  1. It's an Easter card on my pc covering a painting of my late dog, my paints skills are that good.
  2. TLDR: PSU cable burnt out at the sat connector causing a small fire burning through 8 cables: 3 from the PSU, 1 temp gauge sensor wire extension and 2 SATA cables and 2 usb 2.0 internal head cables going to the front IO and a fan filter (see photos). PC runs fine with replaced cables, though I have alot of soot removal to do luckily it's a black case not a white one! So I open the office door and I see a smokey room and smell of burning electronics. Nice. Should be a good Friday then... Feel free to chuck your guess for the issue below, just about to start looking into the issue (6pm GMT 7/4/23). Yea... This is my only and so main pc (luckily I can trouble shoot with another pc though it isn't mine). Yea... I understand data back ups etc, don't do what I should. It's old, 4770k era but its would I got. Overclocked to as much as it'll take 4.6ghz. Watercooled, custom loop, CPU, VRMs and GPU. Yea.. I know my psu is over the top Im aiming for a very quiet pc ie it runs fanless also all the time. Yea... I know my water-cooling is really over the top. Again, the aim was to not be able to tell it my pc was on even when gaming (I was successful if your interested). Water-cooling is serviced semi regularly but not in the last 9-12mo. Yea.. that's alot of fans....none run above 500rpm, at 90% of the time at least 6/8 rad fans are off (4+ hrs of anno 1800 just about has them all spinning.. just) Anno 1800 has a population of over 100k if your interested. I'll update as I learn what is and isn't okay. Enjoy the thread... naturally if I get stuck I'll add a question or two. Specs: i7 4470k # 4.6ghz 32gb ddr3 corsairs lpx memory. Mobo: Asus Formula (VI I think). Z68. PSU: bequiet dark power 12 1000w ( a recent addition following my 1000w seasonic platinum died after nearly 12 years. MSI 1080ti Aero OC (custom OC + voltage curve) runs at round 2ghz. 6 SSDs: 2*2tb(software raid 1, personal videos and photos). 4*500gb (1 is the boot drive), other are games drives) Case Corsair 900D Water cooling: 2*480 alpha cool all copper 60mm deep rads, D5 pump, alpha cool XSPC pump top, EK CPU, GPU blocks, EK reservoir, Asus mobo block (VRM). Fans: 4*bequiet solvent wings 3 (in exhaust, 3 intake. 8 Corsair SP120 fans on rads (4 intake, 4 exhaust). Fluid: mayhem's pre mix (X1 I think). If you made it this fair vote in the poll: What died? https://strawpoll.com/polls/eJnvvDXKxnv And a bonus fact, there is a known slow leak on the drain fitting however this is below all components and electronics and drops maybe once every week through a whole on the bottom on the case. Wish me luck. Update: 09:30pm. Good little fire, burnt out 8 cables and a fan filter. Appears the power cable burnt up between the PSU and an SSD. Everything I can confirm smells rough... With any luck some airing out and a good clean can fix that. Time to buy some cables and hopefully there aren't any other issues remaining. Sorry to those that figured a leak or terrible component failure. Complete 10am 08/04/2023 PSU cable burnt out at the sat connector causing a small fire burning through 8 cables: 3 from the PSU, 1 temp gauge sensor wire extension and 2 SATA cables and 2 usb 2.0 internal head cables going to the front IO and a fan filter (see photos). 3. Thanks all for the replies. After a further search, I settle on this: https://www.rutlandcycling.com/accessories/lights/moon-vortex-pro-front-light__487473?currency=GBP&chosenAttribute=LAAMY2006&gclid=CjwKCAjwndCKBhAkEiwAgSDKQQrWJYsbYuBEvCxk65ipBeQGNhY1BG_5gFc2HXkWk0jL29XaguPDExoCgG8QAvD_BwE Moon do seem to be 1 of maybe three company's that offer usb C charging including the Amazon link above, though I prefered the idea of going with a known cycling brand and I already have some moon micro B rechargables which have worked well over the years. The other company I found are: https://smartbikelights.com/pages/navi however reviews seemed mixed and the customer support was well wrong... Starting all there lights are usb c when only there Navi front light is and maybe there cubelite II (is isn't that clear on the website (other rear lights are I believe micro B...as listed on the spec sheet and you can see in the photos). Worth nothing smartbikelights appear to be one a lot of knock brand on the same products, which can be found on Amazon for less. Moon have a few options with usb c but looks like you have to spend £40+ for usb c still for your bike lights....
