I'm confused. You value the software support, but want to put on your own OS. That new lineage will end your warranty and any manufacturer Support.
I'm not really looking for manufacturer support, more like the official OS and security have longer support. I kinda like switching between OS so thats a plus for me. I guess im weird like that haha

My OP7 finally gave in, after I broke its display... without breaking the glass somehow
Now looking for a new phone and leaning towards a OP once again.
Looking at either:
One Plus 9 pro- has official LineageOS support.
- cheaper (New: 650 $CAD, or Used: ~500 $Cad)
- better build quality? (thx zack for bending the shit out of the 10 pro)
or
One Plus 10 pro:
- slightly faster, better camera, and batteries
- 1 more year of official support
- New: ~900 $CAD, or Used: ~750 $Cad (price is kinda fluctuating)
or
Pixel 6 pro:
- better and longer official support
- New: ~700$, used: ~600$
Pixel 7 is a bit out of my budget
tbh, I'm leaning more towards the OP9 pro, since i can just flash Lineage directly if I dont like ColourOS, and I can get it much cheaper.
Question is, is the extra 100-200$ worth it for the better hardware of the OP10 or Pixel 6?
Thanks in advance y'all

Is this store mi 1 or store mi 2?
Id just backup the volume, then make the new store mi volume, and restore all the files.

Hi all
I'm reinstalling my PC but I have a tiered drive that I wanna keep. It's not my boot drive so I wont be fromatting it but since I have to uninstall the StoreMi program, I'm not sure how to proceed with that.
I think I need to separate the tiered drive, then do a full uninstall of StoreMI, then go on with my pc reinstalling.
Just asking to be sure!
also wanted to know if the upgrade to FuzeDrive is free for Ryzen users, since AMD discontinued storeMi
thanks!

PC randomly restarted, and my tiered drive disapeared.Checked my StoreMI and got these 2 error.Never happened before and I cant find what TDISK error meanI have a 120gb sandisk ssd hooked to a 2T WD blue.It seems both disk are online and working properly according to disk manager. havent checked them individually doh.

(no idea why I had a different account on my phone but... im the OP)

If not try moving it how it was before and see the temps.
This is my second re-paste, and the temp still wouldnt come down. (sorry no picture of the first repaste doh)
I def. put too much this time, but even so it did not change anything.
I will try again tmrw with the stock ryzen cooler to see if its a problem with my AIO or something else.
Another thing I didnt mention is that I cleaned my AIO's grill with water spray, but there shouldnt be any leak since... theres still water inside (from the noise) and i didnt see any leakage.

for reference, i followed this video for the teardown/repaste.

I did a repaste of my Acer Nitro 5.
My idle temperature only dropped from 2-3C, and while gaming 4-5C.
I'm using a thermal paste i bought like 8 years ago for my first build. It's not some brand stuff but both my old and new (2 years ago) PC never ran into any thermal issues with this paste.
I know that the Nitro 5 isnt the best in terms of stock thermal performance, but i thought it woulda been better after repasting. Maybe I did it incorectly? Or should I get a new tube of thermal paste? -

I`d take the 1060 3GB version. Thats almost 100% more powerful than that 1050 mobile gpu. Undervolt the 8300 a bit & test thermals, but overall it depends on the games u want to play vs amount of time u will actually 3d model with the CPU (or maybe your app uses the gpu)
but thats just me, i like more GPU power over CPU.
Hmmm main reason I'm getting a gaming laptop is for my exchange semester which i'll be away from my tower (sniff sniff). the most id play would be some Tales games, Dota and overwatch? I don't think they require that much GPU power (unless im wrong)
The MSI is also lighter and i've heard it has better thermal too. -
Buying an used laptop.
Gonna be gaming and doing some 3d modeling and renderings on it (Rhino, Vray, etc)
MSI GV62 8RE
i5-8300h (quad core)
GTX 1060 3gb
8gb Ram
Acer Nitro 5 AN515i7-8750h (six core)
GTX 1050 4 gb
16gb ramboth has SSD so thats not an issue.
I know there are many other factors when buying a new laptop but just spec wise what do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the Acer because of the extra ram and extra 2 core
What are your opinions? -

Stock android or almost stock android. This is the only feature that was annoying me on my P9 Plus. Even with Nova launcher, a lot of settings/options were not modifiable comparing to Oxygen OS.
- I dont mind about the hardware much, as long as it can run View ER and A360 smoothly (which my P9 Plus struggled a bit).- I'd rather not ditch the headphone jack either, but I can do without it.
- Storage: 64gb at least. Expandable storage is minor for me.
- Decent camera.

