The Thinker's Achievements

  1. As the title says, starting yesterday google search and youtube will regularly time out and not load. This is happening for all devices on the home network. A few other random websites (forums, media, etc) also are coming back with the same issues. However, if I turn on a VPN everything works flawlessly. What the hell is the deal? I have also tried hard resetting my network.
  2. One of the rare instances where the problem actually could be captured by screenshot glad to have helped!
  3. Are you sure it's not YouTube's shitty "ambient mode", you can disable it in settings
  4. Hey everyone, hope you had a merry Christmas I upgraded from a Samsung ultrawide I got at Costco to the Dell S3422DW, however the first thing I noticed when turning it on is there is a 3mm region along the top and bottom of the screen that goes all the way across in which the image is brighter. Seeing as I haven't experienced this on any other monitor, I'm curious if it'd a common issue/trait with these monitors? I have a replacement on the way but am concerned it will be the same. Aside from this, any recommendations for a better 3440x1440 ultrawide in the 350-500 USD range?
  5. Just wanted to update the thread as I forgot to do so sooner. After closely going over the card and looking at the card-heatsink junction, I found that the standoffs in the heatsink were not all the way tightened. I believe they backed out a bit when I first unscrewed the heatsink. I tightened them up then reassembled the card and now my temps are better than ever. Because the standoffs were every so slightly unthreaded, it wasn't allowing a full mount between the die and the heatsink.
  6. I have not tried the X pattern yet, only a dot in the center. I'll give it one more shot and see what happens.
  7. Checked that with a phototach, all of them are spinning at the same rate.
  8. Hahaha yeah I have no idea what the deal is. I am running it through Valley right now just to monitor some temps and see what its doing. Everything so far shows the core getting hot first so it is not the VRMs, they heat up slowly over time and level off sooner. The core keeps climbing till it hits around 85c which is absurd compared to what it was getting before. I'm gonna take the card apart one last time and reassemble it just for peace of mind that everything really is installed correctly, but I know it wont do anything. At least it will give me something to do
  9. I have a 390 and it holds its ground respectable against my friends 1080. Seeing as I paid 150 for the 390 and he paid over 600 for his card, I am extremely happy with my decision.
  10. I have done this before to other GPUs so I am no stranger to the task. The heatsink is properly tightened down, any more and the small screws will start to strip.
  11. The middle fan on my Strix 390 died so I had to replace it. To do this I had to separate the heat sink from the card which meant reapplying the thermal compound upon reassembly. Before, my card would idle around 30c and peak at 70c, now it idles at 50c and immediately goes up to 80c+ when gaming or stress testing, even when the fans are at max. This even occurs when playing games that would previously barely push the card. I am using Arctic MX4 thermal compound. I thought maybe the new thermal padding was an issue but when using GPU-Z I see the high temp is in fact the core and not the VRMs. What I have tried: - DDU uninstall/reinstall GPU drivers - Remove overclocks and afterburner - Different amounts of thermal compound - To keep things consistent, I keep fans at 100% verifying the speed with an RPM reading from GPU-Z
  12. The classic mom asking the "how to download more ram" question, then having to explain why that doesn't make any sense.
  13. 1. Super Mario Sunshine 2. Super Mario 64 DS 3. Super Mario Galaxy 4. Far Cry 3 / Skyrim / Crysis series -TT
