Eyal got a reaction from LloydLynx in Show off your old and retro computer parts
I had a geforce 4 MX 440 but my mom threw it away along with a 9800 GT *FACEPALM*. This is one reason I need to move out..

Eyal got a reaction from da na in Experiences with non-techies
Once I asked a friend (when he was telling everyone he is a computer genius) what's the specs of your PC, and he answered "XP" (it was in 2004). I asked him again, he answered "XP, you really have no idea in computers don't you?!"
So I asked him what processor does he use, he said "Intel XP" and when I said "you know XP is an operating system."
Same kid was arguing that his internet speed is 1000Mbs when there was no 1Gbit ethernet adapter on the market and all the ISP where only DSL and when I asked him what's his ping, he said "higher than yours" and I said, I sure hope so. And he thought I was an idiot...

Eyal got a reaction from Fox3211 in Can Folding@home work without internet connection all the time
I have internet connection only between the hours 10AM till 11:30PM (don't ask, It's complicated to explain), can I keep folding and it will send the things it did after I go back online? Or It will be stupid because by that time someone else already did the calculations my computer did offline?

Instead of just using a passive approach of dust filters on the cabinet / rack. (I assume from the clips in the video) Why not add a HEPA air filter to the room to more actively remove and clean the dust from the air?

If LTT did things logically, we wouldn't have half of the content that we do.

you shouldn't move your security to a VM, get a physical firewall that is business grade. VM firewalls are easier to circumvent.

Please don't use an air compressor. Air compressors don't dehumidify and can spray drops of water into your pc. We use a product called a DataVac at work, it's an anti static reversable vacuum that can blow out dust but, since it's anti static unlike other vacuums, can also safely suck up stuff in a pc too. Also no moisture drops spitting from the tip when reaching the end of the tank as there is no tank.

Eyal reacted to AshleyAshes in 4K HDR Blu Ray - Is it worth it?
No, I don't think you understand.
You're confusing what Half-Lost Lost Coast did, which was 'Tone Mapping' and can be seen in 'HDR' photography, where tone mapping is then used to represent a high dynamic range within a much more limited dynamic range with this kind of HDR. HDR in this context is not tone mapping. The player is decoding video that is stored in an entirely different color space that all but the most recent televisions do not support the processing of and it also includes additional metadata for controlling the luminance of the display.
A tone mapped HDR image is still an image that is represented in SDR. Now it is possible for a UHD BD player to offer the feature of on the fly tone mapping of an HDR image to SDR for usage on a SDR display but that'd be a feature on some models. The normal behavour is to just crush things down to SDR while any benefits of HDR are lost.
