@firereverieThanks for the advice! I saw Jays video with that drill bit and it was impressive! I'll take a look and see about bending the tubes. I'll probably just buy in excess so I can do a few practice bends. And yeah the water fittings, cable management I suspect would ruin it because id want clear tubes and fluid to take advantage of them but then youve got wires everywhere!

I expect to be grabbing a 3000 series top end when it comes out as a quick and easy upgrade so it'll be fine I suspect. Though the cpu is almost never a bottleneck at settings and in games I play so I'm not too concerned about bottlenecks happening, thats only gunna be a thing for games the outliers that have unreasonable cpu usage. ?

Hey friends! I got a LianLi 011Dynamic a couple of weeks ago and decided to go for the money shot and add a second card. (Strix 1080ti) but now the top boi gets way too hot. Oh no! An excuse to water cool my system! ? Well it's my first time doing a custom loop and you won't convince me to use soft tubing so can anyone give me any advice going into it. I'm going to make sure I'm well informed before I buy anything. Going to get that fancy front panel Lian Li reservoir while im at it! I'm not new to Pc building at all but this is my first time going custom loop so your expertise is appreciated. Yes you, specifically you! ? Couple of points I could do with help with - 1. Any benefit at all to using all the rad space (3x 360) or is that going to trip me up elsewhere. 2. Should I bend the tubes or do all the corners with fittings? Is there risk to that? 3. I was going to do EK Waterblocks configuration and tweak it a little. Is that a bad idea? Are there better options? 4, Any specialist tools you'd recommend? 5. Are Thermaltakes RGB water fittings worth the extra dislikes my build post will get. ? Im not too concerned about fucking it up because I can always just tear it down and start again, but nonetheless id love some tips that might often get missed in guide videos etc. Hope you can help!

People also disregard context and make assumptions because they dont have that context. As if the comparison is 2700x vs 8700k or 2700x vs 9900k. Whereas in nearly all cases an upgrade comes down to a budget. My context was upgrading from a 4 thread i5 to either AMD or Intels high end platform. One option would have cost me nearly £200-300 more for the kind of quality component I wanted and it sure as heck wasnt £200-300 more performance. ? Its sad though that I have to justify my build decisions to trolls who call people trolls without any idea about the build and prove from the get go they weren't paying attention in the first place. ?

Im sure it is always better to have a single card but to replace two 1080ti's with a single 2080ti? And as for folding, maybe if my GPU werent sitting at 90c at load haha but thats what im hoping to solve today. Watercooling my existing hardware vs buying a new GPU.

Hey LTT fans! I've got two Strix 1080ti's in SLI but oh my does the top boi choke now that theres a second card under there! I've had to dial back my boost from 2000ish down to 1900ish and my power limit down back to 105 to prevent it cooking my house and cats.We're hitting 90c unless I put the fans in jet engine mode. The question is, should I sink a grand into a full hardline loop to go with my LianLi 011 dynamic or should I replace the GPUs with an AIO 2080ti which would solve the breathing room issue in one go? I wanted an excuse to do a hardline loop anyway but on the other hand the 2080ti would kind render the need for it moot as it wont be an oven in there. Specs CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x RAM: 16gb 3466mhz Cl14 - G Skill Trident Z RGB. Cooler: Thermaltake Riing 360. Case: LianLi 011 Dynamic GPU: Strix OC 1080ti SLI

Greetings fellow humans. I've got a build coming up in which money isn't really an issue so I want to do something special with the case. Can anyone recommend any 3d modeling software that is user friendly which I can use to draft up some ideas for cases, or side panels? Ideally that outputs files and data which can be used by a business that operates CNC machinery or does engravings etc. I have no prior experience with software like this which is why I'm looking for something not too difficult to use. -Eve

Lol regardless I'm glad we have a bustling conversation going on. I'm actually looking at modding and getting custom case panels CNC'd or engraved for a unique build. Monitor wise yeah I'd love 240hz sure but I have two 4k displays at current so it would be a downgrade switching to 1080p and its not something I'm looking at doing, in particular because I'm very happy for the GPUs to be the bottleneck rather than the CPUs. That tech is progressing a lot more slowly. Yeah I'm one of these weirdos that prefers a lower frame-rate to dealing with Aliasing or low pixel counts. 4k144hz is a good compromise though. (lol never thought I'd say that) It basically gives me everything I could possibly want. Even that sweet af gsync. In the meantime lol we will have to wait for 4k240hz monitors to come out to satisfy you aswell atomburst!

I'll take a look at those sites and see what the price difference is. Particularly those expandable AIOs u didn't know such a thing existed!

Thanks I'll check that Gamers Nexus video now and see if the performance loss is more than the 2 or 3 percent that I thought it would be based on something else I saw.

I agree with the other points and certainly I do like the Asus Strix brand GPUs. I have to ask though, why would I be stupid to "only" have 16gb on this build I can barely count maybe 6/8 games off the top of my head which I play that use more than 8 with chrome open, never-mind 16. I mean I'm not going to get 32gb over 16gb in a gaming only build if I'm just going to sit with 20gb free at almost all times. Surely It would be stupid to buy more than 16gb? I don't understand your rationale. Silicone lottery? Is that a site where people sell binned CPUs? That I have to check out! Great advice overall. I think I saw Paul / Kyles podcast checked out an article from Toms hardware where the performance was measured. I think its something like a 2/3 percent gain going to 16x/16x. As for CPU I dont mind the price bump going to extreme edition but I don't like the lack of guarantees on the solicon lottery. If they only turbo up to 4.3 ghz I'm worried I'd find myself wishing I had gotten a guarantee 5ghz 8086k. On the other hand do X series support Quad Channel? As I understand it that would yield significant improvements. Lol yeah just waiting for them to die. (Kidding lol it's a settlement payout)

I might have to agree. They are pretty nice looking and it would fit the rest of the build which at the moment seems to be almost entirely Corsair.

