  1. yes/no if you don't enjoy playing around with the keyboard then I wouldn't be able to justify the extra cost for the RGB leds. I have two k95 RGBs (one for work and one for home) and i have not had any issues with the leds; however, my friend had to RMA one K95 for a bad LED.
  2. The Corsair keyboard is good. I have a k95 and like it a lot. Which keyboard looks the best to you? Which switch feels the best to you? I like reds (fps player)
  3. Or use a PCIe riser. You don't have to cut up your case (though it's kind of fun) Test to see if you can enable SLI with your PC out of its case.
  4. Not too long. Your lips are on your face (hopefully) and heal very quickly. Google lip-burn treatments
  5. Well your hardware is compatible. My experience is with xfire but the common problems I've had are the following: 1--divers are not all up to date (including all divers--mobo, GPU, etc) 2--bridge is not functional/not correctly installed 3--you are using the wrong slots (i.e. Using a 16x slot running at 4x slot instead of 8x) 4--reinstall video drivers
  6. Does your motherboard support SLI? Did you use the SLI bridge? Specs would be nice
  7. The question is if nationalism is silly, not if its important. It's definitely powerful! But by the same logic I could say slavery is totally important--doesn't mean it was good or not, just that it has had a major impact on the world.
  8. Nationalism kind of reminds me of the feudal system. Like why am I proud to be an American if I did nothing to become an American? It's because we are taught to be proud of our country so our governments can use us to their own advantage and call it "nationalism" Same way in the feudal system taught the serfs to fight for their lord's land and property even though it actually does not benefit them.
  9. I remember when I was a kid and my family was moving from San diego to Monterey we would regularly take the 8 hour drive between the two and I found the best way to stay entertained was to get a car-wall outlet converter and plug a small tv and gamecube and play Mario kart with my brothers the whole way. Good times
  10. Just a little something while I wait on the plastic to get here... This is the laser etching process http://i.imgur.com/vM87zdG.webm
  11. no problem. not cool for avast to load adware on the pc it's supposed to be protecting but I guess it is free so it has to make money somehow...
  12. Harmless. It's Avast trying to make money. All computers have "grime"
  13. $18000??? What did you max out an iMac
  14. I'd say steer away from the strix unless you really want it. Really bad coil whine issues from what I've heard. I have the windforce 970 and its quiet. Edit--nvm I think you are reusing it.
  15. ooh thermo was fun; I took it last quarter I had a good professor. EE is hard my dad is an EE and I can't understand anything he does. I'm studying civil engineering.
  16. Mod Update! I refined the design for the white backdrop and experimented with some "mirror paint" designed for acrylic and glass, not paper. It looks cool and I made a quick comparison video. My k95s are using the K95 RGB Audio Spectrograph by Elestriel. Below are the comparison pictures without the video processing And there are more comparison photos in this imgur album.
  17. I could do it for sure. I have access to more tools than I can think of; however, desks are flat and keyboards need to be angled for comfort. This might be a project when I start renting a house and I can build a table from the ground up The holes are not the problem, the desk is. 1-Good idea! I will see what it takes to get a neon affect underneath the keyboard. I'm not sure I could make the RGBs synced with the keyboard but who knows lol. I will look into it. 2-the USB hub is a weird one I'll open the keyboard back up and take another look at it, but I am not sure if that's possible with the available space. 3-I was thinking of making a custom badge to put over the tramp stamp it would be very easy to install and I could possibly give one to you 4 & 5 seem really hard I don't think I can do those
  18. If strictly for gaming I'd say vr. If for general use + gaming, triple 1080p. I'll never settle for fewer than 3 monitors until they are large enough for me to fit all my work on one
  19. Mod Update! After 5 hours (probably more) of measuring and drafting the dimensions of the keyboard (I could not get them from Corsair) I managed to create a white base plate cover out of thick paper. Get ready for pictures! I first drafted the keyboard in AutoCAD. This is an older draft that I am not using and it is not accurate to the spacing on the actual keyboard (I am not sure if I can actually share those or not). I made the draft; it was not provided by Corsair and it took way too much of my time to make. My current version of the draft is still a couple hundredths of a millimeter off, so I can't cut acrylic to fit over the keyboard yet. I took the keyboard to the Mechanical Engineering labs this morning. I skipped class to reserve the laser cutter It was a better use of my time anyways. Fluid Dynamics. Can't be too useful can it? Laser cutting is super fun. Sorry for the bad quality, I had my camera on "Close up" preset because I was taking pictures of my room mate's gecko last night. I'll show you guys later. I got a really good picture of her IT FITS!!! Well, sort of. It took a bit of force to get the right side around the numpad to stay on. I need to refine my measurements still *sigh* (I really wish Corsair would just give me a dimension drawing!) After I got the whole thing on. the G keys are separate from the rest of the keyboard because I needed to check to see if I had aligned them correctly in my draft (I had no way to measure vertical displacement from the rest of the keyboard). I'm glad I separated the two parts because it turns out I was almost .6 mm too low! I will fix that for draft 2. Now: Comparison Time! Here's a small video comparison I made. I do not own a video camera so it is poor quality video. Oh, and here's the gecko I was talking about earlier. She likes the camera.
  20. Yes, good choice to take the warranty. If the Kailh switches really bother you then this sounds like a good option. People love the keyboard you have so I doubt you'd have a problem selling it. I don't think you really need to though, totally up to you
  21. I'm not sure really since I have not tested both switches for longevity. I think maybe /rmechanialkeyboards could probably answer that question better Judging that there are not 100000 people complaining that their Kalih switches have failed, I would say that they are supposed to last a while and that you are probably unlucky
  22. They probably wanted to widen the profit margin by selling more keyboards. It costs a lot to produce the switches so cutting corners there can cut the cost of the board down considerably. It's defective because even though it's a cheaper switch, it should not have broken. Even Cherry has defects, and the bump dissapeaing with normal use is a defect.
  23. Basically cherry clones. Cherry is made in Germany while Kalih in China. Kalih switches are made with cheaper materials that do break easier than cherry switches, although to break either you still have to drop the board on the stem or abuse it in some way.Kalih keyboards are usually much more affordable than cherry boards due to the cheaper switch, so they appeal to a different customer. I paid $200 for my keyboard but I also type like 26 hours per day Kalih switches are great switches. They are not "excellent," but they cost less too. I think it's a fair trade off, especially since they are strong enough for normal use. Then again, this is from my research and not my experience. 24. You got a good keyboard don't worry too much about it. I think the cherry switches may be better made but the Kalih switches are definitely not trash. My problem with the Razer boards is Razer--I don't like their style. Good luck getting it repaired! It sounds like you've already done 90% of the work
  25. You can move your drive as it is without hurting things. it just won't have drivers and (sometimes) windows wants you to reactivate. not a big deal. Other option: Partition your Hdd and insall Ubuntu on the new partition and you can use that anywhere/anytime as a backup OS that won't ever try to annoy you (and also will be immune to viruses on whatever machine you are throwing it into, gives you access to all the windows-protected files, etc)