  4. hi all.... Yep I'm asking that here of all places I looked around a year or so back found nothing, I been looking again recently and again I find basicly nothing. I'm after a main front projector light for computing most of my compute is on well lit road but just enough is out of town that i do need a decently bright front light. I've been really trying to put off buying a light that isnt USB C rechargeable as im liking to keep the light going for years and surely soon micro will finally die??? Cheers all!
  5. Okay... I have spent 60hours playing this game with plenty of issues but the crashing got less frequent after enabling HAGS however now its now unplayable. major issue right now is after about a minute of game play my PC screens (2 main and secondary) disconnect and go into power saving, at the same time I can here windows sound (ping sound) when you get a error, I assume Graphic driver crash or something but I cant see it. to be clear, I can sit in the main landing page of the game for ages but once the game is loaded and being played I have about a minute sometimes less. Edit: game crashes when trying to open to "load" option form the title screen(landing page), hence I cant try to open an old save game... I have tried the following: enabled HAGS updated windows clean installed GPU drives. latest GPU drivers increased paging file size on boot drive and the drive the game is installed on. tried default clocks on the GPU. disabled shader optimisations run the game as administrator allowed the shader optimisation to complete before loading game save. validated games file ...at least 4 times. reinstalled the game (edit 26/07/2021) Im running the following Hardware: I7 4770k @4.5ghz. 1080 Ti, MSI Aero model. Asus Formula Mobo 32gb of corsair LPX memory. boot drive and gamed drive are Samsun SSDs. VRM, GPU and CPU all under a custom loop, temps below 50 even after 6+ hours of playing games or looped benchmarks. Edit: Installed the game on a different PC running: 16gb ram Radeon RX570 AMD R5 3600 On a different PC there was no issue, hence assuming hardware issue at this point. I'm truly at a loss now, any help would be great, thanks. Thanks!
  6. this is a cracking answer. thanks! I havnt found any of the asus panels for sale but have found a few of the acer onnes (2nd hand, can't justify new), I am kinda looking for all the boxes ticked, 27" is the same as i currently have size wise so should fit me in my set up nicely. The thing was worries me is the fan noise, Literally built my PC (2ft aware from me) to be so quiet it hard to tell if it turned on so a loud monitor is a massive turn off. Im happy to missing out the 32" models particularly at that price ouch. I kinda panel to run the monitor at 4k, 120hz anz 4.2.2, my current monitor is 1080p 60(overclocked to 80hz) so 120hz would be a dream on its own. wonder if you can replace the fan with like a noctua fan/silent wings?
  7. After sometime..like 2 years of the announcement/release of these are they still kinda the king? 4k HDR10 (384 zone dimming (FAD) DCI-P3 colour 97% 120hz (144hz is OC). 8bit panel (auss), 10 bit panel(acer) G-Sync https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/predator-model/UM.HX0EE.P01 https://rog.asus.com/monitors/27-to-31-5-inches/rog-swift-pg27uq-model/spec/ Basically I'm looking to actually update my monitor from the bog standard 1080p one i have. Thoughts? Thanks!
  8. I cant find any reference to secure boot in my dads PC's UEFI bios. Start up repair or automatic repair fails, When windows or the repair starts the dots that spin below the windows logo after 5 seconds suddenly slow (as in the spin around really really slow) then after a few minutes the system crashes/restarts. My PC's UEFI bios has secure boot enabled but no option to disable it. the only options are "windows UEFI" of "other OS". Thanks for the help.
  9. My concern is i did that would my dads PC which is now showing the same issues as mine, Ie boot looping into windows automatic repair. Only have 1 Desktop working in the house now. I'll have a look again tonight. Thanks.
  10. How can I access those? windows BSODs before landing page, Safe mode also BSODs instantly. Thanks for the help.
  11. Yes, on both. defaults have been restored. Thanks for the help.
