  1. Why not install the bios via GUI? The BIOS flash button is typically only used when you can't access your BIOS Utility in the first place. It also requires that you use a specific USB port on the motherboard, format the drive to fat32 (drive must also be less than 32GB in capacity), and typically requires that you rename the bios file before it will work. I assume you already know all this seeing as you contacted support, but would just like to make sure / understand.

  4. Logitech says all their recent gaming peripherals (including mine) operate at 2.0 and 'may' operate at 1.1 but 'performance will be degraded', so screw me.
  5. I thought about interfacing several Switches but it just sounds obnoxious you know? I definitely don't want 1 button to cycle through each device, let alone cascading multiple single button switches. I really like that the one I posted earlier has a simple 8 button panel, if only it was USB 2.0 then I'd know for sure that it worked. Not 100% sure I get where you're going with a hub + a switch, my problem isn't connecting 8 devices to 1-2 hosts my problem is connecting 8 hosts to 1-2 devices. I reached out to Logitech, fingers crossed USB 1.1 is enough, if not it looks like I'm looking at around $450 for the next step up

So I was able to find a Switch / KVM that actually has usb 'hub' capability, but it's still USB 1.1: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HBGK87K/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza I've read in many places that most keyboards and mice still use USB 1.1 protocol as they 'aren't even close to saturating' USB 1.1, however I have my concerns involving my Logitech gaming peripherals, it's very difficult to find any info on whether they are USB 1.1 or 2.0. Any USB wizards out there?

I'm looking for an 8 device 2 port (or hub compatible) USB Switch, I'm using a Logitech Orion Spark & Logitech Powerplay / G903, and hoping to control 7 separate devices (2 Windows PCs, Raspberry Pi running Linux, 2 Nintendo Switches, PS4, & Xbox One). Pretty easy to find 4 device USB switches, but really struggling to find something with more device ports that isn't some jank KVM with only USB 1.1 support or that costs less than $500. I would think that a keyboard and mouse, even high end gaming ones (with custom software, wireless capabilities, LEDs, etc.) would use little very little bandwidth and a USB 2.0 switch would suffice. But maybe I'm wrong? Also assuming the switch needs external power to drive Powerplay and an LED Keyboard, but maybe they make switches that draw power from each device connected but only send data over the currently selected device. Nonetheless, I think that paints the picture, anyone know of such a device that wouldn't break the bank?

  10. I'm don't believe an adapter exists for this currently, USB-C is actually using Displayport for the video signal, HDMI to Displayport requires a powered active adapter to operate. It's possible this would work if the power was a seperate cable / adapter, but even then I'm not so sure the Display is using a straight Displayport signal or something that involves data transfer. The reason the USB-C port on your Crosshair VII Hero doesn't work is because that motherboard isn't routing the iGPU of the processor to the USB-C port, it is only capable of data transfer. I believe the USB-C ports on RTX GPUs would run that display as they support power, data, and video.

Yeah I was using a GTX 1080, so I only had 8gb to work with, and I encode around 9K60 (3 separate output files) which was using around 1.8gb of VRAM (not including other programs / displays) after all is said and done. My main gains were by offloading my mixer and the OBS preview to another display / GPU entirely, was using around 10% of my GPUs direct rendering. Results will probably be less severe for OP, but if he already has the GPU and intends to get the most out of his configuration it's justifiable IMO, considering my past experiences.
  12. You're right, games don't touch the encoder, but everything shares the same VRAM, and OBS / other recording programs dip into 3D rendering just like games. I have a similar setup, that being multiple high resolution displays with recording programs / other miscellaneous programs running while gaming. I found that after I rendered OBS and my RME virtualized mixer (TotalMix) on a secondary display running on a secondary GPU I was able to net a 10-15% performance increase in games that were fully saturating my main GPU. I would hardly call this "intangible".
  13. The 1060 isn't pointless, encoding dips into VRAM and can absolutely degrade gaming performance. That is also not to mention that he has multiple displays of varying refresh and resolution, many of which that require high bandwidth. OP can absolutely benefit from running a second GPU in this configuration, especially if whatever recording program he is using has a video preview. As alluded to OP I would run all secondary monitors on the GTX 1060 as this can offload almost all extra GPU work from the 1080ti to the 1060 (with proper NVIDIA control panel configuration), allowing the 1080ti to better focus on the game you're playing. For the best results you'll need to change settings per program in NVIDIA control panel, for example: If you're running OBS on a second monitor, that monitor is connected to the 1060, you've chosen that the 1060 be used for encoding in OBS, and you've dictated in NVIDIA control panel that OBS be rendered with the 1060 you've completely offloaded that work from the 1080ti. You should do this with every program you plan to run / display on secondary monitors while gaming on the main one. Although one word of caution - I've experienced issues while recording / streaming on a computer with multiple displays of varying refresh / resolution being handled, though I've heard others claim this has been no issue for them.

  15. In Linus's build there is still a solid 3-4 inches in between his rads / mounted fans, still less than ideal as one is feeding into the other but I would assume it outperforms direct stacking. I can't quite visualize how you're saying you'd do it in your setup but if the plan is to directly, or with very little space between, mount two radiators you'll likely be disappointed with the results: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?220874-More-Radiator-Sandwich-testing Whatever you do you should report back with results, if you have the time to test with and without the second rad. I do wonder if Linus's configuration is even beneficial, and if so, by how much.
