  1. i think Gsync is worth it, playing at max settings i rarely stay at 120fps and for me you can tell everything is smoother when you are below max fps. and yes if you plan on using a nvidia card you need gsync and not free sync
  2. a 120 rad wont be enough to cool a OC'd (or stock really) 8700k
  3. its a known bug in this release, no eta on a fix
  4. open the case and try to gently wiggle it a bit, it should not move if it moves and is loose you should take it off and reapply paste and re mount the cooler
  5. with that motherboard you can also update from the internet, go to tools > asus ezflash then update from web, it will reboot then go back into the flash utility and search for a update
  6. I have to run my 1080Ti in a lower pcie slot (supposed to also be 16x also but despite being labeled that asus has different ideas and only runs at 8x) and i have no issues whatsoever performance wise
  7. the thread is almost half a year old but damnit i solved it!!!! so in addition to all the troubleshooting i did above i bought a second monitor (same as first) and i convinced myself that there had to be something wrong with the mobo pci power delivery (it made sense in my head) so i went out and upgraded to a 8700k and a asus z370 board.... the issue persisted. having done everything except rma the card and having to solve the issue to justify the purchase of essentially a new computer to the wife i did the last thing i could think of. i re flashed the bios to the card. 3 days no issue, somehow from the factory the bios was messed up just enough to be incredibly annoying but still technically run fine. this is a dead thread but it is solved!
  8. well this will be the next thing i will try, currently trying a different display port on the video card because for some reason i never tried that.
  9. Hello, So i just upgraded to a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition, and put it on a water block (full block from EK) temps are great maxing out at 49C . the problem is sometimes when i start a game it will say no signal on my monitor for a few seconds then show a few seconds of the game then back to no signal, rinse and repeat. this is always solved by playing in windowed or fullscreen borderless window which is strange because the card is still working 100% with no issues.. I have tried DDU to reinstall drivers, a new displayport cable, switching PCI slots, updating motherboard bios, switching to a dedicated 8 pin and a dedicated 6 pin power cable vice the 8 + 6 pin pigtail, changed display scaling options in the nvidia control panel and on my monitor, reinstall of windows (not full disk format just refreshed with the option to delete all my stuff) reset all my overclocks to stock and i think thats all i have done so far. Hardware: Intel i7 4790k Asus Z97-a mobo 2 8gb sticks 1600 Mhz kingston ram EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition (card bios version 86.02.39.00.90) EVGA supernova 1300G2 psu Windows 10 fall update When it works (and here is another weird thing) in a fullscreen game, i can play for 12+ hours with zero issues. at this point i am at a loss for what could be the problem and have taken to the power of the interwebs for help. EDIT ok so after opining up a rma ticket with evga i decided to try a third display port cable, seems to be working... not sure why the cable that was shipped with this monitor and a 4k monitor i have would not have worked but knock on wood this will last
  10. Thank you for making all the video's you guys make, i have found myself spending hours on youtube sometimes in a seemingly endless linus loop which i have to say is not a bad thing Next stop 10 million!
  11. well, i tried pretty much every version i could find, in the process of formating back to win 7 and see if that solves anything, kinda paranoid since the fans blowing from the rad, and the rad itself are always cold to the touch i thought they would at least be warm so not taking any chances. First non air cooled anything so im paranoid lol
  12. the version im using is 2.7.5339 and is newer then the one posted in that thread
