@ManwithaBeard1990 In this instance you're wrong. There is no "first" 120gb. It's a drive. Period. When you install a Black2 you have two physical drives, a 120gb ssd C: drive and a 1 tb hdd D: drive. They only share a form factor, nothing else. This is why this is not a hybrid but a "dual" drive as labelled by WD. Yes it is more expensive which is why it's not recommended for desktops because it's unnecessary but in this instance it's absolutely perfect. The only caveat for this drive is that you need 9mm of clearance. With the older machines that isn't much of a problem.

You won't. It's an awkward size that nobody makes anymore. You're better off to go with a WD Black2 drive. A ssd and hdd in a single form factor. Perfect for your needs. You get decent speed and the space of a hdd. This isn't a hybrid like the sshd but better.

    Hi there OneEyedGenius,
It looks well balanced, no incompatibilities. The power supply should be more than enough. You could overclock just fine with those parts. I guess you'll be storing your OS and games on the SSD and it should be big enough too. However, If you have a lot of games and heavy load applications that exceed the capacity of the SSD, I would suggest that you take a look at the WD Black line of HDDs, which is the one that Western Digital recommends for gamers, due to its performance – http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=760. The Green drives are quiet and reliable, but are mostly suited for secondary storage, due to their energy-saving features. That being said, I wish you lots of good time with your new rig!

You should save on the CPU since you are not doing heavy rendering or transcoding. A Better graphics card would suit you better. Here is a list of things that will be compatible. I have included a case that can fit the CPU cooler. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6krvNG

EDIT- Evga 750G2 would be my first choice PSU, then a Seasonic or Be Quiet

I need to know if the parts i picked are balanced and other small thing. Here's the build:

    CPU i5 – 4690k with Cooler Master Hyper 212EVO
    MOTHERBOARD Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer
    GPU Zotac GTX 970
    PSU Corsair CX600
RAM Kingston HyperX Fury Red 2x4GB
SSD Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB
HD Western Digital Caviar BLUE 1TB
CASE Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 + 2x Cooler Master Super Fan 120

I think the Hyper 212 will fit, and the CX600 will be enough (and i don't mind not having a modular PSU).
Parts were chosen considering availability in my country and prices. The system will cost around 1300 USD (in my country ), even if pcpartpicker says it costs no more than 1200... (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PdQm7P)

Titania_WD reacted to Jetster in CPU Fan problem / Boot problem
The fan thing most likely you have it set to a slow speeds. Change it or set your BIOS to default or Optimal and restart

The boot issues. Did you have a system installed on the WD Blue before you bought the SSD? That's the issue. The boot Oder does not really matter. The BIOS will search all for a Boot record and give you options. You need to format the WD Blue (after saving the data) and then reconnect it.

If it does not boot at all after that. It because you installed Windows with both drive connected. ( You should disconnect all extra drive when installing windows) Windows will put the boot sector on the extra drive. So you may have both boot sectors on your WD blue.

So again boot order does not matter. Windows will search all drives for a MBR

Hey, Thanks for the suggestions. Thanks for clearing out the doubts about CM Hyper EVO. I guess I will go for it only then. Phantom is indeed a great case with a lot of features.

About the AM3+, I might upgrade my PC again in like 2-3 years. That is the reason I'm thinking more about going with the FX series for now. But if the FM2+ is long term then no harm in going that way too. So I want an accurate answer which is nearly impossible to get with the rumors around. So I'm looking for a reliable answer.

The Power supply is available for cheap and is 80+ Gold Rated. Rosewill do have some reputation. That is why I chose that. My initial build will do even with a 500W or 550W. But when you are getting 750W at a price of 550W or 600W one, why throw it away?

According to this discussion – http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2194511/motherboard-buy-asus-z97i-msi-z97i-gaming.html there shouldn't be a significant difference between the two mobos in question in terms of gaming. I'd also support what PokémonTrainerFour said. In all, it looks great and I hope you'll have fun with your new rig.

