RiSource reacted to fishy in H220x/H440x NZXT S340
the case supports 2 140mm in front, so it should fit, but i think you'll have more problems with the rad/res/pump combo on the H240x/220x
i think it's not recommended to install it vertically, but i might be wrong, been a long time since i last read something about it
maybe if you have the pump at the bottom it should work

RiSource reacted to TechFan@ic in Gtx 970 or r9 280x?
The 970 competes with the R9 290 not the 280X. If you're in a hurry I'd tell you to grab a 970. However I think it would be smarter to wait and see what AMD has in store, price cuts are sure to ensue.
As for power efficiency , the aftermarket 970s actually consume about 20W less than the 290 and the 780 and quite a bit more than the 280X and the 770. Not that I think anyone should care about power consumption really.

RiSource reacted to daemonowner in Enthoo Pro and H440 Opinions
Both are excellent cases in their own right. H440 loses this in my opinion because of the airflow restrictions and rivets. The H440 is designed as a silence-optimized case, so of course it loses out on airflow. The Pro uses screws so it's more modder-friendly, it is more watercooling optimized, and has nice little things like compartmentalized box for the various screws, and cable management done out of the box with Velcro straps. Personally I'm looking to get a non-windowed Pro and add noise dampening foam. Best of both worlds.

RiSource reacted to revl8er in Enthoo Pro and H440 Opinions
I first bought the h440 but am having issues overclocking because of the ventilation. On a 4790k @ 4.5 ghz 1.25v I'm getting around 35c idle and 73c at full load with a nzxt x61. While those temps are acceptable it's still a bit high for me. I've tried switching the fan placement and removing the drive cages but nothing seemed to work. I was going to buy different fans but decided to just go ahead and get a full tower case since that's what my last case was (thermaltake chaser mk-i). I enjoyed the temps of my last build so I'm going to give this a try. I ordered the enthoo pro yesterday so I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'll probably take a few fans from the h440 and mount them on the drive bays to help with cooling, but I don't think I'll have to much of an issue. I also like how the enthoo can be taken apart pretty easily, can't wait for it to arrive. If anything I can use the h440 for an older build I have sitting in a crappy apevia case. Looks very pretty, but not very practical if you're looking to overclock and still want it cool. If you aren't overclocking however the h440 is very nice and very quiet.

RiSource reacted to Rorgash in H440? Phantom 410? Define R4?
Air 540 is better than all of those put together

RiSource reacted to NewAndreas in H440? Phantom 410? Define R4?
I feel the opposite. The 450D feels cheap, R4 feels solid and is better to build in

RiSource reacted to Aniallation in H440? Phantom 410? Define R4?
The R's are ugly and awkward to build in. 350D or 450D is better
Phantom 410 IMO. It might not be as quiet but its definitely the most aesthetically pleasing. Put some S12's or some Be Quiet Silent Wings 2's in it and you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference.
Not the R4, the Corsair R's (200R and 300R)

This says it all.
I have a phantom 410 in red, and i dont like it.
The define R4 looks plain too.
My vote is this post.

H440 is the most aesthetically-pleasing mid-tower from that list in my own opinion

The H440 isn't the best for airflow, the 300r is a good case. Or the 350d

Silverstone RV/FT05? @spwath will love me for this
Phanteks enthoo pro is a great choice, as is the Fractal design arc midi R2, both due to airflow being high, with a good amount of room for expansion including watercooling, and also allow for optical drives and fan controllers etc to be installed, which the H440 cannot support due to no 5.25" bays. Also, they have lots of dust filters, which is good for keeping the case clean. Again, they have fairly clean looks that are not too gaudy (phantom 410) and not too plain (define R4)

RiSource reacted to mcmad358 in Choosing a video card
My friend has the 280 XFX and it runs a bit too hot for me.... id get the Sapphire, more value, more performance, cooler operations
Edit: any ways, you will only see the back of the card when it is installed

XFX R9 280. 270X isn't as powerful, and the XFX runs cooler and IMO, looks better.

RiSource reacted to CowsGoRoar in Choosing a video card
Well, you buy a card that doesn't perform as well, and that lasts you for about 5 years, just for that one or two phone calls IF you ever have a problem.

XFX 280 is the best option. As for your build I would change the cooler and HDD. The 212 Evo performs as well as the Intel closed loop for half the cost. Get a Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003, they are about the same cost and perform better

RiSource reacted to Electronics Wizardy in How about a mid tower build instead?
buy K cpu if you buy a z97 mobo. And motherboard doesn't effect preformance. so get a cheap b85 mobo and them get a i7 or xeon e3 1230 v3. Its a quadcore with hyperthreading but only 250

RiSource reacted to Zeke in How about a mid tower build instead?
I use Crucial, may not be the fastest, but they work for me. But Kingston HyperX 3K is the way to go right now.
For the HDD I'd select WD Green. Seagate are good as well, I just don't remember what is their "green" line is called.

RiSource reacted to Zeke in How about a mid tower build instead?
IMO:
1) Mid tower
2) -
3) PSU is overkill, and I don't see any storage (no HDD nor SSD)
4) Fractal Design Arc R2 Mini/Midi (not necessarily better, just an alternative)
5) Z97 if you're going with K-processor, H97 otherwise
6) 650W is enough, not sure about the vendor though

Don't get an HIS GPU. Get a better brand.
