jamie.k.hofer got a reaction from Gall Cohen in Laptop for College
I am looking for a laptop for college and I LOVE the Surface Book but I have heard of a ton of software and hardware issues that would ruin the experience. Are there any equivalent products that you would recommend? The stylus is very important because I love taking notes by hand, besides the organization part. I also like the GPU I want to be able to play simple games like Overwatch or be able to use Dolphin at high resolutions with Anti-Aliasing etc.

"Some of those issues pertained to the companion Hello Barbie app for iOS and Android. For instance, attackers could modify the app to reveal credential passwords and other confidential information. The app would also automatically connect to any unsecured Wi-Fi network with “Barbie” in the name, allowing an attacker to set up a spoof network and intercept data.
On the service side, ToyTalk’s server domain was susceptible to a known SSL encryption flaw called POODLE, which could allow attackers to steal communications and other data. A credentialing issue could also let attackers probe for further vulnerabilities."
There is a bit more too it....

You thought that you secret collection of barbies was safe. They are not! People are able to intercept communications between the Barbie doll and their talk server. Does this mean that people could get recordings of their children's voices stoen?

I guess it is time to go back to a wheel and a stick for toys!

jamie.k.hofer reacted to tobben in Cancel a WU
you don't get wu's that are too complex for midrange hardware.
If you can't do it, something went wrong and we need to find out
what that is. But if you are talking about whacky estimates at
first PPD, TPF, ETA etc.. let the wu sit for abit and it will probably
sort itself out, otherwise update the thread.
You can't do something as elegant as cancelling it, but you can
abruptly dump/trash/delete it, which we don't want to do unless
you have to.

I think that is EVGA you are thinking of. They are great!!!! The decal that has the light shinning through it (on GPU) came broken and they just sent me a new one. No questions asked.

jamie.k.hofer got a reaction from aidenrelkoff in Confusion about windows 10 being free
I think that you will have to upgrade to get W10 and buying a new license will still cost money. As for the activation I think it will assume you entered a key for legacy versions and it will generate a new key and not ask for you to enter a key. -

You have the option to upgrade for up to a year after release and if you get it within that year you don't need to pay for it EVER.

Watch Linus's videos reviewing the Z97 MOBO's (NOT the budget video). They are mostly Asus boards like the Maximus VII.