Titania_WD got a reaction from Tai Tran in First Gaming PC Build ($1000)
    Hi Tai Tran,

Nice job for a first build. However, you might wanna consider changing a few things as the community suggested.
Take a look at some AMD FX-8320E and Intel Core i5-4440 comparisons and decide for yourself. Generally i5 4440 shows better performance in charts, but FX 8320E can be overclocked and is considered slightly better performance per dollar.
You've noticed that the suggested PSU by other members of the community are larger than the initial one you've mentioned. I'd say, if it is within your budget, take at least 600W PSU.
    The specifications of the MSI R9 270X GAMING 2G video card recommend PSU of 500W. However, the SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R9 280X requires a 750 PSU – http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?pid=2022&lid=1#.
On the storage – the SSD looks big enough to store your OS and may be if the games you play the most fit, you should be just fine with a reliable WD Blue drive. However, since you are thinking about full HD gaming, video editing and rendering you might take a look at WD Black drives, which are designed especially for gamers and creative individuals.
    Hope this helps,

The platform itself is pretty good, no need to upgrade. The costs involved will only bring you an incremental increase in performance rather than a marked performance boost. My advice to you is just upgrade the GPU to something much nicer, and get some good HDD and SSD. For the SSD the most popular seems to be the Crucial MX100 for price to performance. For HDD, Seagate Barracuda's or WD Blacks, or WD Blue if you only get 1TB. Greens and Reds run slower. That's about it really. For the GPU, look at the prices of R9 290s, GTX 780s/780ti's and GTX 970s. If any of these should be a lot cheaper than the other three types listed, grab it!

    Hey all,
thanks for replies. I coudln't decide which one. But then I succeeded to agree with person for who this computer is, that ssd will be fine.
I bought 250 GB Samsung Evo 840 as primary hard drive. Then I bought a 1 TB External Hdd from WD.
It's bit over the budget, and summed cost equals to 500GB Samsung Evo, but I think, this way, we will get best of both worlds.

Fast and snappy operating systems and loading of frequently used data, and high capacity, reliable storage for data not so frequently used + regular backups.

Titania_WD reacted to i_build_nanosuits in which motherboard wil be suitable for this build?
It all depends on what you want to do with this system... It's unbalanced if you are going to use this computer mostly for gaming you should go with a core i5-4690K and a better GPU (GTX 970) as this would be much better, also 8GB is PLENY for a gaming rig.
BUT if this will be used more as a workstation for editing, modelling, rendering or other similar task then yes this rig is nearly perfect.
For the motherboard in both scenarios pretty much any z97 board will do, make sure you have two pcie 16X slots operating at 16X such as the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 for example which is what i would recommend for good price/features if you are in the USA.

ThyFeared, hi there,  The build looks just wonderful. Kudos for choosing drives from our Black line (the one, designed for gaming and for creative individuals). If your friend didn't like the Phantek's Enthoo Pro, I'm sure you'll find a number of other really good cases within the same price range. Now that the GTX 900 Series Graphics Cards are released, I'd personally give them a try. However, you might wanna see some online benchmarking with the 780 first.

Titania_WD got a reaction from martheus25 in Building and Upgrading. what di you think?
    Hi martheus25,

On your question: The recommended power for the Zotac Geforce GTX 760 is 600W, whereas the max power consumption is indicate to be 170-watt. For the GTX 770 again 600W is the recommended power supply, while the max power consumption is said to be of 230 W.
About the storage: I see you already have a 1TB WD Blue drive. This should be just fine. However, for heavy gaming I'd suggest an upgrade with WD Black (http://www.wdc.com/e...cts.aspx?id=760). With their performance, the WD Black drives are designed especially for gamers.

    Hi iKiWY,

An impressive build idea! Just a small note on the storage. The WD Green drives (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=780) are reliable, quiet and energy efficient, but they are recommended rather for secondary storage. The drives designed especially for gamers are our Blacks (http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=760), due to their performance.
