switch up that cpu and gpu combo to a i5 4690k and a gtx 980 an i7 will not really give you performance boost in gaming least not more than th 4690k that is.

@Skeith @Devil0359 only think I would say is to get the Gigabyte Windforce cooler rather than reference if you want a quieter system, and also to keep the GPU a bit cooler in those Hong Kong summers:

Go with a Gtx 970 instead of a Gtx 780.
    Beats it in benchmarks.
    Costs a lot less.
But not sure if its available right now.
    Wait for its availability.

That is the think with the 750D.  The front panel is restricting your airflow as you can see here,

Your best options are to add some fans to the top of your case if possible.  Also another option is modding the front panel of your case to be something like the 450D's front panel.  If you mess up, you can always buy a new front panel.  But if you're like me,  I don't feel comfortable doing so so maybe adding top fans to your case is a better idea.

As said get the 280 if it's cheaper/same price. It's the same chip.

But I have a 7950 from MSI (boost edition) and it's fantastic, I have mine running at 1100 mhz / 1575mhz and it maxes out every game I throw at it (BF4 probably most demanding) at 50-60fps. Often hitting higher than that if you drop AA.

If you're willing to give up OSX it might be worthwhile to just upgrade your computer. --Pick up an 8350 (assuming your current mobo can handle it) and upgrade the gpu.

So...assuming you have a good motherboard, then:
    an FX8350 and an R9 290 (550~ Euros).

Devil0359 reacted to Shaqo_Wyn in Micro-ATX Gaming PC Component Recommendations?
Yup, you need a Z77 board like this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-p8z77vlk to overclock your 3570K. There are only a handful of mATX Z77 motherboards to choose from and none of them are really great IMO. If your friend didn't think you were going to be OC'ing he should have saved you a few bucks and gotten you a non-K CPU .

In your case assuming you want to start OC'ing now, you could get a Z77 board for your current CPU and go Z97 + broadwell CPU when that comes out.

Grrr, my friend didn't know what he was doing building this thing (my current rig)!   To be fair, he didn't seem to think I would be interested in overclocking, I suppose, haha

Now I think I have to buy two new mobos - one for my mATX rig, and one for my current rig

Nice, I love the 1TB internal SSD.  Also, it seems the ASUS parts have come up quite a bit, too, I will juggle both of those ideas in my head.  ASUS versus the MSI board.

I really, really like the two gtx 660 idea.  If I built the mATX rig, I don't know if that would fit, but that would be a great upgrade for my current rig

Replace your motherboard with a MSI Z77A-G45 GAMING.
Take your stock heatsink out for a cooler master hyper 212 evo.
And add another gtx 660 to your rig.
In case of a need for a power supply add a corsair rm 650 watts.
And some extra hdd/ssd is your wish.
It will total cost u max around 500$ - 700$ max according to which one of the parts you take.
