  1. Ok, thanks. I've been reading reviews on the R700 and I'll buy it.
  2. So, I always new that my router wasn't great. I had 30 mbs down and I would only get about 10 at the far end of the house. The coverage was terrible and my iPhone very frequently wouldn't even pick up the network if I was at the other end of the house. The situation I'm in is that the room that the router was in was at the other end of the house my computer (I use about 95% of the internet in my family). I'm having the ISP move the router into my room(no I'm not selfish and for ethernet) It would be logical to put the router in the middle of the house, but no devices would be able to take advantage of Ethernet ( the holy grail) so that's pointless. I want to get a router that can reach the whole house even if it is at one end. Dual-band is obviously a must and the more Ethernet ports the better. I've been looking at the LINKSYS WRT1900AC and a few ASUS one's but I'm not entirely sure what their benefits are. I just want a router that has 1. Dual band (5 and 2.4 GHZ) 2. Good QoS and parental controls( parental controls aren't super important) and 3. Great range. The router I have now is the Belkin N600 DB and it is garbage. Anyways, sorry for making this post so long (hopefully it explained my situation well) and I hope one of the forum wizards can help me make an educated choice.
  3. Alright. I've read up on some forums and Amazon reviews and I've decided to get the WNDR4300. (N750) I'll PM you when I get it for help with DD-WRT installation.
  4. I'd like to know the benefits of DD-WRT first before I buy though.
  5. I looked on the DD-WRT forum and it says that the WNDR4300 is basically the 3700V4 so it should be quite similar.
  6. So what are some of the features of this DD-WRT stuff and much better does it make the router? Also, should I go for the 4300 because it might have less DD-WRT support?
  7. I was looking around and found the WNDR4300. It's works with DD-WRT and it says it's a newer. I assume it's better and it's only 8 bucks more. http://amzn.to/1kv200T
  8. Ok. And is there a place to download DD-WRT like an official website? @X1XNobleX1X
  9. So I've been looking at 2 routers to upgrade to since my current one sucks. I've been looking at the ASUS RT-AC68U because reviews say it's stable and fast. I've also been looking at the LINKSYS WRT1900AC but both are quite expensive. All I really need is dual-band, a fairly good software to include prioritization, and a good range (roughly 150 ft.) I'm really new to the whole router market so forgive me if I sound stupid. Are all good routers this expensive because I don't need all the fancy VPN whatever stuff. I just want something that works well and does what I need. Help would be very much appreciated, thanks.