Waddup dudes! Within 3 months I'll be getting a quite substantial amount of money. I've decided to set aside £10,000 (>$13000 usd) as a maximum expenditure on a new PC explicitly for gaming. Although seeing as that falls well above the amount needed for a max spec PC, I don't expect to spend that much. So no silly additions just to fulfill the budget quota if it doesn't add to the experience! So yeah for all intents and purposes budget is secondary as long as I dont go for anything stupid that has no gaming benefit (PCIE SSD's etc) PC Part Picker Link This is a baseline that I'm working from as I figure out what I want. Link Graphics Cards It'll have 2x RTX 2080ti's in SLI. I can't see that changing unless something more powerful comes out! Yes their price per $ is ridiculous but I already have a 1080ti so this is the only upgrade path. Which AIB do you think I should go for? And if I do a custom loop, does that change things? (Cosmetics is a consideration, and the Gigabyte cards are selected in the PC Partpicker link because the other brands are not on sale yet, they are not my preference). Display Interface I was thinking at least one 4k 144hz Gsync display. I'm not necessarily sold on which one but I want Gsync, I'm in love with 4k so this again, is my only upgrade path. I currently have a 4k60fps non-gsync monitor that I plan on using as a secondary display. Mad question, but what do you think to blowing my budget on three of them would be worth the buyers remorse? Do you guys think 3x IPS 1440p 165hz Gsync displays would be a better purchase? I'm not the Esports type so IPS is preferable over TN 1ms. I do play Elite Dangerous a lot so 3 displays would get used. CPU i7-8086k It's the best CPU for gaming right? In almost all cases? Is there anything I'm not aware of that would be better? VR I have a Vive. I don't currently see the value of going for the Vive pro but it's not off the table. Memory In this price point we are going RGB unicorn farts all over. So I figure that G-Skill Trident Z rainbow goodness is the best looking. Different opinion? Will these sticks cooperate with Corsair LL fans and peripherals? I am thinking 2x 8GB sticks at around 3000 or 3200 mhz. Should I get 4 sticks instead? (I don't think 8086k supports quad channel?) Have any games demonstrated ram usage higher than 16gb? I'm the opposite of a tab hoarder, anything that shouldn't be open gets closed. I'll have a 4k chrome video on while gaming but even that I don't expect to exceed 16gb. Case There are too many options. I need ideas! Tempered glass is sexy. I want it to work with my RGB Goodness. I like the Corsair Crystal 570x but again I'm easy here as long as it's good looking. I selected a Corsair H150i PRO which will have it's fans replaced. Fans Corsair LL series, duh! It's 2018! I watched BPS Custom's round ups on (all) the RGB fans and these are just the prettiest. PSU PC Part picker predicts a usage of at least 704w so I went with a Corsair HX1000i. Given that I will certainly be overclocking both GPUs and the CPU, will a 1000w platinum be enough? I'm not fully aware of how much overlcocking these specific components will effect their power draw. Storage I'd like at least a 1tb SSD for games. So I figure Samsung 970 Pro. Shall I go for the Evo instead and save a few bob? I know load times are only marginally faster. Then uh.... 4tb HDD storage for everything else and games in which load times are not an issue? I've never played around with RAID before so perhaps now is the time to consider doubling up on drives for more speed? Should I bother? You reckon it's worth going all SSD and having less capacity? For the quieter build? Motherboard I picked an Asus Strix Z370-E. Is there a board that will definitely yield better overclocking results? My only specification is that it must have built in WiFi so I'm not faffing about with extra expansion slots. Why have an extra card when instead there could be air there! I have a 100mbps connection but we are thinking of upgrading to 500mbps soon seeing as its only £10 a month more expensive. Keyboard & Mouse Cherry MX Red, It has to be and I have a Corsair K70 already but yes I'm willing to buy a new one just for RGB. Decadent! Mouse wise I use the M65 RGB already so I dont need to buy that. Thought about getting the Schimtar though. With all those side buttons I could play Diablo 3 with just one hand! Any keyboards or mice that are going to giver me a better experience? Here's the stuff I don't have a clue about! A Chair. I have a bad back. So I need a good one. Don't have a clue what's good, or what's snake oil. A Desk! No idea where to start, a sit stand desk sounds interesting and good for my back, but all in all I just want plenty of space for potentially 3 monitors (at least 2), keyboard, mouse and HOTAS. What about an Obutto Revolution? Laptop. Yup! I might just chuck this whole idea out the window, buy just the 4k144hz monitor for my existing build and instead of buying all this stuff, get the best laptop money can but that isn't the size of a house. Lol check my specs. i5-4670k. 1080ti. I believe it is utilizing the GPU to its full potential. Im hitting expected FPS targets from online benchmarks anyway. I do play in 4k however so the CPU isnt putting out many frames. If I was playing at 144hz the story would be different. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule. CPU bound games do exist.
