Damn, I was hoping at least for others to corroborate the issue on their end, but it seems like this may just be on my end?

Hey all.

I posted about this on reddit beforehand, but after an hour of no reply, I figured this was my best shot. It's been a long time since last I posted here, so forgive me if my etiquette isn't up to par. I took a look at the guidelines for troubleshooting, so hopefully I don't neglect anything.

My hardware. 

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (Latest Update)
Graphics Card: EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 (Latest Drivers)
RAM: 2x16GB Crucial Ballistic 3200MHz
CPU: AMD R9 5950X
Microsoft Edge: Version 114.0.1823.67 (Official build) (64-bit)

I am running Ublock Origin, Reddit Enhancement Suite & Bitwarden as my only extensions; turning all of these off does not affect the behavior.

The issue

When viewing fullscreen content in Microsoft Edge, any time I Alt+Tab away from the content and back into it, the media in question will not respond to input; play/pause, fast-forward/rewind; escape, etc. I have to manually click on the window to return it to "focus" and resume as normal. If I Alt+Tab away and return, the issue resumes.

This is not an issue on Mozilla Firefox, as I have just tested and determined. I have uninstalled the latest Cumulative Update preview from June 28th, but this did not resolve the issue.

Is this simply a bug with Microsoft Edge that needs to be addressed? Do other users have a similar issue?

I've had a very peculiar issue for an undetermined amount of time. It's not a huge deal to me since it's fairly infrequent, but narrowing down the root cause would give me some nice peace of mind if possible. The issue itself is vague enough though that I have little confidence I will be able to find it without combing through several solutions at once and being unsure which did it.

Bastion, Transistor, Borderlands 1/2, Rocket League. All of these titles have been in my rotation recently, and all of them will occasionally experience the same brief "freeze" of about half a second to one second. No micro-stuttering thereafter, no audio issues, nothing. It will simply halt, and then resume a few moments later.

I do regular maintenance on my PC - disk defragmenting, disk cleanup, sfc scans, regular update checks, and I restart it every day. In the background I have Discord, Steam, G Hub and Veam (my backup software) running. The backup software is scheduled for daily backups but otherwise sits idle, so I don't think it's that.

My specs can be found on my profile, but a quick rundown of them are as follows:

• CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X
• GPU: Zotac Mini GTX 1080 Ti
• RAM: 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz (XMP enabled)
• Boot Drive: 250GB 970 Evo M.2
• Game Drive: 2TB WD Blue HDD
• Windows 10 20H1.

Is there something wrong I might be able to fix? Is this a quirk with Windows 10? Just the nature of HDDs? I'm not too stressed about this, but it would be cool to fix it. Thanks!

That sounds like Photoshop just being stupid but could also be nvidia's stupid game ready drivers.

 

Try DDU and then installing the studio drivers because those are generally more refined or at least have less bugs and dont compromise on gaming performance.

The issue is, this has been a problem for months. I don't think it's a Game Ready Driver issue, because their Studio drivers are just held back.

I originally posted this topic on the r/Photoshop subreddit, but it got zero attention. I also tried on the Adobe Support Forum, but it got no attention there, either. I'm really hoping I can get some help with this, even if it's for a specific piece of software. 

Whenever my Graphics Processor is enabled, opening a file will take me between 45 seconds and 1 minute. This could literally be a basic, 512x512 JPEG avatar for Discord, up to a multi-layer PSD file. Zooming and panning feel smooth *once it's loaded,* but the loading itself takes forever. Panels slowly populate, the entire application hangs, and it's practically unusable until it fully loads. Once I turn my Graphics Processor off, opening files is snappy. However, zooming/panning are practically unusable with how slow they become. I feel like I have to compromise on one awful scenario or another, and I'm being charged a not-insignificant amount of money per month to make said compromise. I find this unacceptable.

Here's a list, in no particular order, of what I've tried:

• Resetting Preferences
• Running Photoshop as Administrator
• Changing Font Preview quantity
• Changing Grid Subdivisions
• Changing ALL options for Graphics Processor
• Clean Reinstalling Photoshop
• Clean Reinstalling Graphics Drivers
• Updating Windows
• Changing Recent Files Quantity
• Moving Scratch Disks
• Moving image files to same NVMe SSD as Photoshop

There might even be more I can't recall. None of these have fixed the issue. For posterity's sake, I'll post my PC's specs below:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
• Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite
• GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1080 Ti Mini
• RAM: 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz

As the title states, I'm having a very frustrating issue.

