    ODAC or Amp/ODAC

Not with these headphones, no. And don't even read rcarlos post above, he's spouting non-sense. Unfortunately, a popular trend these days is to pretend to have knowledge in something when all you really did is read about it on the interwebs... If you hear noise or crackling when listening on your computer or if the sound isn't loud enough at 80-85% volume, than you can start looking into amplifers and DACs... but if the sound is loud enough and there's no audio disturbance, don't bother.
  2. For gaming in particular? Not really... the AD700x might be a BIT better but at this point, it's a matter of preference and different hearing. Depends if you want closed-back or open headphones though... if you prefer closed-back than the Audio-Technica M50x will be a better fit for your needs.
  3. He's using ebay.in so probably India and around USD$100-$150 considering the price of both these headphones. Usual recommendations at this price range (you will need to find a cheap microphone to go with these): Sennheiser HD 518: http://www.ebay.in/itm/Sennheiser-HD-518-Headphone-/251538436257?pt=IN_Head_Phones_Head_Sets&hash=item3a90dbf0a1 Since India prices are pretty inflated, this is the only one I'd truly recommend <$150. If anyone else wants to chime in and search on the indian ebay for a better deal, go ahead but try to refrain recommending "gaming headsets" please...

    ODAC or Amp/ODAC

That was in case he already had one or if he "absolutely" needed virtual surround other than Razer Surround
  5. I wouldn't spend a $1,000 on your new audio setup if I were you... You never really experienced music with real headphones so I'd start with only a pair of headphones easy to drive with your motherboard (without a DAC/AMP). Examples: Sennheiser HD202 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LPTAYI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=headfonia-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003LPTAYI Audio Technica M-50 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZG9TMA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=headfonia-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004ZG9TMA Shure SRH-840 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DP8IEK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=headfonia-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002DP8IEK If it's for gaming purposes only, you can consider the Sennheiser HD 518 as well as the M-50 above: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-518-Headphones-Black/dp/B0042A68R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408722782&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+518 Then, when you really know what kind of music you like, when you know if you want more bass, more mids/highs or a neutral sound, you can go ahead and buy more expensive headphones that requires an amplifier.

    Ants on my Electra

This thread man... 1. Clean your room/apartmANT/house, put Raid everywhere, inside and outside. 2. If you're sweating to the point of attracting ants, you might want to look into products that prevents sweating, lose weight or clean your fucking self. 3. ... There's no 3. actually.

    ODAC or Amp/ODAC

A DAC's only purpose is to convert Digital signals to Analog. Your onboard audio or sound card already has one so if you want one just because you heard it was better, you've heard wrong. Your headphones aren't hard to drive either so an amp is completely useless here. Stick to onboard audio or sound card.
  8. Ohms and sensitivity don't really matter, they only tell you how hard the headphones are to drive.
  9. It's not ruining shit, it looks even better with the case imo... the phone's design is nothing special. And if you live anywhere outside the US, you have to pay import taxes and higher shippinge fees so yes, it's around 500$.
  10. WTF lol... an accident can happen at any moment, I'd rather pay 20$ and have peace of mind rather than breaking a 500$ phone.
  11. Please don't give advice to people if you don't know what you're talking about. The ASUS Xonar Essence STX has got an output impedance of 10 ohms and the Sennheiser's HD 800 have an impedance of 300 ohms. There's no way in hell that the frequency response will be disturbed by a mere 10 ohms. It would take at least 40 ohms to even start hearing an audio disturbance. This soundcard is also able to drive up to 600 ohms headphones so again, it will be able to drive the HD 800's fine. Now, will a DAC/AMP like the ODAC and O2 make a difference in the perceived sound? It's for him to tell... To OP: Try them with your soundcard and then go into an audio shop and ask if you can try them on a dedicated DAC/AMP. If you don't hear a difference, you won't need any one of those things. If you do, then you can decide if it's worth the price.
  12. Should be perfectly fine, it's a really good sound card.
  13. Sennheiser 518: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-518-Headphones-Black/dp/B0042A68R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408722782&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+518 Zalman mic: http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408722814&sr=8-1&keywords=zalman Under your budget and infinitely better than any "gaming" headset you can find at that price range.
