Thank you very much I will try this.

I'm only running 1 CPU right now and from the board doc I believe I do have the ram slots in the right config out of 2 possible ones that i know of so far. Ill try ipmi and the fans in different configs as well.

@STRMfrmXMN Thanks for the help, the 750i it is:)

If you want to switch from multi-rail to single-rail (not necessary at all with today's components which all draw from a single 12V rail just fine) and multi-rail is minutely better for high draw systems (750W is high draw but you're likely not drawing anywhere near that unless you have 780tis in SLI or similar, but it's not the end of the world by any means to have a single rail.

The Fluid Dynamic fan costs more to implement than the rifle bearing fan in the RMx which is the reason I would get the RMi.

They are both as efficient as one another in real world scenarios. The RMx is a single rail design that has a rifle bearing fan while the RMi has a fluid dynamic bearing fan and the ability to switch rail operations in Corsair Link. I'd recommend the RMi for the fan alone.

Where are you getting a Corsair CX600 for $91? That's a poor price for a mediocre PSU. In other words, you're overpaying. Get a $50-60 Seasonic unit instead, much higher quality.

If I were you, I'd lower that motherboard to a cheaper H170/B150 and skip on the CPU cooler and invest the saved money into an i5.

The motherboard has four RAM slots. I seriously doubt you'll need to be upgrading to 32GB anytime soon. Just run 16GB in dual channel.

As for GPU, don't get the reference RX 480. Wait for the AIB models to avoid the whole controversy about the power problems.

Is your friend intending to change his cpu to an unlocked one in the future? If not, swap the Z170 motherboard for a H110 one. Only use a Z170 mobo when you have a 'k skew' cpu.

    Welcome to the Forums!

Make sure to set your country correctly on PC Part Picker to make sure the parts are available where you are. Why FE? An aftermarket cooler will preform better and is likely cheaper on the 1070 A B150 MOBO can't overclock, yet you have a K CPU. Either get a Z170 board or an i5 6500 Not a great SSD. I'd recommend the Samsung 850 EVO The other parts look good.

Wait.. you guys actually bothered to take 5min and research the topic about a video you're making instead of just half-assing yet another "workshop" video with plainly false conclusions.. what? Better be late than never I guess, right?
Anyway.. regarding the topic, this is one I actually would not expect much of a result if any. Unless the contact surface of the heatsink is severely scratched or uneven you shouldn't see a difference, the thermal paste should be able to take care of filing any micro scratches or lightly uneven surfaces.

    this was one horrible video

the title sais CPU and heatsink lapping, Luke only did the heatsink
these days, heatsinks are flat enough, but CPUs still aren't

there are claims that lapping both the CPU and heatsink to a flat mirror finish eliminates the need for a thermal compound; never tested it for myself tho

if you start a project, see it through the end

At 3:31  you say cable management and airflow direction have no impact, this may be true for the CPU, but restricted or hotter airflow can have a negative impact on other parts like HDD e.g. Please be careful if you make statements like that.

Might be a virus. Maybe one of your drivers/software is leaking memory like crazy.
