CPU's can degrade over time, but if they are kept in a clean environment it shouldn't be much of a problem.
They are fragile, grease on the pads can degrade the connectivity and thus reduce stability.
A CPU in use will degrade faster than one that is not is use, but there is no "need" for it.
No, you need server/workstation grade motherboards and CPU's for that.

Doesn't really matter to me one bit. Just because a bunch of butt buddies decide to leave, it's not going to make the other 130,000 people leave the community.

The forum is far from dying off is just a few members who prefer to spam off-topic and not offer anything beneficial to the community leave. Good riddance.

But they are not recognized during POST, so the system will not boot.
