  1. That extra 70$ will go a long way my friend. Get the i5, its newer, low power, more defined/powerful cores hence more gaming performance. More then 4 cores is not needed in games.
  2. perfect, this will literally outperform the rig fbomb posted in a million different ways.
  3. if he can spend abit more, get a fx-8320. The cores will help in smoother streaming. For gpu get the r9 260. You can get a am3+ mobo for 50$ so that will remain the same.
  4. I personally think you should get a 970 as its newer, directx12, less power. The 290 is an amazing card dont get me wrong, the 970 is a better option for the future. If you are down to wait, amd is about to release there new cards soon.
  5. ye what else..... Its what i did. I have a 60 ft cat 6 cable running from two rooms down and made a perfect hole through the walls to reach my pc. The holes are clean and small
  6. There is a huge price jump along with a 4 thread count jump. How badly do you need extra cpu cores and for what? Also your clocks will honestly depend on the cpu you get (in terms of binning). I am pretty sure you can garuntee to 4ghz range with majority for sure
  7. LOL you cant do that. Youll need a modem from your ISP that will give you DSL from the phone jack and from the modem you can run you ethernet. From what i remember 100ft of ethernet will give you much better connection then wifi. In terms of cost http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-Cat5e-Ethernet-Patch-Cable/dp/B003RCEAB8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431753992&sr=8-1&keywords=100ft+ethernet+cable Thats a start ^
  8. perfect, you have a 100 watt headroom which is always good
  9. go with the asus z97 I have been using that on my 4790k for 6 months now. it overclocked really well and asus gives you alot of good programs to help overclock fan control etc. Not that the evga would not. Just telling you what i think
  10. how? 8.1 is just an update, its the same thing as 8. Also i have installed windows 8.1 on loads of old computers and it always worked fine. Maybe you did something wrong
  11. Yes that would be enough, you can go here http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jspand check
  12. Did you check if there was any physical damage? Also when you installed windows you didn't see any wifi card in device manager?
  13. my 970 is also getting sag =(
  14. The x99 platform cpus(5960x etc..) do support ecc. just download the pdf manual of any mobo you want off of there website and check if ecc is supported.
