now it is bricked. I reset the windows of the PC, but I can't get in because it requires a password or something that i was never given (and I feel like was never set, perhaps windows is corrupted somehow). Is there a way to reinstall windows without needing to get another product key? note: The PC can't go in to safe mode.
  11. Thank you. This fixed the XP issues I had after the BSOD issues.
  12. The solution was to hunt down a bios update and flash the bios with USB. Luckily it is an intel board, and so there is a lot of support.
  13. I have taken everything out apart from the CPU and a stick of ram. Is there a way to load the drivers on to the boot usb or something like that?
