  1. Thanks a lot for helping, aparrently the HDD is on its last. Running a 640GB with a backup done from the previous HDD. Marked solved :-)
  2. So I tested each RAM block independently and tested both slots independently with working RAM from another laptop. No change. Ran memtest for 8 hours, no errors. Got the hold of a new HDD to test with tomorrow and will let you know from there.
  3. The BIOS update did not help , but I found out that when the PC is force shutdown, the problem does not occur. So the problem only occurs when the is: restarted, shutdown via windows and set to sleep. I now supect the RAM might be fault, even though I tested it already, I will do it again. I will also still be testing the different parts of the pc (might even test another HDD I have lying around...). And will give some feedback along the way. Thanks for helping guys, it means a lot
  4. Damn... I never thought of a BIOS update... I will try it tomorrow (getting late here) also I already tried running without DVD drive and harddrive, but I might go down to only nessesary parts and try some different RAM configurations. Thanks for the answer I will let you know if it worked
  5. Hi LTT forum I have a laptop which only turns on the third time i try. The first time the fan and harddrive spin up and lights come on, but after about 3 seconds, without anything on the screen, it turns itself off. The second time same happens, but the laptop keeps being on, but still no video or backlight on the screen. I have let it stay on for about 5 minutes, but not even the packard bell bootscreen comes up. I normally force close the laptop at this stage, by holding the power button. The third time the pc boots like a charm. Rarely it starts in the first try, and when it does it is after a force shutdown when windows is booted and has been used over a longer period. Pretty much the same happens when the lid on the laptop is closed, and the pc goes to sleep. When I try to open it, it spins up with nothing on the screen and shuts down. As soon as the laptop is started everything runs like a charm. No crashes after sessions of 6-8 hours of stress tests The laptop is a 'franken-build' where parts from 2 defective laptops have been built together. The case, screen, keyboard, speakers and trackpad are from an Acer V3-571G and the rest is from a Packard Bell TS11-HR I have a sneaking suspision of the GPU being the problem, but it seems wierd as the three tries are acting the same every time and are consistent. Specs: CPU: Intel i5-2410M GPU: Geforce GT540M RAM: 2x4GB DDR3 sticks HDD: 500GB Western Digital Screen: Original 1366x768 Acer Things I tried: - Changed CMOS battery - Tried another battery (Same model of Packard Bell) - Tried other charger (Same model of Packard Bell) - Tried running without battery (Charger only) - Changed screen (The one in the packard had a crack) - Ran without DVD drive - Ran without HDD - Ran without keyboard and trackpad - Swapped RAM, tried one ram, tried one ram in slot 2 - Changed thermalpaste and cleaned cooler (under stress the CPU never goes over 75 and GPU 80 degrees (Ran all tests thrown at it stable for several hours)) - Updated all drivers New things I've tried: - BIOS update Any help would be wonderful
  6. I actually used to have sony phones, but after a longer period of trouble with a sony xperia ray, I went out and got a samsung galaxy s2. Later i got the s3 and s4 and before seeing this video I havent looked back at sony for that period of time. I seems like the Z2 is easily superior to the galaxy s5. I LOVE the waterproof and dustproof features of this phone combinded with a great battery life. I never heard of dbrand, but might just look into it more because of the (by the looks of it) high quality of materials used in the covers.
