So I would like to set up something that allows me to "store" some media (photos, movies, music), which i want to be backed up to an external drive, as well as be a backup for some other files like documents.
The issue is, I know I can do this with a Windows computer as the server with an internal and external drive, (2TB should be fine) but a cheaper option like storage on a router would be preferred.
Is there a router with 2 USB 3.0 ports that allows me to connect a 2TB drive to store the media on (networked) and also another drive that is a backup of the storage drive.
How i would do this on the Windows server option would be using a program to automatically backup each day to the external. (A router with 2 ports that cant do the backup itself is not as useful because the copy would have to be done from a computer and I want to minimize power usage)
Also what speeds are required for good network storage speeds, eg fastly loading very High quality JPEGS or watching FHD media? and what routers are best for this. (I've heard Nighthawk is best with 70BM+ LAN speeds)
Other info:
Some computers wired and some wifi.
Happy to provide more info if i was too vague.
Any other ideas fire away!
Thanks
