  1. I would not let mountain dew anywheres near my PC! let alone let it in my house... That's literally one of the worst sodas ever (taste wise and health wise) It would ruin the pump and sugar would get stuck in the radiator and basically cause all of reddit pc enthusiasts to curse you.
  2. Did you process the video or are you uploading raw footage?
  3. haha the hydraulics have been modded in for a while now. (Maybe they were coded in but activated by a script?) I'll have to unmod so I can go online... It's been a while since I've done the heists!
  4. I really like my droid turbo. Got it for $300 last year it was an awesome deal at Costco
  5. I have never seen a hard drive overheat. Not in any of my builds, and not in any of my friends' builds. We stash our HDDs away behind the motherboard tray even. How hot is "Quite hot"? 30 C is warm to touch, but it's not going to damage the HDD (its actually within the ideal operating temperatures for a mechanical Hard Drive). When you start going beyond 50C on your HDDs, that's when you have to start thinking about cooling them. Thanks! Right now that HDD is 31C according to HWMonitor. It also says the max temp it has reached (turned on all day) was 31C. Temperature in my room right now is 20C. 2 140 AF intake, 1 120 AF exhaust working with 2 SP 140 exhausts on the radiator. There's plenty air moving in the case.
  6. yes. My HDD is in the 5.25" bay and working fine looks great and frees up lots of room for airflow. HDDs do not produce much heat at all. incidental airflow is enough. See my Atom 14 build in my sig for pictures if you want
  7. I have has this issue before with a GPU and it was a Vbios problem. The GPU bios was corrupted (and fixed by an RMA) The fact that the screen doesn't seem to work of of your onboard GPU makes me think the problem is not really with the GPU. Try another PCIE slot?
  8. Also, you can split a 4k panel down the middle - effectively halving the resolution for each output by creating two screens (only not separated by a bezel) I used a 4K panel at work last summer like this. I would imagine that with the smaller screen sizes, you could use displayport 1.2 to get 120 Hz easy. If you split it into 3 or 4 panels you could get 144 hz or beyond. It would just cost too much and few people would buy it. not worth the engineering investment.
  9. True, but if you're not going for graphics - why are you buying a 4K monitor? 4K 144hz is unrealistic and out of the price range of most consumers because it would require AT LEAST a 970 for all lowest settings (and even then, I think it would still struggle) look at the rigs that run 1440p 144 Hz. They're really expensive. I could imagine a 4K 144hz gaming rig costing quite a bit more, and not everyone will bother building a rig that expensive. Heck, my friends think I went a little crazy when I sold my 970 for a 980ti. Few people would use 4k 144 Hz because of the cost.
  10. Because the GPU power required to run 4k 144 Hz almost doesn't exist.
  11. Lol that's how I played the beta too! I have no idea about BO3. I haven't played call of duty since the MW2 days, so I wouldnt be the best person to ask about that. The game that looks really good to me right now is roller coaster tycoon world. (And I'm primarily a Battlefield and GTA player) it just seems like it would be a fun genre switch for me.
  12. Xbox 360 or Xbox 1 controller is commonly supported if there's controller support at all. Some people use PS3/4 controllers, but some games won't support it and you'll need a program running in the background to emulate an XBOX controller. I always reccomend XBOX, no matter what, for this reason - it's the most commonly supported PC controller, cheap, and versatile.
  13. Is the delux version the premium version? Historically, the delux version =\= Premium. I'd say wait on the game unless you know you'll buy it whether or not it is a good game and player base. Preordering a digital game does not make sense to me unless you're buying it for sure, no matter what. Also, not sure if you played the beta or not; but my impression was that Battlefront does not live up to the original games. In my opinion, I'd rather turn on the PS2 and play the originals because DICE did a better job creating Battlefield than Battlefront, at least on a gameplay experience level. Battlefront (DICE) feels incredibly shallow compared to the original two games. Really wanted to like the game, but in it's current state - I'd say it's worth at most about $20-$30. It just doesn't have enough content to justify spending $60 IMHO
  14. Thanks! I am trying to get EVGA to send me some mounting hardware so I can create a custom etched backplate. I'm also thinking about maybe cutting an anti sag acrylic arm like this one from Puget Systems. Right now the GPU is being supported by a piece of fishing line tied to the disk bay. Not ideal, but it doesn't look bad IMO. It could just look a little better Thanks! I have to make the most of these open labs while I can. I mean - college in the US isn't exactly cheap; as I am sure we both know
  15. what are the color of the components? White will make any color stand out in the case
  16. Go 144 hz. I have a 980ti and cant max out games at 3290 x 1920 60 Hz. Still on Ultra/high but I can't imagine a 970 doing well at 4K. A single 970 can pull off triple monitors (what I am running) at medium/low for a stable 60 fps.
  17. Hey People! Sorry for the slow update - I pushed the PC to the backburner when I got back to school. Also I temporarily broke the LEDs during the move, but it was nothing that some solder couldn't fix! (Full Imgur Album) (Battlesation Post on PCMR) Behold: Check out the laser etching! (hint, playing with the laser is my favorite part of the project)
  18. How fast are you supposed to run CS GO? I bought it yesterday and maxed out the game including AA at 3290x1920. Would it really help that much to lower the settings?
  19. how would pressing on the screen void the warranty? opening it is what voids it. Flick the screen
  20. I would honestly spend my money on a higher refresh rate monitor unless I found a great deal on a 60 Hz monitor. That being said I'm still rocking my triple 60 Hz setup from two years ago... Never had a 1 ms response monitor, but I doubt it's really worth it over a higher refresh rate.
  21. Your ping I'll be all over the place. Source: I tried that s with BF4 and every thirty seconds I began to lag over 4G
  22. Yeah that's fine. I live in CA and we had a heatwave last week. My 980ti from EVGA hit 80C. The fans don't spin up until 60C anyways. If you want to make sure it's not a problem, check your max fan speed and temperature using MSI afterburner. At 80C I think the fan should probably be around 50% speed. I think that's how mine is, but I'm not home right now so I cant exactly check
  23. I'd strongly advise upgrading because then you will be more familiar with windows 10 if your work decides to upgrade thier OS. I wouldn't worry about it if you run your own business or if you're working for the military. I upgraded Win7 -> Win10 and I don't see myself going back. It definitely has a few bugs (I can't get the store to work for some reason) but they didn't remove any functions I use on a regular basis, and all my software still works perfectly. My AutoCAD, Photoshop, battlefield and office all work as they had been. I also only did the upgrade - no "clean install" yet
