...all processors are compatible with DirectX 12, what you have to ask is if the graphics card is DirectX 12 compliant.
 
The problem is, though, the i5-4440 is better at gaming than both the 6300 and FX-8320.

That's not how gpu numbering scheme works, a gt 720 is not better than a  gtx 680

If you're using it for gaming, change the motherboard to a z97 and get 8 GB of ram. Also you can shave off some money buy getting a corsair cx600m psu, I think they're like 50 bucks

Ehm, please don't use that cpu. 

10 minutes is not even close to knowing if it's stable or not. Run it for at least 4 hours but preferably 8-12+ hours to know if it's stable. 

I 100% would not carry a metal sword around in public anywhere in the world

shouldnt be a dead board from the lack of a connector, usually they just dont power on. did you plug the EPS12V connector, and not the PCIE 8 pin connector?

When I think about it now it hardly seems worth it.

I would say: Don't cheap out on your case.
