  1. ooo ARGB on the CPU cooler does sound fun. What can I say, I like pretty lights. I'm curious what the rationale for the switch to the MSI B760 mobo was? Mostly for price or also because of the available features? Thank you for your feedback!
  2. Gotcha, yeah PCBeExpensive was just suggesting a 970 EVO as well. When I was looking into it I got a bit wrapped up in the PCIe 3.0/4.0/5.0 options for SSDs. But I'm not sure how much those interface differences will really matter for my use cases. As for the GPU brand, that's very fair. There's definitely some value in having a good reliable company with a solid RMA process to fall back on if that becomes necessary.
  3. Thank you for putting this together! I like these suggestions. Cheaper power supply seems like a solid move and I think I might swap in this less expensive case as well. Going to reconsider my choice in SSD and will definitely consider this one.
  4. Thank you for your reply and suggestions! Yeah, 2x16GB is probably a better choice. Can always get 2 more sticks later if it becomes needed. I'll adjust that. And I'll take another look at the SSD options to see how much more something more name-brand will cost. Wasn't sure how much difference that made since (at least the advertised) transfer speeds on this one looked good to me. I was looking at PowerColor because I found a coupon on Amazon that brought the price down to $880 for that particular one. Does Sapphire give better performance, reliability, or both?
  5. Budget (including currency): $3000 USD. Somewhat arbitrary and there is some flexibility in this amount. But I'm also fine staying under budget. Not necessarily looking to try to max out that specific dollar amount. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games, coding. As for the type of gaming... all sorts, really. Here are a few I've enjoyed in the recent past: Hogwarts Legacy, RDR2, Factorio, OSRS, Horizon: Zero Dawn, CS:GO Other details: I am working on a new PC to upgrade from the GTX770/i7-3770k that I've been running for the last decade. I'm upgrading because those parts are pretty dated now and I just finished grad school so this is something of a graduation gift to myself. The plan is to build a new system from the ground up rather than upgrade the existing one. I haven't picked out any new monitors yet but was considering running at 1440p (though I am toying with the idea of 4k instead). So far I've put together the following list of parts and I was hoping to elicit some general feedback or opinions on improvements from you fine folks: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L7hhnt
  6. Anyone found somewhere that is actually shipping the K95 RGB blue switches? My preorder was supposed to ship 2 weeks ago and newegg says they still havent gotten them from Corsair yet. Amazon's page says ships in 1 to 2 months.
  7. Anyone else pre-order from Newegg? It said it would ship 9/24 when I preordered, but I haven't gotten a shipping notification and the page for the keyboard (k95 RGB blue switch) now says "Out of Stock: ETA 12/31/14" I am... slightly concerned. Wanted to see if anyone else is having a similar experience. EDIT: Newegg's FAQ says tracking numbers for shipped items are sent out after 6:30PM Pacific Time on the day it ships. I'll save any panicking for after that ;-)
  8. I don't really care much about the logo, just excited to get my hands on one of these. They look so coooooool! And the crossed swords seems pretty clever to me. Keeps with the pirate theme. I like it; Though it sounds like I'm the only one.
  9. Rentaspoon, the k70 and k95 with Red/Brown/Blue switches went up for preorder today. They ship out 9/24. i.e. the K95 with blue switches: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=23-816-026
  10. Preordered my K95 RGB with Blue switches this morning from Newegg! Scheduled to ship out on Wednesday (9/24)!! http://promotions.newegg.com/corsair/14-5000/index.html Links to a page where you can preorder each switch type for both k70 and k95 are availble if you scroll down a little on that page ^. Just click Shop Now and it takes you to the Newegg listing.
  11. Found K70 RGB Brown and K70 RGB Blue on Newegg.ca: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823816025&cm_re=k70_rgb-_-23-816-025-_-Product http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823816024&cm_re=k70_rgb-_-23-816-024-_-Product Didn't see them on the main site when I checked, only the Canadian one. Also the Blue switch listing says out of stock.
  12. Ah forgot about the first question. I think the LEDs have ten adjustable brightness levels so you can set it to suit your personal preference.
  13. HAHA. Let me summarize for you: Corsair originally said late July for k70 with red switches and late august for everything else. That obviously didn't happen. The K70 RGB with Cherry MX Red switches is now available for order if that is what you want. Waste no more time! Go buy it now! If, instead, you are waiting on the K70 with Brown/Blue switches or the K95 in any color of switches, you will have to wait until "Late September" (Source: Corsair's Facebook page). I'm not sure about the release date for the K65... I don't recall reading an estimate for that one. Prices (In the USA) are: K70: $169.99 K95: $189.99 K65: $149.99 (based on a dollar amount written on a display behind the K65 in a video showing the ten-key-less board) If you want to know the prices outside of the USA... you'll have to check the thread, I didn't really pay much attention to that part heh heh (sorry) For more information you can check out this blog entry from Corsair James. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2014/september/corsairk70rgb On the page you will also find a download link for the software you'll need to program the RGB keyboards. I downloaded it but haven't used it yet... waiting on the K95 release !! (Blue switches)
  14. Awesome picture! Thanks for the link to the software in your blog entry, been wanting to get to look at that! The README file (yes, I read the README file ) that came with the software says Supported Products: Corsair Vengeance K70 RGB. Will the same Corsair Utility Engine software support the K95?
  15. I cannot speak to when Best Buy will have it up on their site but I know you can order it from newegg or amazon right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823816022 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Mechanical-Keyboard-CH-9000063-NA/dp/B00KX8OJK6 If you are thinking of the Best Buy exclusive that was mentioned earlier in this thread I think that only applies to the RGB K60.
  16. Was the claimed end of September release date for the other switches only in reference to the K70 or was the Corsair Rep speaking to the K95 as well?
  17. Did it mention k95s? I went and glanced at the /r/MechanicalKeyboards threads but I couldn't find the one you are referring to.
  18. RIght. What he means is that he thinks they are referring to the new RGB LED configuration fixing the problems that were causing LEDs to burn out in previous versions of the K70/K95 (specifically the issue of ESD, from what I hear). As opposed to Corsair discovering an issue with their new RGB LEDs, fixing that, and then declaring that to be fixed in that facebook post.
  19. Not sure if anyone already pointed this out, but Corsair posted this to their Facebook page yesterday: "Fellow gamers, We know some of you are patiently waiting for the RGB keyboards we announced in June. Our launch date has changed, but fear not: we'll be shipping soon and will provide more details in a few weeks. We have only the highest expectations for this product, and want to deliver our community the very best. Thanks for your patience."
  20. Hi Dicehunter, Where did you see that? The only thing I could find on a later release for Blues and Browns was for the K70. It looks like Corsair's current renditions of the K95 only come in Cherry MX Red switches according to their website. Did you read something somewhere that indicated there would be MX RGB K95s with blue and brown switches? (this would make me quite pleased but I haven't been able to find that anywhere, much to my chagrin) Thanks
  21. hahah great idea! Share that one out when you do!
