  1. I already did. Furthermore, Windows can find the files if I set it to search for music or videos or photos specifically, if that's what I'm looking for. Did you read my post at all, or just the title?
  2. That's not the case. If you read my post, you'll see that Cortana being enabled or disabled has no effect on my issue.
  3. Hey guys, having a bit of a troubling issue. I disabled Cortana through the Group Policy editor, and now I only search my PC, instead of using online results as well. (This does not affect my issue.) When searching my indexed drives, the results of other drives, (videos, music, games.) do not show up unless it is set to that category specifically. I've created an example below. I would like to be able to search my computer more easily, but I haven't yet found a fix online about this. Can anyone help? I have the latest public build of Windows 10 Professional. I've indexed everything on my C;\ and D:\ drives.
  4. Unfortunately RGB lights are unable to produce a "pure white" light, and the bluish hue is the aftermath of this fact. It cannot be fixed, and there is nothing wrong with your unit.
  5. The Quadro FX4800 doesn't appear to be on the list of supported GPUs for Premiere Pro CC.
  6. The vulnerability is not in a recent update or program, but in the design of Windows itself. The article is saying that there is no "new" vulnerability it uses, and it simply exploits a design flaw in the Windows OS design. This is not a single piece of malware, and anti-viruses do not pick it up, because this is a flaw in Windows, not on the side of malware but rather the OS itself. This is not unique to a single file or exploit, and any virus could exploit this flaw in Windows.
  7. If they do not re-brand another manufacturer's product, or outsource the work, then likely not. The amount of R&D, investments and such that would og into starting a new line of hardware would far outweigh the potential benefits that Intel would see from entering the market.
  8. This is not getting the attention it deserves, and I apologize if this isn't the "right section" for it, but this is big. Source(s): [thehackernews] [reddit] Apologies for the lack of a header image, but I didn't want to use a generic stock photo. What do you guys think? This is not a hoax, as the source code to recreate the vulnerability is supplied in a link from the reddit comments, and users have demonstrated the vulnerability inside of VMs. Thoughts?
  9. After disabling all of the power saving features, I simply set my CPU voltage to 1.225v, and adjusted the CPU ratio from 29 to 34 for a 4.3ghz OC. My BCLK was 127.3 for my RAM though, so depending on your BCLK, your CPU ratio value may vary. This is a good first step towards overclocking your chip!
  10. Hey guys, I could really use some help. Yesterday, I flashed my BIOS on my ASUS X99-A/USB 3.1, as the version I was running was from September of 2015. That went well enough, and ultimately resulted in no issues... Or so it seemed, I suppose. After flashing my BIOS and re-setting my overclocks and preferences, everything was working fine, and for the most part has still been fine. However, an issue I had many moons ago has resurfaced. During Skype calls, if I attempt to turn on my webcam (Logitech C920) after a few minutes of using the camera, all of my USB devices -- including my eHDD, mouse, keyboard, gamepad wireless receiver -- will all power down, followed by the Windows disconnect noise. Then they immediately power back on, and I'm met with my eHDD popping up as if it was just reconnected. I've tried to reinstall my USB drivers, I've moved devices around, and I've restarted my PC a handful of times. None of this has worked. Outside of enabling my camera on Skype, the only other time it seems to do this cycle is if I unplug or re-plug things on the rear I/O. This also happens regardless of whether my ehDD is plugged in, and regardless if I am using my USB 3.1 ports or not. I am running Windows 10 Pr 64-bit on the latest version, all of my drivers are up to date, and all of my hardware is in my forum signature below. Help?
  11. Damn it. I looked up and down and up and down and up and down that list to make sure. I guess when your title isn't straight to the point, it's easier to miss. My bad.
  12. Source: zdnet.com 60TB?! That's absolutely insane! I don't care if it takes five-ten years for this to reach consumer level. The fact that we're reaching these sorts of densities already is absolutely incredible. I... I don't know what to say. This is absolutely crazy, guys. Thoughts?