Why 6GBs of RAM?
You should probably just go for an S8, it's like $250 CAD and this seller offers condition choices, good or above are usually pretty flawless.
You can just install Nova Launcher to get your phone more like stock android.
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-S8-G950U-G950U1-SM-G950U-Unlocked-AT-T-T-Mobile-Cricket-GSM/222975139381?hash=item33ea5a9e35:m:mz6lN_23thkNlOaR_PQ_EygI use A360 and view ER quite a lot and its quite laggy on my Huawei P9+ (the phone is 3.5 YO doh).
I've only looked at newer models so far, but older phones are definitively within my options. Thanks for hte suggestions!1 hour ago, BrinkGG said:I know it's technically "Older", but the hardware has not changed much since it launched: OnePlus 6.
The 8GB, 128GB variant is my daily driver and will be until someone else makes another phone with headphone jack, fast fingerprint sensor, and near stock OS (Oxygen OS is amazing and I've loved it for a long time).
I still remember the days I used to flex my OnePlus 1 on all my friend... if only it lasted longer T.T
but ya, I didnt look at older models yet, as I said previously. This seems like a nice option too! thanks! -
oh no my phone is dying :<
Been looking around and the Zenfone 6 seems like my preferred choice for now. It is unfortunately not out yet in Canada.any suggestions is appreciated!

Other phones that I've been looking:
LG V40: a bit hard to get in Canada, unsure about the OS, but i heard it's closer to stock
Nokia 9 Pureview: to much camera (lol). no headphone jack (i can deal with that), and also a bit hard to get in Canada.
Motorola One Vision: battery/power consumption seems underwhelming from reviews.
But really, I'm open to any suggestions!
Thanks in advance! -

Great. What are some good 140mm or 120mm fans that are not too expensive but better than stock?
Assuming you want something that look decent, here are some suggestions:
-Arctic F14 or BioniX 140mm: I've read some good things on them. Both are PMW and move quite a bit of air. No RGB doh.
-Fractal Design Venturi HF14: I'm using a pair of them, and they are pretty quiet. They are on the expensive side but I got them on sale. again, no RGB, and no PMW (my Mobo can control the power output so that was fine)
-Corsair ML140 (non pro): def good pair of fans that can push air into the case. Altho, they are "better suited" for radiators. no RGB
-Deepcool CF140: RGB, decent fans, PWM. probably the cheapest RGB fans thats actually good imo
You can always get the trustworthy Noctuas.

After a long debate between the Fractal Meshify Mini C and the Thermaltakes Versa H18 I end up opting for the Mini C due to a discount on it on Amazon due to my boyfriend's Amazon Prime account deal.
As a fellow meshify C user, I fully support your superior choice of case.

H500i is basically the H500 with a smart configuration.
If you wanna keep the 2 stock fans, id say keep them as top and rear exhaust, and get some 140mm for front intakewanna maximize the air flow, id say change the top exhaust to a 140mm too.
like what @goto10 said, this case is more on the feature side. But its airflow/temperature is def on the better side comparing to many other TG cases. -

Are you really sure? I mean for OCing isnt the VRM higly inadequate? Or is that just me not trusting
56 phase VRMs...Ya true, I forgot about that part. Every1 screwed up their B450 mobo except for MSI apparently.
But if its not extreme OCing, it wouldnt be that bad is it? I'm just thinking on the practical / economical side, so OP doesnt change their mobo for very little applicable upgrade.
-
1. Yes
2. Ram comparability is always a factor. your ram will always run on the lowest speed / clock if your rams are not the same3. Yes, but you should get the 16gb DIMM instead of a single 8GB stick for reasons above
4. Im using the MSI B450 Carbon Pro and its very good so far :>. but your mobo seems fine. no need to change itEDIT:
Is this the video?

What would happen if there were 2 different keyboard driver installed on the same system?
I recently bought the G.skill km780.
However, my old Levetron Mech 5 has a detachable numberpad that I want to use as a macro pad, since its program/driver allows fully programmable macrosUPDATE: so right after posting this i kinda just went on and started using the "2" keyboards and no problem found.
Currently, my MECH5 numpad is serving as a pretty good macro pad for all the programs im using without interfering with my KM780 numpad. -

Just reinstall on one of the drives, then add storemi later once installed. Install from a usb drive or dvd or network or floppy.
Will that cause my other tiered drive to be formatted as well?

My OS started acting up for a while, and I cant find any solution that works.
Re-installing my OS seems to be the best idea. However, I'm using StoreMI and Im not sure what will happen during reinstallationg. Using the "Reset this PC" option, it says that StoreMI (with a lot of other program) will be uninstalled.
I tired to revert back my tier drives but it keeps giving me errors too. -

Did you clean install to the new SSD?
And is there any important data on the old SSD?
I did the installation from my old windows, instead of booting from my usb. (I think thats the error right there)
My old os is still intact. I can still boot into it
4k Monitor stuttering on video playback
in Displays
Posted
Hey y'all
My 4k main monitor is experiencing a lot of video playback stuttering, when not playing videos on 4k. This is very noticeable on youtube, Twitch and sometime on Netflix.
This stuttering only occurs when the video is not on 4k, or when the video is not on full screen. It's not a problem on my other 2k monitor. (I don't use that monitor for medias coz the colours are not as good.)
I don't know if it's something normal with dual monitor setup, but it's really annoying when watching videos at 1080p or 1440p.
I've tried changing the cables, re-installing my GPU drivers, to no avail. My entire system is ~7 years old, except for my GPU.
Could it be the monitor that's bad? somekind of bottleneck in my system?
Setup:
Monitor 1 (4K): LG 27UD88, DP
Monitor 2 (2K): AOC AG271QG, DP
GPU: RTX 3070
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
RAM: 16GB GSkill tridentZ 3200mhz
Thanks in advance!
