My current monitor 1080p monitor is experiencing some issues and I'm thinking of getting a new one. However, I've been looking at higher resolution displays and these 21:9, 2560x1080p monitors have caught my eye. I don't watch movies on my computer, but I do like to multi-task and I also think having a display with a unique aspect ratio would make gaming more enjoyable. I have some questions however regarding this class of monitor: To owners, does the viewing/gaming experience feel more enjoyable or simply different compared to 16:9 displays? To owners, does multi-tasking with multiple windows on-screen at the same time feel fluid and organized. How does the multi-tasking compare to other more traditional dual screen setups? Do most games newer have support for 2560x1080p resolution? What is the best 2560x1080p monitor to buy (for the money) as of now? Is getting a 2560x1080p monitor even worth it or is sticking to traditional multi-screen setups a more ideal way to go? Thanks in advance.

3 year development cycle doesn't necessarily mean improvements. I know this isn't a completely viable examination, but look at this example: MW2 vs Ghosts. What major differences are there between these two CoD games? Here's a rule of thumb I think: In a multiplayer game franchise, there should be significant enough differences and improvements between titles that someone could play 10 mins of both and know without a doubt which is the newer game. For MW2 vs Ghosts, there aren't many features that could distinguish either as a "advanced and improved" game (I know there are different mechanics, but some of them don't feel like "improvements" per say, an uninformed player could assume they were simply changes to the game). Someone could play both and think MW2 is the newer game, or they could think Ghosts is the newer game; this should never be the case. The reason I came up with this example is just to show how an extended development cycle doesn't necessarily mean there will be drastic improvements in the next title, especially when there are no changes in the back-end of development (developers, publisher, etc.).

Considering upgrading. Some help please?
MrGidwani replied to Petroklos's topic in New Builds and Planning
What is your budget? Also, wait on Maxwell, and keep your 4Gb sticks and upgrade later if necessary. More than 8Gb really isn't necessary for only gaming and using smaller sized sticks is never a good idea since it limits upgradability in the future.. -
Since we don't know the performance of next-gen cards yet, we can't say whether a single card will be adequate for 4K gaming now and in the future or not. If you already have a single 780 and you're ONLY able to get a second 6 days from now, then I'd say get the 780 because you don't know how viable the options will be in the future and you don't want to miss out on the opportunity to get the second card. But take that with a grain of salt because most people are expecting Maxwell GPUs to be able to handle 4K in which case it would actually be beneficial to wait.

I have a GTX 660 Ti and ever since the new BF4 patch, my framerate had been stuttering terribly. I normally get 60 solid on High, but after the patch, I was stuttering anywhere between 2-50FPS. My GPU usage was all over the place and my CPU usage was high and I didn't know what to do. I did new drivers and nothing worked. Then I realized in Task Manager that Windows Defender had started to run an Anti-malware program which was hogging about 40% of my CPU usage. I disabled it and now my game runs fine. You may wanna check if they same thing is happening to you, especially since you're running Windows 8, this could be the problem.

I have a CM Storm Quickfire Rapid with Cherry MX Brown switches and I'm looking to buy some custom keycaps for it (for aesthetic purposes). Below is a picture of my keyboard using the default keycaps with replacements for WASD that came with it and a printed novelty Esc keycap that my friend gave me. I want to get some good quality keycaps with fairly customizable colors (I want blank keycaps, no lettering/symbols) made of ABS or PBT plastic. Right now, the only retailer of custom keycaps I know of is http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/ and I really like how they can be customized and a friend of mine (same one who gave me the Esc. key) just bought one of their keyboards with full custom keycaps and I really like the quality of them. The only problem is that a full set is about $50 with shipping and that is a little bit on the expensive side for me, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any other reliable, cheaper-than-$50 vendors of high quality keycaps. Thanks in advance. My keyboard: http://imgur.com/UhpVXjz

why the reference cooler in Graphics cards and CPU sucks
MrGidwani replied to tedjani's topic in Graphics Cards
What did you mean exactly by "pay an extra 200$ for your CPU and a 100$ + extra for your GPU you get stock"? I just don't understand what you're trying to say. From what I understood, it sounds like you said you need to pay an extra $200 to get a nice CPU cooler and it costs $100 more for a graphics card with a nice non-reference cooler, but that isn't the case. You can get an H100i or a Swiftech H220 which are pretty top of the line AIO liquid coolers for CPU and those are only ~$100. And getting an ASUS DCUII graphics card only costs ~$30-$50 more than a reference card. And these are top of the line, basic cooling upgrades can run you as little as $30. I may have misunderstood what you were trying to say, but if I understood you correctly, the prices you said aren't exactly true if you just want a simple upgrade from stock cooling. -
I don't believe a microATX case that only supports mATX motherboards exists that's large enough to fit a 480mm rad. You can always get a large case and just put an mATX motherboard in it, but I don't think your going to find any mATX cases that support that natively. However, you could get a HAF 915F (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119292) and do heavy modifications to allow support for a 480mm rad and a mATX motherboard, but it would be large enough to allow it. EDIT: I re-looked at the specifications for the 915F and the width is only 9.7 inches. Since the mATX form factor is 9.6 x 9.6, I seriously doubt you could modify the case to support it without structural modifications to the chassis itself (unless you wanna try to ghetto mount it at a 45 degree angle or something which still may not even work with a radiator and graphics card).

I'd say I'm a realist 95%, but I may vary depending on a what a particular situation is relevant to. For example, if the situation involves the world in general or other people, I'd say I'm generally more pessimistic going into it because my hope for our world seems to be decreasing on a daily basis. However, if the situation is something that I alone endure and/or must overcome, then I'm generally am more optimistic since I know my capacity to achieve and accomplish.
