  1. I remember our robotics team was held in the airport because they thought the robot was a bomb.
  2. Got a shout out from corsair on facebook! I guess they really liked the mod because I am sending them a keyboard cover today!
  3. MOD UPDATE The plastic looks good! Even better news, the plastic is flexible enough that I don't worry about these covers ever cracking or breaking. (FYI I used High impact styrene) Also, I found out my file is a very tight fit for plastic (I may be overall maybe half a millimeter too small, but with a little force (and a lot of patience) the plastic was able to stretch the extra small distance to fit over the keyboard nicely. I did not quite finish all my cuts because the cuts took quite a bit longer than I had expected. I painted one of the plastic plates with a mirror paint to see what would happen and was a little disappointed with the results initially, but I noticed something cool that happens only with the mirror finish--lights reflect off the outer edges of the keys. Look for what I am talking about in the pictures below and tell me what you like: mirror or pure white! Another piece of news: I have made this project open source. My layout files can be found here in this dropbox link. Video of the mod: [spoiler=Pure White Plastic VS Paper (Paper is on top)] [spoiler=Pure White Plastic VS Mirror Plastic (Mirror is on bottom)]
  4. nope, it happens when loading windows. posting happens just fine. Do you ever make it to the login screen?
  5. Some times old installs of windows does not like new hardware. In my experience, windows BSOD when you switch RAM generations, but only complains in windows if you switch motherboards within a RAM generation. I've done it four times though so I have not had much experience to make that sort of generalization.
  6. Owner of two k95s here: 1-check polling rates 2-are you using profiles made with pre-1.5 CUE? They don't work anymore. 3-export all profiles from cue, completely uninstall cue and delete all the temporary data. Reinstall cue and import all your old profiles. You will be getting rid of unused lighting effects which will help CUE load faster/better. 4-try different USB configs 5-post to the corsair forums. They have a good subforum dedicated to the RGB series and there are quite a few people that can offer advice there what own an RGB keyboard.
  7. Yeah I know defrag is only necessary for HDDs, I dont think I said SSDs need it but if I did, I mistyped. I'm on mobile, sorry. My speculation is that the loading time extends into the time after you spawn to allow slow HDDs to get in the game faster, but I could be wrong. Hence, if you're on an SSD you will experience a minimal loading time spill-over, if on a HDD--longer, and if on a fragmented HDD--even longer. Again, this is my theory on how bf4 works.
  8. It could be a combination though. It might not solely be the HDDs fault, but I think the HDD does play a major part since it is still loading the map. My HDD indicator light is broken unfortunately (cut it thinking it was a different LED) so I can't really test to see if the game is still loading from the HDD after you spawn in on the map, but I'm pretty sure it is. if it were 100% the application's code, why isn't everyone on a HDD feeling this severe loading lag?
  9. Sorry, but some games DO load slowly with HDDs. Also, if the HDD is fragmented it WILL load much slower. his explanation is completely valid. A 2-3 minute wait to load bf4 after getting into a map is really bad. I wait around 10 seconds on CTE and even less in retail bf4 and the only difference between the two is I have CTE on my HDD and retail on an SSD. Also, CTE takes AGES to load a game. I walk away from my PC and go grab some snacks from the kitchen while I'm waiting. It could be CTE just being CTE, but regardless--HDDs and SSDs are the first bottlenecks in most modern computers whether or not you notice it.
  10. Tower only? Have a spare monitor/keyboard/mouse? Spare copy of windows?
  11. if you want faster loading times, you want an SSD. If your HDD is healthy, then changing to a new HDD would only help you if you partition the outside of the drive separately from the inside since the drive's tangential velocity is greater the further from the center of the platter, hence you would get faster read/write times on that partition. HDD are slow, and 60 GB ssds are not worth it. 500gb and 250 gb ssds are fairly priced but the 120 gb will be cheaper (just costs more/GB). Your problem, if it is caused by a HDD, will not be fixed with another HDD.
  12. Yes the game will be larger when the new map packs are added (night maps and BF nostalgic map remakes) Get a 120 or 240 GB SSD.
  13. 8k is 4x4k. 12k would be 9x4k I believe if we stick to the naming scheme... Still though, these screens better be at least 150"+ for me to spend money on them
  14. I use a single 970 and can run every game (albeit not at max). I am considering getting another 970 but I'm not sure if its actually worth the extra settings. I can achieve a solid 100 fps in GTA 5 using a mixture of high/medium settings at 3290x1920, which is three 1080p monitors in portrait.
  15. My confirmation email came 2 days after I signed up for windows 10. If think you misspelt your email because you haven't received confirmation yet just be patient--it can take a while.
  16. When windows 10 comes out I'll tell ya. But my intuition says yes.
  17. Pros: customization and new features when you want them. Also you can unjailbreak Cons: if you are not careful you can install poorly coded enhancements that drain battery and slow down the phone and apple won't help you. Also you don't get to upgrade to new firmwares without losing your jailbreak and all the jailbreak exclusive features you installed. If you want an android experience, you should probably buy android. I think jailbreaking is a must for mobile Apple products but you have to be a little careful and practice basic ethics since you can hack pretty much every app once you jailbreak.
  18. I would try messing around with your anitaliasing settings and if you have Mfaa enabled try playing with it disabled.
  19. I think you should unfriend him on steam. Oh wait
  20. The LEDs are fun to play with. I type without looking at the keyboard too. The LEDs are fun to play with and look really nice. I have spent probably 30 hours playing with the LEDs (I even wrote my own program to interface with the keyboard) Take a look at the RGB profiles on the corsair forums and see if you want to use any of them
  21. Or click the gotobios button attached to MSI fastboot in windows.
  22. I would not go with team elite for ram, especially when corsair vengeance costs nearly the same. Take another look at ram and see if corsair or gskill are within your budget Edit: corsair is exactly the same price. I'd say go for corsair.
  23. Did you bend the pins on the cpu? If not then you should be fine. Make sure to put new thermal paste between the cpu and heatsink before you actually power the pc on or you could break things. The old stuff is definitely unusable. Get a power cable and new thermal paste and power it on and see how good it is. Depending on your budget and performance target I would either say it's pretty decent already or that you need a new GPU. Oh, and get a new case if everything works and makes you happy. Test it first though--you don't need a power button to turn on the PC.
  24. Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?
