  1. Yes I was able to light up all leds by tying the rgb pins to ground with resistors. I'm thinking pwm is most likely used for higher efficiency and more precise brightness control
  2. I've been out of the loop for quite some time and there's not a lot of info online about these rgb headers. My motherboard doesn't have any rgb headers but I have a coolermaster masterair pro fan that comes with a standard 4-pin rgb connector. What is the pinout of these things and what type of signal is coming from a motherboard or rgb controller that controls the led? Edit: It seems that the pinout is 12V-G-R-B. How is the brightness, hence color combination controlled? I assume it is most likely done through duty cycle/pwm but I can't see how it is done in a common anode config of the rgb header. Is the pwm signal supplied through the respective G, R, B pins? Does the fan motor and leds share a common cathode/ground through the 3 or 4 pin fan header? OR Are the G-R-B pins connected to a low-side switching circuit on the motherboard or controller?
  3. They could be silent if you run them slow enough but they would be moving little air.
  4. Try reseating the cooler and make sure all the push pins are fully latched. Use the right amount of thermal paste.
  5. What are your ambient temperatures and how's your case ventilation?
  6. Great news. Performance improvements are always welcome. I'll just wait for the official release for my OP2
  7. Rotate the cooler so that the fan blows air to the rear exhaust fan. "Hot air rises cold air sinks" is not that important in cases because it is a small space and there is forced ventilation.
  8. No you do not but it makes filling the loop and doing maintenance a lot easier.
  9. He has a watercooler. How can the Hyper 212 be any better?
  10. It doesn't matter which PCIE power cable goes to which graphics card. It's still going to end up getting connected to the same power supply.
  11. Calling bullshit on this one. Everyone can hear 3d audio (binaural) even with a pair of shitty earphones.
  12. Same thing happens with my power supply sometimes even when my computer is plugged in but not turned on. It's just the coils (inductors) that are vibrating and making the sound.
  13. My PSU is a very good unit according to reviews and it also buzzes. Sometimes it buzzes on light load, sometimes oh high loads and sometimes it does not buzz at all.
  14. If you bump it too high you could damage your card but that likely won't happen unless you use a custom bios that allows you to go nuts with the voltage. It will also result in higher temperatures and possibly lower lifespan.
  15. If your monitor is working properly, it shouldn't be a problem. It's likely just the switching circuits making the buzzing noise. The same thing happens with graphics cards, power supplies and other electronics.
  16. How the heck does one come across free GPUs?
  17. I'm not visiting as often anymore after the site upgrade. Things have been loading slow. This especially affects me and maybe others with slow connections. There are even times when just quoting or editing a post takes a long time to actually get anything done.
  18. Just get a cable rated for the voltage in your country. That would be the old power supplies with passive pfc. Modern apfc supplies have universal voltage input range.
  19. You will still need to step-up and step-down the voltage from a UPS to be usable for a computer. That in itself is involves losses. You will also need to recharge the battery once it is drained. Another step that involves losses. Modern PSUs are very efficient that it is the best way to power a computer.
  20. I already have an SSD but an extra one sure is sweet.
  21. I'd say fuck it and just kill me. I really don't fear death.
  22. Doesn't help the fact that there is always that one idiot in solo ranked
  23. Don't bother with solo ranked. Been there done that. Much better to play ranked with a team you know who plays well.
