Omie got a reaction from Why_Me in Need to upgrade my CPU/Mobo for CyberMonday
Here is what I came up with for my new PC:

    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xkCDkJ

Compared to my old build, I added the i7 13700k, Asus TUF GAMING Z790 Plus Wifi, 2TB M.2, and 32Gb of DDR5 RAM since DDR4 isn’t compatible with the mobo and if I’m upgrading I think I should switch to DDR5 anyways. Those upgrades are going to cost me $1000 after tax.

I know the part list says the H115i cooler is incompatible but it looks like the screws will still work from the LGA1151 socket after researching.

Is there a way I can fit an i7 in there? My budget is $600

Thanks but I’m never going AMD for personal reasons.

The top panel and front panel had some cables connected to the fans and the power button on the case. But they are working properly, both the power button LED's and case fans are all spinning. So i don't think anything got unplugged. I didn't mess with anything near the motherboard.

Thanks I tested it and if turbo boost is disabled MCE only boosts to 4.2Ghz on my i7 7700k so turbo boost needs to be enabled so MCE can boost all cores to the 4.5GHz boost.

Omie got a reaction from RONOTHAN## in Settings for microstutters
Ah so those BIOS settings actually throttle the CPU to downclock itself and it's supposed to only take effect when not playing games but it can get messy sometimes. With those settings disabled, the CPU will always run at max speeds.

    Ok so good news!

I did the following in Nvidia control panel: set power management profile to prefer maximum performance, and then also set shader cache to unlimited.

Also changed my Windows 10 performance profile from balanced to high performance.

That seemed to eliminate the microstutters in League, but I’m not sure which specifically helped. May have to test it here and there to see for sure.

Omie got a reaction from Mortis Angelus in Can my desk do a double/triple monitor setup?
So I'm basically trying to go for a double/triple monitor setup, more with the triple monitor setup being my end goal.

I was wondering if my desk (L desk) can even do a double/triple monitor setup. The main problem is that my PC case is a full tower behemoth and takes up a ton of room, so I don't think I can even add a second monitor. Here is a video of my current setup: https://imgur.com/a/y21kumI

As you can see, I don't have much room to work with (ignore the Vizio TV as that will be removed, so just assume that I have free space in that area).

For my options, I was thinking of either:

    1) Purchasing a new desk that will fit triple monitors and my PC.
    2) Buying a USB extension hub and a longer DisplayPort cable (to account for my short peripheral cables and monitor video cable) in order to allow myself to just move my PC to where my Vizio TV is in the video. But if I go with this option, I don't think I'll be able to add a third monitor, most likely just a second monitor at the most. Plus, my space will look messy as I will see a ton of cables coming out of the back of my PC due to it being pushed more forward along the L desk to account for the additional monitor.

Any suggestions? Kind of stuck here.

Yeah, I figured if it was actually messed up, it would have never posted, never even recognized the card, or I would have experienced severe performance issues, like fps drops, etc. But again, the Firestrike test proved that my system is up to par assuming that "better than 97%" is a good indicator lol.  And I don't think messed up GPU pins or a damaged PCIE slot on the mobo would have resulted in the specific issue of "stutters in MMORPG's" haha.

    Thanks for all your help

I looked that up and it's nice. But the thing is it's USB only so I have to always have it plugged into my PS4. I would prefer it to have a 3.5mm jack so I could plug it into my controller and move around freely.

Yeah it just took a few days or so, mostly because I live in California so I'm near Newegg and Amazon's warehouses.

Well my build revolves around Asus Aura Sync, so I got a z270 Maximus IX Formula. It's pricey but they also offer many other cheaper alternatives in their lineup. Paul's Hardware has a video on all of the current Asus z270 boards.

Is an EVGA 850w G2 PSU enough for this build (assuming there is a significant overclock on the CPU and GPU)?:

I know PCPP says that approximately 410W is how much power it needs, but I just want to make sure.

And this is very unlikely to happen, but just in case, would the 850W G2 still be enough for another Strix 1080 OC edition to be added on, thus SLI 1080's (still assuming a significant overclock on the CPU and GPU's of course)?

I don't think you can. The h100i v2 is an Asetek pump and the firmware for those are limited compared to the older CoolIt pumps (the GT models). I believe on those models you can change the LED modes, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't think there is a way to change the LED modes on the H100i V2 or GTX series ones.

So I finally got all my parts and I'm satisfied with every purchase I made! It took me months of research and preparation but I finally ordered my parts and I'm ready to build my 2nd PC after 5 years.

Coming from an FX-6300 and HD7870, I wanted to build something that would utterly destroy my old build and my mind.

Tomorrow morning I will begin my build but before I do, I want to take the time to personally thank the community as a whole and each and every one of you who helped answer my questions and helped me throughout my build planning. This community is amazing and I honestly couldn't ask for anything better. So thanks everyone, I really appreciate the help!
