  1. Thanks for the update. I left Twitter x Twitter a while ago so I am not up-to-date on tweets unless someone speaks of it here.
  2. So, I appreciate the videos and the apologies. The whole situation does suck but at least it had time to be dealt with and I do hope LTT does bounce back with better / more accurate content in the future. I just feel like there is still one thing that has not been really addressed, an apology / understanding of where LTT is on the issue. It's what really started this whole thing, the LTT labs tour video where the employee states the difference between LTT and Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus is they test new hardware every time. You need to know that while people believe / blame Steve for "burning the bridge" between LTT and GN, that statement the employee made is what started the flames to begin with. While yes, these news outlets are "competition", if you look at the end goal of them all they are here to give us information and help protect us from crappy products and company decisions. Every one of these outlets have encouraged us to check out other channels reviews to make a well rounded decision, something you would not hear if they were serious competitors. So what I am wondering is if we will get an apology from that employee, not to us but to GN and Hardware Unboxed, and an understanding of where LTT is after this. Is LTT going to be part of the YouTube reviewer community space again without attack (at least not without proof like Steve did), or does LTT see themselves as a loner in the space where they have to distance themselves from other channels, not associating with them anymore. I watched the "we are going on a break" and "we are back, here is what we did" videos from LTT, and I did not hear anything about training the employees that it may not be the best idea to publicly (at least seriously) attack other review channels without proof of what you are saying. So unless it is buried in the 373 pages of this post somewhere, I have not seen / heard an apology and understanding of where LTT is in the reviewer space since this, and I feel that would answer many questions on where LTT is on this in the space.
  3. Yea, I would like to see them do Scrapyard Wars in another area. Like in AZ or FL where there are different kinds of Tech reselling companies who have more than just used computers. I know a place in FL that sells used stuff from aeronautics companies. Just something a bit different in a place that would not expect a Scrapyard Wars to happen.
  4. When I was learning KDE I choose Neon, it just felt snappier, the install was a breeze, and it has everything I needed for KDE out of the box. For some reason, when going through the guides KDE puts out there were some thing that Kubuntu did not have that I had to install in order to move forward.
  5. When I first started I was big on Mate, then I switched to Peppermint, then Mint with their Cinnamon desktop, but when I went to Arch I tried Gnome and really enjoy it. KDE was cool but I am not big in to fully customizing the desktop, Gnome gave me just enough to be happy with what I have. I like the account integration, the tweak tools (like the newer twitch tool that shows when a streamer is streaming), it just seems to fit what I need. I do a lot with social media, web development, and programming and it just seems to do what I need it to do.
  6. I usually time the upgrade with both when I need to and when the holiday sales go on. For example I got my current R9 270X card during Neweggs Presidents Day sale for 80 bucks off. I may jump to the 300 series this season depending on the sales since I am looking for a new card.
  7. I really like that Aria Headset, it looks pretty sweet and has received some pretty cool reviews. I am a fan of big headphones that surround my ears and give good bass, and these seem to fit that nicely. Good luck everyone
  8. I kinda like the color changing aspect of the card. It matches the LED's on my pc, and would be cool to have an amazing card in my system.
  9. As a college student who has changed his major before (when I was getting my first B.S.) I will tell you that you first need to meet up with student support or student services, whichever it is called at your school. They should be able to tell you what can be transferred to the new major and how many credits you will loose. From there you can see how much longer you will be in school and thus how much extra it will cost you if you are paying for school. See if before you switch majors if you can sit in a class or two, or even take a few classes in the new major you are seeking out just to be sure you want to make the switch. The worse thing (and I have seen it happen before) is you make the switch just to realize it is not what you thought and your back to square one again. So long as you do the research and have a solid plan then you should be confident enough to make the switch. Also note that I have worked with many people who got one degree, started in a company, and moved to something that has nothing to do with their degree but is what they love to do. So just because you leave with a degree does not fully mean you are stuck in that job market, it just means you have to take time outside of school to learn more. So start with the first step and meet with your student support / advisors about it and get it all in order first.
  10. I am on build 9841 as well, did not know there was a new build out.
  11. Graphics card could have overheated or just decided to die. Leave it off for an hour or two and try it again. If it works for a while and does it again it could be a graphics card issue or worse... I had an old HP laptop that did that and it turned out to be both the hard drive and the monitor cable was busted.
  12. I have a 2008 Intel iMac that I use for school work, I have Office 2011 and Adobe CC on it with steam and a few games that I play every now and then. The 256mb HD 2600 is not bad, does the job. I did have linux on it with OwnCloud, but I built a new system for that. There is plenty you can do with it.
  13. Loving the preview so far. Loaded it as the main OS on my HP ProBook 6470b, everything worked out of the box but installed all the newest drivers from HP aside from the HD 4000 drivers. Using Adobe CC and Office 365 on the machine and all works well, couple of Steam games have also worked well. It's more of a workstation laptop so I will really will be using office and productivity apps on it. Love the multiple desktops but I agree that multiple start menu's would be nice as well. I did notice that if I switch from the start menu to the start screen as the default that not all apps that load when Windows starts load, so I think the traditional start menu and the start screen use different file locations for their shortcuts. Changing performance options don't seem to do anything as well for now.
  14. There are some other users with the same issue. One thing I have read is that the indexing feature freezes, so you will have to stop and restart the indexing service. The other is it reaches out to the internet to show internet search results, so certain terms pull so much it can lock up. There should be a way to turn off internet search results and it should work at that point.
  15. I am using TextWrangler for a lot of my stuff, but have been using Sublime for anything Java related, it seems to work better.
