  1. The folder/HD is shared on the network. In order to access the HD via another PC. I enter the directory folder location. (//Desktop-******/folder name)
  2. I have a second computer that I run all the time, let's call this PC server. The server is running Windows 10, and for specs it currently has: -a 4th gen i7 -16gb ram -1x wd 2tb red 5400HD -1x 256gb SSD boot drive I use this PC for 2 things. Running a 4k media server which is accessible from any tv and PC. i also use the server as a network storage for my computers. (Future plan is to set the PC up as an ftp server using filezilla, aswell so I can access my files from anywhere with my laptop) I've only had 1 problem so far a couple 4k movies have had to buffer mid watch. Every PC and tv are wired direct ethernet to a network switch. Im not sure what the bottle neck in this set up is? Come black Friday my goals are to add 2x 1tb SSDs in raid 1. This will be for file storage. 4x 2tb raid10 WD reds for movie storage. I also have an SSD that has windows on it putting me at 7 sata cables. I will need to run a raid card. What do you guys recommend. Don't need anything fancy, but might want to upgrade the raid 10 thou. Just some knowledge questions: - when streaming a movie on a tv from the server, does the tv process the video or does the server process the video first. Thanks in advance, I know I asked alot of questions.
  3. i have already tryed uninstalling the drivers and reinstall the newest drivers right off of the asus website and it had no effect. still getting slow speeds
  4. im running windows 10 64bit, and the ROG STRIX Z270F
  5. Hi, currently i am having a problem where my main gaming rig is seems to be constantly lagging in games. when running a speed test on my gaming rig i only get about 300 down. when running a speed test on my server im getting the full speed 1gb down. iv tried uninstalling the Ethernet drives and reinstalling the latest drivers right off asus' website. still no fix to the slow speeds. I've tried switching cables, no fix is it possible the on board Ethernet port is failing/ not running at 100% potential?
6. OK let me start by saying I've had this problem ever since windows removed home group sharing a couple months ago. i have read days worth of forums trying to figure this out and i final decided to ask for help. Before the windows up date i could share a file from my movie server (movie server has:1 ssd boot drive &1 hdd movie storage) to my smart tv, where i was able to select the pc and view my movies. Now when i select the movie server from the tv it says no content found. I should mention the i am able to access the Movie server from any other lan of wireless pc in the house but both the tv and the smart blue ray player on the other tv are unable to see any movies or folders yes all of my advance sharing option are on, except the the password is turned off and the tv has permission under Control Panel → Network and Internet → Network and Sharing Center → Media Streaming Option I've tried reinstalling windows, had to re set up all the sharing options and that didn't fix anything. Then i tried copy a movie from the server to my person pc and share the movie from there. Once I turned the sharing options on the tv could see my person pc but it also was not able to the movie there either. The TV also is using cat6 so its not a wifi problem either wanted to pointed out that when i select network on my personal pc both computers show up but when i select network on my movie server nothing shows up. (You can view both pc as a media devices but that opens windows media player) any help would be amazing

  11. even when i put a fps cap to 200 i will get drops that will go as low as 50 then. when i play games like dead by daylight the game is capped at 61 fps but when i preform a swing action it will drop and my gpu % will drop aswell
  12. i have a gtx 1080 not overclocked and a i7 7700k not over clock. when i'm playing mostly csgo i will go from a consistent 300fps (the cap i set on csgo) and it will drop to 100 fps for about a second causing a really bad stutter. in my research i had task manager open on a second monitor and it showed me that when my fps drops like that the GPU will only be running a 40% or less, but just for that one second or on task manger one update point on the graph. i have all the latest driver. this does happen in other games as well, but it normally only occurs when there is a action being occurred. I start to shoot or preform an action in this scenario. Dont think it matters but i am running a 144hz monitor and i built this computer brand new in august except i reused 1 year old (at the time) Samsung pro ssd (was wiped before installing windows on) and a hard drive which had a bunch on games on it. except csgo which is on the ssd
  13. current pc: -2x 256gb Samsung 840 pro in Raid 0 (as boot drive and software) (plugged into black sata ports) -3tb hardrive (plugged into brown sata port) - 250gb kingston v300 ssd (not in pc currently) -sabertooth z77 motherboard i want to add my Kingston v300 250gb ssd as a cache drive for the hard drive (i know that max cache is 64gb). my question is it possible to do this with only having 2 intel 6gb sata ports on my motherboard. thx Taylor
