  1. I got into tech early on because my dad is a computer scientist (mainly a Java developer). So he used to bring home all of the wackiest and coolest new tech items. One Christmas me and my brothers asked for a Nintendo or playstation, instead however we got a Sega Dreamcast and honestly that was the coolest thing ever. Another year he bought us a new gaming pc for me and my brothers and was going on and on about the 8800 graphics card inside and the dual core it had. However, lately he just doesn't care anymore which is understandable since he doesn't game or do anything highly intensive besides programming server applications on his thinkpad. He does however listen to music, he still uses these black plastic in ear headphones and refuses to get better ones because he doesn't want to spend the money when these work even though one of them is dead. So I think a new pair of headphones would be awesome for the guy who once bought a nerf controller for my ps2... yes that was a real thing. Link:http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Headphone-Brown/dp/B009QV15DU Thanks for the chance to win my dad something awesome Linus!
  2. Haven't had a chance to purchase that other card yet... Between school and the cost of school.. I am dying But I promise as soon as I have something together I will absolutely mail it!
  3. I first saw some of your videos Linus while I was researching parts for my first computer build. I watched a couple reviews and read some comments on a few things here and there (mainly on AMD stuff because that was what I head my mind set on). In any case your videos have helped me and a few buddies of mine figure out our first builds and for the most part complete them relatively easy (we had to modify his graphics card to fit in his old case... That was so much fun.. ) But in all honesty you definitely are a positive voice in this community and one of which I enjoy being a part of, even if I rarely comment. (That is the anti-social programmer/college student in me). So here's to many more videos and awesome tech reviews!
  4. A buddy of mine just bought a 780ti, so I am going to check it out and see how it performs. Absolutely, if I get my new card and PSU purchased within like... the next 2 months (hopefully) then I will happily mail my old card to you.
  5. I pulled these from Amazon on the card, "17.4 x 10.8 x 3.6 inches ; 3.5 pounds" not sure if it's going to be helpful at all though
  6. Yes and no, the 290x is a faster card (albeit not by much) but has many improvements done to it in terms of noise and heat control. Especially the MSI lightning card which has a crapton of stuff built into it. However, something to note is this card is massive, it takes up 3 slots and has a rediculous power consumption.
  7. Just a thought, instead of crossfiring two 290's why not spend the same amount of money and get a MSI Lightning 290x? You could crossfire it later if needed and it's a beast of a card.
  8. I agree with the above, after researching a bunch (which I should have done with my first build -.-) the Vapor-x and lightning are really great cards. However, you can get a Tri-X version (just slightly less better than the vapor-x) for cheaper. If you want to go super-budget you could get on Ebay and look around as well!
  9. I am probably going to go with the Tri-X after looking around at some different places. I found one for 400$ on ebay and a used card doesn't really bother me too much. I just have to figure out what power supply I am going to get.
  10. Sorry for the late reply on this thread, school work is madness... But I am gaming at 1080p on a 27" monitor. I may want to upgrade to a 4k monitor sometime in the near future but as of right now I am happily content with this. I would HAPPILY sell it to you for like... heck, I would probably give it to you. I'm going to be gaming at 1080p, however I probably will upgrade to a 4k monitor in the near future, and I have been looking around at power supplies and I really like what the EVGA SuperNOVA seems to offer, although I still haven't researched enough into it to make sure it is what I need.
  11. So to make a long story short I recently just built my first system back in January and I am pretty happy with it currently. However, the GPU I chose for the build is not performing how I thought it would and I am looking to upgrade it to something better. I have my eyes set on either the 290x Tri-x, 290x Lightning Edition or an equivalent on the Nvidia Side. This being said I do have a system geared towards AMD products, one because they were much more affordable and two because... well just because. Here is my system specs (just in case they are needed) CPU: AMD FX-8320 (Air Cooled) MOBO: Gigabyte 970-A RAM: 8gb Sniper GPU: R9 270x Dual X PSU: Generic Best Buy 500w HDD: WD 1tb SSD: EVO 120gb CASE: AMD Thermaltake **(I am also aware that I am going to have to upgrade my PSU for whatever card I decide, so if there are any recommendations on that as well I would greatly appreciate them!)**
