You need a new GPU Boi!! You can have the best butter in the world . but if you got a blunt knife that aint hot & sharp to cut through it . it's a mess.

With my OC on my 1700X now I can generally get a steady 200 FPS in Overwatch but yeah, I'll have to get a better GPU down the line. Not gonna buy one now with how spendy they are lol

    freesync monitor, right?

  4. STRMfrmXMN

    STRMfrmXMN

Yeah, but Freesync doesn't really matter at 240Hz and I think it adds input lag like Gsync does

whats the screen size? assuming it's probably a 24" to match your current setup.

nice , if all the three were the same size & refresh rate you probably could've tested out that ASUS concept things i posted about earlier

That would be cool but I like a 1440P IPS monitor for productivity with the 240Hz for games so IDK

i probably would end up owning a digital projector instead of buying a task specific screen if price keeps bumping up for quality component.

@STRMfrmXMN It is not that G-Sync or Free-Sync add input lag.

If you have to stay within the range of the Sync you either need to use V-Sync or limit the FPS.

Now, if you use V-Sync and you hit the cap and V-Sync will kick in, it will cause input lag.

If you limit your FPS, you will have higher input lag than uncapped if the FPS could go above the cap but at 240Hz it doesent matter as the difference is so tiny it is unnoticeable.

But if you limit FPS with something like the AMD tool or NVIDIA Inspector, it will for some reason cause the same input lag like using V-Sync so it also depends on what software you use. Best is to use in-game FPS limiter or Riva Tuner if that is not available.

$233 for that monitor is CRAZY! Absolutely fantastic deal.

Heck, if you are willing to stuck to GTX 970 you can still get that kind of FPS in many esports games at maybe mid settings.

Certain game's FPS limitations don't wreck input lag. Overwatch is one of those few games and you actually get a lot less input lag if you limit your frames on a lower-end system than if you de-cap it.

I definitely can't get 240 FPS steady with a 970 in Overwatch though.

Well, thats what I am saying. For the least amount of input lag, use the in-game FPS cap.

Yeah, 240Hz is a strech on that system but not just because of GPU.

Nah, not even a single core is maxing out on my 1700X. Upping RAM speed definitely helps but my 970 is absolutely pinned at 100% load when I limit FPS to 250.
