I looked into this a while back, I think the difference is the packaging.... I think the normal one comes in a full retial package while the business one comes in a simpler package with fewer items.  I could be wrong.

simtransporter got a reaction from XKefka in What is with consoles and linus
It has been said many many times...

The main point and reason why people seem to dislike consoles or prefer PC is probably due to the closed nature or "ecosystem" of consoles.

PC has always offered more options in terms of hardware configuration, keyboard and mouse/controllers/input devices, multiple monitor support, higher resultions like 4K and beyond, mods, extensive graphical settings, selection of games available including a larger amount of exclusives and indie games only playable on PC, as well as accessories and extras that you can plug into a PC.

People can also choose how much they want to spend on a PC depening on the level of performance and/or features they want.  It's about having the options and freedom to do what you want.

Not to say that you can't do some of those things mentioned on console too, you can! but it's genearlly more restrictive as a platform giving you less options when compared to PC. There are however some benefits that come with a 'closed' platform such as ease of use, less setup and configuration required, potential for better support etc.

PC can also run many other applications besides games, movies and entertainment which is what consoles primarly focus on.

Somtimes though... it's not down to specs and features, sometimes it's simply to do with the games you want to play and the platform your friends are on.

The tx3 is pretty small, not really gonna be the ideal cooler for the 4790k. 80C is fine as a peak temp, but is that cooler really "ok" cooling?

It's hard to tell without having all the info... have you checked what voltage is the cpu running at? if you have it set on auto in the BIOS/UEFI it could maybe spike up the voltage much higher than it needs to when it's under high load such as prime95 which is pretty intensive and can generate a lot more heat than if the processor was under a actual real load.

simtransporter got a reaction from husseinHr in Will virus carry over from old phone if I transfer old files to new phone?
If you are just transfering perosnal data such as photos and videos and not apps, .apk, executables etc it's unlikely you will infect the other device if you had a virus.

If you already use it or even have regular backups setup then the cloud storage solution would probably be the eaiset way to transfer your data, but it could take a while depending on the amount of data and bandwidth available.

If you want to be super paranoid about it you can transfer the files to a non-networked computer and then run a scan on the files you've copied.  Once you're happy they are safe you can copy them over to the new phone.

If she reinstalls the same virus app on the new phone then yes.
If you only transfer photos/documents and reinstall the programs from the official store then there shouldnt be a problem. If you transfer the programs you can also transfer the virus.

What kind of files are we talking about here? If possible dont move apk's.

Plug the drive into another PC, go into Disk Management and have a look what's actually there. It might have a recovery partition or something.

I was just curious. Also, that motherboard can support a core 2 quad which you could definitely still run at least a few  modern games with, if Luke and Linus' Scrapyard wars PC is any indication.

I've been playing it occasionally since it's release and I'm enjoying it so far...  the multiplayer is pretty good, there isn't a a lot of maps at the moment but they will be adding some more soon as well as some other dlc, some will be free and some will be paid.

If you are a star wars fan I think you will enjoy it. It's a very good looking game, the attention to detail in the visuals and sounds are just brilliant, it really manages to capture the essence of star wars.

If you are ever worried about remnants of malware or anything like that... the ATA secure erase command on a SSD will pretty much guarantee to wipe out everything on the drive, from what i've read it applies a voltage spike to the nand and physically flushes the stored electrons resetting all blocks.  It uses one p/e cycle but it's supposed to be the most secure method to erase a drive.

    1. It will format for you if needed
    2. You need to boot to the CD which might not be the first thing on your list so going into the bios may be needed.
    3. The procedure varies per motherboard, you'd have to consult your manual.

simtransporter got a reaction from sirbonneville in how to install win 8.1 on a new pc
    1. yes, the installer can format and partition the drive for you.
    2. maybe, probably yes if there's nothing else to boot from, if not go to boot menu or bios boot order and make sure it's set to boot from the disc drive.
    3. check your motherboard's manual.

Every OEM PC with Windows 7 and below will have the product key on a label stuck to the PC. If it's Windows 8+, the product key is stored in the PC and will automatically activate when Windows is installed.

Maybe the reason the update details weren't there before, (and they won't show old ones) is that they now have the really malicious update already in place.

    I'd say go for it.

I've bought a few used CPUs in the past for various projects and never had any problems.  CPUs tend to last a long time.

Of course check the seller's feedback and make sure you're happy with it first.

simtransporter got a reaction from werto165 in Is core voltage meant to fluctuate?
Yes it is normal. I believe it does this to save power when the processor is idle by lowering the clock and dropping down the voltage, and then scaling it up on demand.

You can however manually set a fixed voltage in the BIOS or UEFI if you don't want it to fluctuate like that.