  13. Alright, here we go! PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($237.89 @ B&H) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($106.99 @ Best Buy) Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($169.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($58.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($90.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.00 @ B&H) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card ($429.99 @ NCIX US) Case: Fractal Design Define S w/Window ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($72.98 @ Newegg) Monitor: Acer GN246HL 24.0" 144Hz Monitor ($191.19 @ B&H) Keyboard: Logitech G710 Plus Wired Gaming Keyboard ($125.99 @ Amazon) Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse ($59.99 @ Best Buy) Total: $1693.98 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-25 00:09 EDT-0400 The idea behind this build was to combine both aesthetics and performance while staying under the $1,700 budget point. The i5-6600k is plenty for gaming at 1080p, or even 1440p, and the GTX 1070 from Gigabyte has all of the horsepower you'd need to game at such a resolution. While not the nicest 144hz panel on the market, the Acer GB246HL offers a good middle-ground between high refresh rate, and what many suggest is the maximum physical size for 1080p. The board itself leaves little to be desired at this price bracket, and with 16GB of RAM on board, there's little it wouldn't be able to handle on the multimedia side of things. No build is complete without a solid state drive, and as such this one is equipped with a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO, complemented lovingly by the WD Black 1TB from Western Digital. The case and CPU cooler is what will turn heads however. The Define S from Fractal Design is a sleek, clean and utilitarian-esque case, and paired with the H100i GTX from Corsair, you're no doubt going to draw attention to your rig by passersby. The G710+ from Logitech boasts very nice Cherry MX brown switches fit with comfortable keycaps and a very nice and neutral white LED backlighting that will complement any color scheme. The G502 Proteus Core is any gamer's first choice when it comes to a no-frills-and-high-kills mouse, and you simply can't go wrong when pairing the two. All of this backed up by the astounding SuperNOVA GS 550W from EVGA, so you know you'll never have to worry about your build blowing up on you. For a budget of $1,700, this is the best route for a well-rounded build that makes no compromises, in my opinion.
  14. To be quite honest, I would love to win because my best friend is still running an HD7970 from 2012, and one of his fans quit working. He's been saving up money for a new card, and this would be a great birthday gift for him, which is in a month. I'm running a GTX 970, if it matters.
  15. This is most likely on your end, as most vBulletin, phpBB and other forum softwares -- which includes what LinusTechTips uses, all use standard text editors. As such, this issue, while possible being widespread, is most likely on your end only. Furthermore, have you tried recreating it across multiple machines and browsers? (If it is forum issue, it may be with a single browser, and as such multiple browsers would benefit whether it's on your end or the forum's.)
  16. Just restart your PC. It happens to me sometimes.
  17. Yes, I mean for that little of a price difference, you might as well. If only for peace of mind, you know? I paid $95 for my RM750, when the RM650 was $90.
  18. In what sense? The "650W" or "550W" is the limit to these PSUs. However, how much they use while under load is entirely dependent on how much your PC itself pulls from the wall. The wattage of your rig itself determines how much more power it uses. https://youtu.be/MPvj1cs77qA
  19. Mm, for $270 for that card, I figured it was a good bet. You could certainly drop that down a tier or two though.
  20. As I said in my post, certain areas can be impacted when people are looking for "video editing builds." If you're not truly going to be working with video, then there's some (most) hardware that's simply unnecessary. A gaming build would look something like this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($349.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($84.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($147.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($59.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($89.99 @ NCIX US) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($47.49 @ OutletPC) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card ($459.99 @ B&H) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($69.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($69.99 @ Newegg) Total: $1355.40 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-12 05:39 EDT-0400 Meanwhile, an editor's build would look more like this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($369.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($19.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Asus X99-A/USB 3.1 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($193.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (4 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($269.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($154.99 @ NCIX US) Storage: Western Digital Red 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($149.49 @ B&H) Storage: Western Digital Red 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($149.49 @ B&H) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($279.99 @ Newegg) Case: Fractal Design Define S w/Window ATX Mid Tower Case ($74.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($69.99 @ Newegg) Total: $1732.89 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-12 05:43 EDT-0400 As you can see, one build focuses heavily on RAM and storage, and a better CPU, and the other focuses more on the GPU, and cooling. These aren't the ONLY two builds you can do, but they're fairly representative of what you'd want in each area at this price point.
  21. I've always wondered this. A lot of the time, you'll see people posting PCPartPicker lists, claiming "This is a gaming / video editing build. Opinions?" It happens so much, and yet you never see a single piece of content from any of these individuals, and as it stands the editor scene is kind of barren. If you exclude "FRAPS -> Vegas Movie Studio w/templates -> YouTube" anyways. Actual editors and content creators are far and few between, and often-times the builds people tout are for exactly this. Nobody will shame you for wanting 32GB of RAM so that you can boast to your friends. Just say it so that nobody suggests a Quadro / FirePro GPU or X99 build. The i7-6700k is the best chip right now for gaming, but we still see X99 builds because they specified video editing as one of the main reasons for the build. I'm an actual video editor and content creator, and I've been editing / creating videos for almost ten years now. I've had an active channel for four years this coming November, and I use up every bit of my RAM and CPU with the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
  22. That thing would be absolutely awesome to use for movies on my wall... Or the side of my barn... Oh my god I just got an idea.
  23. Using the HDD from your laptop might throw up issues in Windows regarding drivers and such, so I wouldn't advise it. However, you can get Windows 7 / 8 (and 8.1) for as cheap as $15, though legitimate sources. If you're interested, PM me. I don't think /r/microsoftsoftwareswap is against the rules here, but just in case, I'll keep it to PMs.
