  1. No pics, Yeah I know its a pirate tool. Downloaded it on my pc before I RDP into clients server
  2. New posting this was going to be fun. Have you tested this software on retrieving an licence key for Office 2013 ?
  3. So it has come to my attention after dealing with Microsoft there is no way on retrieving the licence key from the system for Office 2013. I would spend the few mins writing up an script to decrypt the reg key but was wondering if anyone has this script before I create one or an recommended software Note : Belarc, Keyfinder, Magical Jelly Bean, Produkey, License crawler and SIW dont work I know the key is there, just no software I have found can decrypt it. Edit : Note this isnt for home users, for corporate enviroments. Techs before me didnt log the key for individual clients
  4. I sort of agree with the above comment but at the same time dont. My computer loads in that whole "30 seconds" but my network connection isnt the last to start up, my TFTP server is. You can change your start up via msconfig and see if there is any startup software causing this issue. Have you updated your NIC to the latest driver, via the board website ? Try use a static IP for your system as it could also be DHCP taking its sweat time authenticating. This happens to XP machines a lot. This might resolve some of the network connection authenticating with your router. Also clear your network history via netsh dump and ipconfig /flushdns via CMD. I would suggest not too tweak registry to help or do what online help recommends to stop services to speed up internet unless you just disable "Large send off"
  5. Sounds like a program is using files, but best way to determine stuff is too check task manager to see whats going on. If you are just extracting files using an unzip software then there might be an underlying issue. Have you got anti-virus on your computer ? Could you possibly run a full system scan with rootkits enabled in Malwarebytes ?
  6. I would like to help, but the best help would come from Google. Almost all wireless devices can be turned into an WAP or AP. Normally there is an feature in the UI to change it to it. Some website actually has a list of wireless devices that can be imaged too do this. Have a go at Google, didnt want to give to much help as it is better to learn it that me telling you how to do it.
  7. Prefer to use RAID 1 or RAID 10 then RAID 0. RAID 0 is not the best reliable RAID.
  8. Windows is the cheapest when you can torrent......minus buying an USB or CD...
  9. You can mess around with the internals of a HDD but I higly recommend you dont. The screws are funny enough, taught to an tension you cant get with an standard torx screw driver or bit. Plus an clean room for the dust is another issue. There is a reason why it costs a bucket tonne for an HDD repair, they have the tools we dont, those bastards !!! I have rebuilt HDD's before just to recover data, but the HDD's dont work afterwards, ever.
  10. Well yes you are safe with changing over the RAM, CPU, CMOS and PSU, but when it comes to board you are buggered. The RAID feature only applys to the HDD its created on and keeps the drivers to it. If you have no data on the RAID you will be fine, but a new board means new drivers, new RAID and a re install of OS. I know this because I have delt with this for servers. I have had onboard and PCI RAID cards been swapped with others and caused issue for a new RAID build. So yeah, mobo is the only problem if changing.
  11. You can install it on many devices, aslong as you dont get caught. Same goes with Office, just get on the phone and make up some excuse on why you are using the same key.
  12. As the name suggest, a router directs routes to your network inbound and outbound. Simple routers have simple routing protocols. Now days the term router is for business, the term Modem is the correct terminology to use for the device that sits in your home that does all three (router, switch, WAP). So you dont need a router, a modem...yes You can use a computer/server/laptop to run virtual router software for it too be a router, so yes you can An switch is almost the same as a router, except switches cant be connected to the internet. You can get layer 3 switches that have some function as a router, but still no internet connection. I would suggest to get a modem to have your internet (ADSL/CABLE/FIBRE), use that same device as a switch and have the same device again give you wireless. Unless you have a lot of devices then a switch is needed.
  13. There is a reason why there is a RAM "manual" for boards. Stick with that manual and you will be fine Infact, I have put RAM in a server that wasnt compatible and the heat from the sticks radiated so much the server kept crashing.
  14. Not going to go into major detail for it. But if you call your ISP too check the congestion on your current DSLAM, they are entitled to if asked to move your line to a less congested one, freeing up congestion and yourself getting bandwidth down the line. You can also ask them to check the line to see if there is any issues with the line. They can check the line and can tell you exactly what is on your line and the condition of it to pin point a fault. They do track where your line passess through like, how many service pits there are, how many cabients there are are e.t.c to distinguish what line performance you should be getting at the demarcation point (demarcation point is the point to your house the ISP stops at, like your home modem ADSL point) Port rebuild is a process ISP's take to reconfigure your DSLAM. Basically flashes/retrains your DSLAM. The modern DSLAM can be monitored remotely now, unlike the old ones where a tech had to go on site to check it.
  15. You can put an OS networked to your computer from the other side of the world and boot to it. There is no limits I have found to booting to an OS. So yeah, good luck :-)
  16. CONSOLIDATION <----google this word, find a software that does it. It is the best word to use in IT and will save you a bucket tonne of time But I also use SyncToy at home, free Microsoft software.
  17. Well using the boot to cd option you can actually format the drive before installing the OS during the install of Windows, if you dont it overrides the current OS causing mass problems.
  18. Not entirely true scaryjam823, you can use "SyncToy" by microsoft. I use it. You can select the folder you want to sync across to a new location. This moves EVERYTHING in the folder. So it is the best way to copy files accross and you can actually select the option to move the files accross. Give that a go, I highly recommend it, saves me time moving mass data accross my network
  19. Have you tried booting to safe mode or last known good configuration from the advanded boot screen ? Sounds like something ran in the background that caused a problem
  20. In CMD, do an ipconfig /flushdns and netsh dump. Check the ipv4 properties advanced and check if any DNS address is listed. If so issue ipconfig /registerdns. Tell me how you go
  21. Not needed, disable it. Unless you are pushing out over a gig of data to devices in your house.
  22. Ask for a DSLAM move to a less congested DSLAM and a port rebuild. Get them to check the line to see the condition of it, who noes you might have an battery on the line (water in the pit) An RADIUS check normally resolve if the line is the cause.

    I wake up to 71 notifications... well that's ne…

Yeah dont get me dragged into that, it will be a pointless "online" argument. Haha. But seriously I am just here to spread my help an knowledge
  24. Household "modems" are toys. They are a blend of a switch, router and WAP. Modem/router choice is based on features and user interface. Get something dual band with reliable wireless throughput, gigbait LAN with Fibre option and good security.
