Well now that I'll be making more money, I should get a 1080 instead of a 1070, I still intend on 1440p but, like I could eventually go for 144hz 1440p.

if 1440p 144 hz is your goal, then definitely go 1080; you'll need the power.

Also, people always calculate price/performance on the card alone but you really should consider performance of the card / price of the whole machine, and if you do that, it makes the higher performance cards look a lot more attractive.

@Ryan_Vickers Well I plan on getting an i7 7700K, 32GB of RAM. I won't get a 144Hz monitor right away. But like it's something I'd like to do.

    m.2 SSD

    MULTIPLE M.2 SSDs

Ssd only storage. No hard drives.

Well only SSD might be pushing it a bit, the 1TB 850 evo is kinda expensive.

My board does have one M.2 slot though.

But Z170 supports fewer PCI Lanes than Z270 even though I'll have a i7 7700K

    Z170!?

    Z270.

Well granted it may or may not be a "just because you doesn't mean you should " sort of situation, doesn't mean that I still won't do it.

I see no reason not to keep my Z170 board for a kaby lake CPU. It's a good board.

All the shit I said above was sarcastic.