One website I browse in particular, I have an annoying issue with: after only a short time, it will stop loading images entirely, and the only fix is to either open the page in incognito, or clear my cache in my browser. Image previews won't load, opening the images in a new tab won't load, and opening the image file directly does not do anything either. 

This is such a peculiar issue, I wouldn't even know where to begin troubleshooting it. The site is https://derpibooru.org/ and I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 and the Edge Browser.

Hey guys.

I'm looking to upgrade my computer from my current case/cooler. I'm going with the Fractal Design Define 7, but I've yet to settle on an air cooler. However, I am interested in the Dark Rock Pro 4 by be quiet!. My biggest concern, however, is clearance with my abnormally-tall RAM. The Vengeance RGB Pro kit is approximately 51mm tall. The cooler itself says it supports RAM of up to 40mm in height, but the fan can be adjusted. I'm not sure if this adjustment will be enough, and I'm also not sure if the RAM notches on the tower will be tall enough for the kit. I ran be quiet!'s motherboard comaptibility checker, and it said it would be fine with my board, but their checker says nothing of RAM. My board is the Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570.

I can find very little information on this topic as I search, and I plan to order the cooler as soon as possible. Should I forego this cooler entirely? I'm focused on a mixture of sound + performance. 

Will the cooler fit in this configuration? Can the fan be moved to the rear of the cooler instead to assure clearance?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, first of all, sorry if the title of this post is too open-ended or ambiguous. I'll try to be as detailed and thorough as I can in the body.

I recently upgraded from an i7-5820k + EVGA X99 FTW-K, to an R9 3900X + Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite (Wifi). I paired it with 32GB (2x16GB) of 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro RAM.

I reinstalled Windows 10, and immediately flashed my BIOS to the latest version. Afterwards, I applied the XMP Profile on the RAM, and left everything else alone. 

I noticed that my temperatures were sitting in the mid-high 50s at idle, and would frequently jump up to 70s if I opened a game, tried playing a YouTube video, etc. My fans would ramp up and down all of the time, which itself was obnoxious. I set the fan curve for my four fans to 50% below 70C, and to ramp up to 100% by 85C. This is done via Gigabyte's fan curve manager.

I removed my cooler and redid my thermal paste application, making sure the cooler was re-mounted evenly and cleanly. The cooler is a 280mm Captain AIO by Deepcool, specifically the cooler integrated into the NEW Ark 90 case.

After that, my temperatures came down to around 45C at idle, but even watching videos will see temperatures go up to mid-50s. When playing games, right now specifically Monster Hunter: World, my CPU will sit around 70C, and peak as high as 80C. 

I've updated my Chipset drivers, I've tried using the AMD Ryzen Balanced Power Plan, and I've checked all of the voltage settings I can to see if the XMP profile set things too high. When my CPU ramps up, the voltage will go as high as 1.425v, but it usually idles around 1.125v. 

Do you have any advice? Anything I need to know about 3rd-Gen Ryzen that I haven't done?

To me, this sounds like a very good thing, and might also be why Ubisoft has been on the uptick for the last little while. Many consumers (myself included) have slowly had our perception change, seeing Ubisoft go from a great company to something of an EA mirror, to now being more in line with its former glory. If this has anything to do with it, then I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Honestly, how many more flaws/bugs are we going to find in modern CPUs? Between this, Spectre and Meltdown, I'm beginning to think it's only a matter of time before the entire modern CPU architecture as a whole is filled with holes from left to right. I know that's an exaggeration, but it seems this year has not been too kind to Intel or AMD, and Intel is just getting hit again.

Upon asking around, I'm getting conflicting results. Some users are reporting the button is fine, others are reporting it's missing. All of my personal testing has shown it to be the latter. I wonder if it's only slowly being rolled out?

Edit 2: It looks like this has been confirmed, if PetaPixel is to be trusted. It appears to be in conjunction with a partnership between Google and Getty Images.

I wanted to post this in Tech News, but as of now I cannot find any online source.

As of today, you can no longer view image sources through Google Images. Before, when viewing an image, you could click "View Image" and be taken to the page where the image is, typically resulting in a URL ending in a .jpg or .png file extension. This is no longer possible, as the only options are now to visit the website hosting the image, or to save it directly to your Google Account, which has proven difficult for copyrighted material.

Additionally, right-clicking and opening the image in a new tab will ONLY open the thumbnail; you can no longer open HD images through Google directly. You are required to go to the page host.

All images also now have a "Image may contain copyright" tag underneath them, next to where image resolution is now displayed. This appears on all content.

