  1. F@H runs on a very low priority and is really damn good at dynamically scaling its usage to avoid interrupting other processes. It does this so well that I've been able to play pretty much any game I want with minimal problems. Krunker, Clone Hero, Among Us, and many others have ran fine for me while folding at full power. I've played CS:GO, Overwatch, Rocket League, Skyrim, and many others while folding and it does slow things down a bit especially if you have a 144hz monitor or need ultra low latency for ranked competitive games, but if you don't mind a minor slow down then it works fine.
  2. The NAS would just be storing bulk files. I was planning on having the ESXi box just use a small spare SSD for the main drive.
  3. Hey everyone, I've been looking for some suggestions, past experience, and insight on a server build that I've been wanting to do. I am on a budget, but I still want to get great performance. I'm looking for the best price to performance. Here are my goals for what I will host on my home server setup: Web Server for my portfolio (low traffic) Plex Media Server Plex Player Music Streaming Server Torrent Client Torrent Manager (i.e. Sonarr/Radarr/Lidarr) Lots of storage capacity for tv shows/movies/anime Steam w/ Big Picture (for tv/couch gaming) Anything else like game servers, cs projects, file hosting, image hosting, personal pastebin, etc. Here is the solution that I've come up with: Networking Ubiquiti Security Gateway Pro Ubiquiti Unifi Switch 24 Port w/ POE Ubiquiti Unifi AC Lite or LR 400Mbps internet Static IP Server Hardware Storage Server (Possibly a storinator, but those are pretty expensive so I may just find some cheap used server with 3.5" bays) FreeNas OS ~10Tb of storage with room to expand as needed ~1Tb of fast ssd storage Main Server ESXi VMs with all my services running (plex, torrents, webserver, etc) Fast SSD storage for VM file systems Uses storage server as NAS Media/Gaming Server Windows 10 Some old GPU (i.e. Nvidia GTX 780Ti) Fast SSD storage for OS and games Connected to TV, not in server rack UPS in case of power outage Some server rack, 15U? I was hoping to build the servers if possible, but I know that would likely be much more expensive so I may end up just upgrading a used server. If anyone has any past experiences or suggestions with setting this up please let me know. This will likely end up costing me a lot of money so I want to do everything right so that I have plenty of performance and room to expand in the future if my needs increase.
  4. Still not working with just one card plugged in directly unfortunately. I am able to mine just fine for now, but the whole system seems to go down when the GPU inevitable starts overheating.
  5. I gave that a try, but it doesn't seem to be working. I tried a full DDU uninstall and then reinstall with the Pixel Clock Patcher and the drivers still won't load. That definitely is something I didn't consider though. I bought the cards off ebay and the previous owner could have used a custom bios of some kind. I sent them a message so hopefully they can get back to me on what needs to be done. Any other suggestions in the mean time?
  6. Hello everyone, I am mining cryptocurrency on a spare computer and I'm running into some issues with the driver. Whenever I try to start up the AMD Radeon Settings program, I get the error "No AMD Graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware." Now this is causing an issue because my GPU's keep overheating and shutting off to protect the computer. I tried to install a couple tweaking tools like MSI Afterburner so that I could set a lower power target and reduce the load and heat on the GPU, but none of these softwares will work since the AMD drivers appear to not be working correctly so I can't adjust any of the settings to prevent the computer from overheating. This is my parts list: Windows 7 SP1 AMD FX 8150 CPU Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard 2 x MSI Radeon HD 7970's connected using a 16x to 1x riser. 4Gb DDR3 RAM Driver is Radeon Crimson 15.02, but I have tried latest. Neither work. I have tried booting into safe mode and using DDU to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them, but I keep running into the same error message. What other options do I have to get the drivers working so I can stop the system from crashing?
  7. I currently have a media server running Windows Server 2012 R2 on a Hardware RAID 10 array with a single partition. As time has gone on, I've increasingly run into a variety of issues with Plex, Sonarr, File Management, Boot times, etc and I'd like to try to move over to an entirely GNU/Linux based setup. The problem being that I have many terabytes of data stored on my hard drives in a single partition. This was obviously a stupid move, but I'm not sure how I could go about fixing this without losing all my data. Is there anyway to move that data over to a new partition without losing everything so that I can separate my data from the windows environment?
  8. I am currently using a surfboard modem and Linksys 1900 Wireless AC Router. I have been downloading files from my remote server for a couple days now and the speed deteriorated significantly over time to the point where I was getting 1/5th of my advertised network speeds. I contacted my service provider and they said everything looked fine on their end and to restart. After restarting my modem my internet speed was suddenly fast again.I asked them if they throttled downloads and they said that they only throttled bittorrent connections which I am not using. The only conclusion I could come to was that the modem or router was overheating. The modem and router are both too hot to touch after spending long times downloading. I'm amazed the plastic isn't melting right off. Is this an issue that anyone has encountered before. Anyone aware of how to mitigate this issue or any hardware that can handle high speed continuous downloads for many days or weeks at a time?
  9. This projector looks like the ultimate way to play with friends.
  10. I currently run a dedicated server. My performance needs vary greatly. There will be times where I need a lot of CPU power and a lot of RAM and some times where all I have running is my web server. I'd like to have the option to scale my server that way I'm not paying so much for my dedicated server when I'm just running the web server. I was looking at the public cloud options, but they look to be ridiculously expensive for the same price as my current hardware. What is going on with that? What options do I have to make things more economical?
  11. I like the Asus recommendation. How well would it do in gaming?
  12. Hello Everyone! I'm not super familiar with monitor technology so hopefully you can help me. I want to get my girlfriend a fancy new monitor for Christmas. She is a graphic designer and casual gamer. She said she wanted to get something that was visually amazing and was at least 60 frames per second and had very good color accuracy with RGB stuff since she does a lot of graphic work. My budget is $1000 or less so I just want to find the best monitor for art that also can do some casual gaming here and there like GTA of Fallout. Also she has a GTX 970 Graphics card. Thanks in advance for your help!
  13. I see. Well thanks for all the help. I'll probably try and get this all done with my next computer build in that case.
  14. I have the i7 4770k and 2 discrete GPUs as well as onboard graphics.
  15. Alright thanks for the help. I'll try my luck and see if I can get it setup.
