  1. Some of the settings that are FPS hogs are: Hairworks (obviously). Disable all three of the sliders that deal with hairworks. Foliage Visibility. Take it down to medium. Shadows. This can especially be taxing in major cities at dusk or dawn. Try medium. Ambient Occlusion. A hidden FPS hog. Try disabling it all together. That should get you near or at the 60 FPS. EDIT:
  2. I do hear the pump running, yes. When I emptied it I looked for impurities or gunk coming out with the water, but didn't notice anything before refilling it again. When touching the pump I also feel vibrations from the motor running.
  3. Good afternoon. About 1½ year ago I purchased a Kelvin S24 for my PC so that I may do some proper overclocking for my i7-4790K. I settled for a stable 24/7 OC of 4.6Ghz @1.280v. I later bought a Cryorig H7 to try out air coolers, but I have now settled in for the Kelvin S24 again and this is where my predicament begins. It simply does not cool the same anymore. The S24 is now able to cool the CPU to autoboost to 4.2Ghz, which is 0.2Ghz low of its max boost, albeit for a short while as the temperatures on core 1 rests in the 90's to 100c whereby the CPU boosts down to 3.8-4.0Ghz. So far I have: Ensured that the fans are oriented to push air through the radiator. The fans do increase in rpm when the temperatures rise. I have refilled the unit with distilled water. I have remounted the pump 3 times and used two different thermal pastes to ensure proper coverage. I have reset all fan controls to default. I am at a loss as to what can be done short of turning it in. Thank you for your help.
  4. Go to the windows store and search for the Xbox Accessories app. Make sure it's the one from Microsoft (thumbnail should look like a thumb stick), download, install and it should register with you controller. All problems I have experienced with my Xbox One controller was solved by simply installing this app.
  5. With AMD and Intel having released both of their new platforms within the last couple of months, it makes little to no sense upgrading from an i7-4790K unless you are looking for specific features of the new CPUs or motherboards. The i7-4790K not only hangs in there, but performs close to Kaby Lake. Nvidia's bid has been out for almost a year with the 1000-series, and with AMD's VEGA looking to only match that performance, it wouldn't make sense waiting for VEGA as your are already performing at GTX 1070 level, but rather wait for Volta. If anything, upgrade your monitor to 1440 or 4K if you haven't already.
  6. It seems more of a sidegrade though it would be fun to see where the R9 390 places against the new line ups from AMD and Nvidia.
  7. I am about to pull the trigger on a ASUS MG279Q 1440p, IPS, 144hz Freesync monitor that is on sale. While the Acer XF270HU would be a better buy for a full range freesync, without having to fiddle with different drivers as in the case of the ASUS monitor, it simply isn't sold here in Denmark. In my experience the monitor is perhaps the longest lasting piece of hardware for the computer, so before I do buy this monitor I wanted to hear if there are any monitors on the horizon that might be worth waiting for. I am looking for 1440p (ultrawide included), IPS and a refresh rate including and above 90hz. Wait could sway to wait would be a monitor release coinciding with the Vega launch.
  8. The Witcher 2 has a graphics setting called "uber sampling" I believe. It is notoriously hard on the GPU. Check to make sure that it is turned off. I could easily imagine ubersampling sampling at 4K being the culprit here.
  9. What budget are we looking at for the individual parts?
  10. Have you tried holding down the button for several seconds? I saw it mentioned by Dimitry from Hardwarecanucks in their review of the case.
  11. Have you done a CPU/GPU stress test?
  12. It's a 4-pin PWM fan that by the specifications can run from 450-2000 RPM, so it may very well go hand in hand. I did consider the silent wings 2 for the CPU cooler as well, but having read around the general consensus seems to be that they don't push enough air through to be effective as a CPU cooling fan. Have you experienced higher temperatures with the Silent Wings 2, or have you actually tested if it makes a difference?
  13. Hello. I have had the Fractal Design Define S for some time now and have slowly but steadily continued to upgrade my hardware inside of this fantastic case. While I have supplemented the adequate stock fans that came with the case with some cheapish fans, I have become interested in making my PC more silent. For this I have looked into some new fans and would like some feedback on my thoughts and experiences from other users. Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait 2 x 4-pin CPU fan connectors 3 x 4-pin system fan connectors CPU Cooler: Fractal Design Kelvin S24 (240mm radiator) Case: Fractal Design Define S Front: 3 – 120/140 mm fans Rear: 1 – 120/140 mm fan Top: 3 - 120/140 mm fan Bottom: 1 – 120/140 mm fan My proposed layout: Front: 3 x 140mm be quiet! Silent Wings 2 PWM Rear: 1 x 140mm be quiet! Silent Wings 2 PWM Top: 2 x 120mm Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM This should keep the overall black/white theme of my case consistent while ensuring ample cooling and low acoustics. In terms of pricing the be quiet! and Noctua fans costs virtually the same and if there any improvements in a different choice (all Noctua for example) I would be interested in hearing it.
  14. Despite the original Mafia being an old title by now the game is still at the forefront of games when it comes to story.
  15. I am not certain. How would I go about checking for this?