This appears to be true on multiple browsers, both with and without Google accounts logged in.

Edit: Upon further investigation, this does not seem to affect everybody. I've been receiving conflicting reports, where some users are missing the option, and others have it just fine. This has held true across both Chrome and Firefox Quantum. It appears this has to do with Google's Save feature.

Are you making sure you're plugging your video cables into the new GPU instead of the integrated graphics?

Have you ensured that your M.2 slot is properly enabled in your BIOS? Sometimes they can be disabled to save PCI lanes.

I don't want to insult you or make you feel dumb, but have you tried re-seating the card or monitoring your temperatures?

Some will recommend you install the K-Lite Codec Pack. DO NOT DO THIS. This has been known to cause issues with the Adobe Suite, such as crashes, slowdowns and other issues. The only solution is to reinstall Windows.

Simply transcode them with Handrbake as you mentioned, and transcode them back as necessary.

Both of these cables:
"Can only convert signal from DisplayPort to HDTV. This is not a bi-directional adapter"

I assume this means the DisplayPort signal from the GPU, but of course with English like this, you can't be positive.

Just switch which end you plug in and it'll work the other way round.

Even on Monoprice's website, they specify that the cables are not bi-directional and CANNOT be just "switched around." Is this a marketing gimmick? Because I'd rather not spend $20 on cables only for them to not work and be told "oh lol i misread that" when I ask.

I have two monitors that I wish to use, but unfortunately they are HDMI only. My GPU (the EVGA GTX 970 SSC) only has one HDMI port available, and that's being used by my Oculus Rift. My GPU has three full-sized DisplayPort ports on it, so I'd prefer to use them if possible. I have one HDMI to DVI cable, and I can use my DVI port for that, but I will still need one DisplayPort to HDMI (or HDMI to DisplayPort?) cable in order to use both panels.

However, upon searching, I am only finding cables that will go from DisplayPort on the display, to HDMI on the GPU, and they are not bi-directional. Any DisplayPort out to HDMI in cables I have found, are either $149+ adapters, or $4 cables from Amazon with 1-2 stars.

It looks like Tabs are going to be integrated into "every Windows 10 app," according to The Verge. While the above video only demonstrates its use in Microsoft Office, Microsoft is also bringing the feature to Explorer. It looks to be an integration of Edge into the current app, which for better or worse will allow users to access the web-- or even local storage-- more quickly than they otherwise might have. What concerns me however, is how they're implementing it. From the above demonstration, it looks to be more or less an instance of Edge baked into the app. You more than likely won't be able to change it for a different browser, and I wonder how this will look in the Explorer frame, for one?

Anyways, what do you guys think?

You will need to plug in more than one 3.5mm cable, yes. Look up the original packaging, and try to replace the cables it originally came with. 3.5mm cables are really cheap. The only issue might be that your Z906 speakers have soldered cables, don't they?

How exactly do you have the speakers plugged in if you're only using one of the 3.5mm plugs? That doesn't make any sense. You realize your motherboard has separate audio channels, right?

You're going to start a flame war with a post like this, and I don't see the mods letting it slide.

That being said, and without trying to backseat mod, let me say this: I do not need to read your novel to know that your point goes off on a tangent due to misconstrued perceptions caused by your total support of the PC ecosystem. 

Consoles will dominate PC in terms of players for a great many more years -- if not forever -- and will not leave the household, if not at least without a massive fight. The convenience of buying a cardboard box from a store, taking it home and plugging in two cables (power and HDMI) and being off to the races will never be matched by a computer. You need to update your drivers, install software for your games, manage a handful of programs if you wish to play alongside friends, and separate the personal computing aspect from the gaming aspect of a gaming PC. That's something we'll never see happen. 

Even if physical media goes away, just look at mobile gaming. Two taps will take you from the store to the main menu of a game. On a PC, you need to download it, install it, run it and possibly (probably) configure it. Consoles aren't far off from mobile gaming; you simply download it and or its updates and hit a single button to drop at the main menu. Yes, once the games are installed on each platform, subsequent experiences should be near-identical, but this first impression is very important.

Furthermore, you do not need to worry about your hardware being capable of playing a desired title, as on console it will always work if released for that platform. Perhaps your GPU isn't fast enough? Perhaps your CPU is only dual core and won't run the game? Maybe your drivers are causing issues with a certain title?

To enthusiasts, PC is the way to go. To your average consumer, you cannot beat consoles.

Steam's library consists of around 17,600 products, including software, movies, DLCs, games, etc.
