How are these things the promise of whats to come?

An iPad is a cut down computer, that is easy to use for the masses. I get that, I wouldn't choose one over a laptop, but I understand why some people would.

A laptop, Macbook, etc is a fully featured portable computer with a proper clamshell design and keyboard.

I don't get what the point of mixing these two concepts are. If you want more than an iPad, you get a computer.

Thats two videos in a row that are effectively advertisements.

I don't mind the sponsor spots, but I don't think there should be weekly 'showcase' sponsored videos.

Of course, I have no idea of the financials required to run what is now a fairly large organisation.

Indeed, also LAPTOP COMPUTERS exist. And you can buy second hand one for next to no money.

Video and microphone directly in the living areas, just what we need. 

The only company I'd somewhat trust with this is Apple. Their dedication to privacy is compelling.

I feel his point about the phone being a daily companion is why so many people just won't change phones. I use iphones, often when a new one comes out I'm not blown away, but they consistently do what you want them to do so you buy another when you need an upgrade. 

Most people care more about that consistency over buying for some big new feature that you'll barely use or care about.

That case is really neat. Shame about the price though, I don't see why it can't be $150.

I'm curious why Linus uses an iphone 4 at all?

He has endless amounts of phones sent to him on an annual basis, I don't get it.

The length of these are just getting absurd. They're fun to watch, but we don't need 5 hours per scrapyard wars!

Also, lets be real, air coolers have a non mentioned benefit here. They don't leak.

If that is a real benefit or just a perceived mental one is another thing, but I was always under the impression high end air coolers lagged behind high end AIO water coolers, so this has been really informative.

Also I know most of these product showcases are basically just commercials, but this really felt like a Dell commercial.

I still think the best laptop to buy on a budget is a used Macbook of some variety.

they have fantastic build quality and last forever, realistically a Core 2 Duo processor is going to be no worse than that $200 Dell for day to day use, and you can pick an older MacBook Pro 13 inch up for that kind of money.

Nice to see an AMD Dell after all the Intel scandals they went through.

I mean, spend what you like or whatever, but to me producing amazing video on semi consumer grade equipment would be more interesting. I can't ever afford to buy one of these cameras (or justify the cost of a small apartment on one anyway) so learning about it is kind of irrelevant but it would be interesting to know how you got such amazing shots on a $2,000 consumer grade piece of equipment.

It was mostly you shouldn't have to remove the HDD cage and screw them in from the rear. The fan is meant to be screwed in from the front at least what I can tell it is.

This may seem like a bit of a dense question. The 140mm fans that fractal provides are clear, you screw them in from the front of the case into a provided hole.

But the 120mm mounts aren't a hole per se but have a slit that lets you move the fans up and down, the problem is the screws that fractal provides, which are already very long, aren't long enough to go through regular sized 120mm fans and into the holes when mounting from the front (At least not the noctua 120mm I was adding).

Are you meant to remove the hard drive cages and instal the fan from inside the case? The instruction manual isn't clear.

Got my R5 system up and running, honestly the temps with the two standard fans seem quite good. But its not a high end rig by any means (1060, Ryzen 1600), nor is it overclocked. 

Ive got the case fans running on just the normal motherboard curve meaning they sit at around 700rpm during normal use. I wouldn't call it dead silent in this setting, but with a GPU and PSU that both turn their fans off there certainly isn't a lot of sound.

I heard in a lot of the reviews that you should consider adding more fans to the case to get better cooling performance, but it seems ok?

Neat. But does a mouse pad with a cord really look that much cleaner than a mouse with a cord?

I don't doubt it, but how do you tighten them on fractal cases? They have a door latch, not screws. The thumb screws they give you don't screw tight.

All four on the ground yep, nothing obstructing them. I'm not sure what you mean by huging the table.

I'm fairly sure my mechanical disks are responsible. The case gets that deep 'resonance' sound of surging, and it shuts up if I even apply a light touch on the side panel. 

I've removed the hard drives, remounted them tightly, still seems to be doing it. It only does it 'sometimes' not all the time. 

I think one of my drives, a seagate drive, is particularly bad. I'm using a Fractal case and have rubber grommets and everything.

but it interfering with a HDD sounds strange and unlikely´. most likely something else happened that time.

Thats for the best I suspect, I suspect it is the controller, as its blacking out the drives on the same sata connection.

There is a lot of data suggesting they have issues with them. I'd just steer clear and use the motherboard, I don't really see a fan controller as an added feature anyway, the motherboards are automatic.

got the same case - it doesn't work like the 1990 cases when sliding in from the back. it's more a door style these days, try to attach the edge facing the front of the case in a 45° angle and then shut the door, so to say.... hope that helps.

Thanks a lot. I suspect thats it! I thought I was doing it wrong, I just didn't know how. Not sure I like this system much.

Can I ask, is the fan controller on your one fine? I've read a lot of issues with them on here, I ran mine through the fan controller but found whenever I adjusted the speed when the system was on it caused the on hard drive to kind of 'undetect' momentarily. Others are saying they have heaps of freezing issues with theirs.

I just plugged the fans into the motherboard and was done with it.

So I recently updated to an R5.

I find the side panel on the main side (with the latch) is really difficult to get on the case. 

I've never had trouble with side panels before, they usually slide in from back to front and clip in. But this case doesn't seem to do that. Whenever I attach the case, it 'clips' in to 3 sides easily, but the bottom rear side just won't attach. I find myself taking it off and putting it back on several times to get it on.

Is there some trick to getting it on that I've missed?
