stuka06 reacted to doits in Noctua fans
it is a good budget cooler for 30usd, but a noctua fan is like 20. Together that is 50ish which is about the same as just buying noctua nh-u12s cooler which is better built and comes with a fan. Also you don't need 2fans unless you have an extra one laying around. The difference between one and two fans is a degree or two.
What cpu are you using? You may be just fine with hyper 212 if lower end cpu and not overclocked. Depending on your build and noise requirements you can get a 5pack of fans: https://www.amazon.com/F12-PWM-PST-Value-pack/dp/B00NTUJTAK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1500568764&sr=1-1&keywords=Arctic+fan+pwm for about the price of one noctua fan.

stuka06 got a reaction from jaggysnake57 in Bethesda hits Fortress Fallout maker with legal name-change demand
Don't they basically have to pressure them to change the name?
This is probalby the same kind of situation they were in when they were forced to sue Mojang because of Scrolls.
It's because, if they don't, they will have problems defending their intellectual property against less nice people.
They issue lies with IP legislation. They just have to react to it.

If you can stretch too 100, Define R5.
I don't know many quiet cases at your price point.

P100: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-case-p100
Another option could be a cheaper case like a Bitfenix Neos: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/bitfenix-case-bfcneo100wwxkwrp
with quieter aftermarket fans like F12 pwm co's--2 in the front for intake and 1 for rear exhaust: http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/arctic-cooling-case-fan-afaco120pcgba01

stuka06 got a reaction from Ceatra in Help me choose Between R9 290X Tri-X (OC) or R9 290X Lightning
Then I'd go for the Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X(storelink)
After further research comparing the two cards, the MSI seems to win hands down in basically every competition between those cards.
Go fo the MSI R9 290X Lightning.

stuka06 got a reaction from 1Scotty1 in Noctua NH-D15 or H110
I know. Should've taken the picture after removing the sound card.
The fan of the lower GPU hit the soundcard, so we had to ziptie the cards together, which obviously wasn't that great for the top GPU.
What I didn't take into account was, that since the sound cad takes up a PCIe lane, the CPU only supports upto 16 lanes and SLI needs both GPUs to run at at least PCIe8x, sound card made the GPUs run at 8x and 4x respectively.
Now it lookes cleaner and it's better for the GPUs.

My motherboard has a similiar layout in terms of PCIe.
The top PCIex1 slot will be blocked, but you can use the PCIex16 slot without any issues
This is how it will look

stuka06 reacted to W-L in Does thermal paste dry out?
At this point mandatory, once a cooler is removed new thermal paste must be applied every time to prevent any air bubbles from getting trapped and making poor contact. I have put coolers back on with previous thermal paste that is fairly new but only temporarily.

stuka06 reacted to Glenwing in Good looking E-ATX case
He's not talking about the pseudo-"E-ATX" boards that are an extra inch wide like the RIVE (which are NOT E-ATX spec). He's talking about an SSI EEB server board or "true" E-ATX, these boards are wider than they are tall.
@jewwe I think there are a number of Lian Li cases that will fit this comfortably, like the PC-A75 or A76/A76WX. They are very well built and have a nice clean look to the exterior although unfortunately the downside is the interiors are extremely dated in design and leave a lot to be desired there. (Also you should probably update your title to say SSI EEB rather than E-ATX otherwise people will assume you are talking about 12x10.5" boards)

stuka06 got a reaction from Shaqo_Wyn in Fractal R5 Setup suggestion
Like @Shaqo_Wyn said.
That's pretty much the reality of it. Unless you have some other way to get cool air to the GPU, move the CPU Cooler.
Air preassure wise: have the filtered bottom and front fans as intake and the 2 top (on the rad, no need for push/pull) and back one as exhaust.
-
stuka06 reacted to Shaqo_Wyn in Fractal R5 Setup suggestion
Move AIO to the top. Or sell AIO and buy air cooler.

More fins to scoop air = more airflow.
-
stuka06 reacted to MegaDave91 in What makes good airflow optimized fan?
Thin swept blades
Airflow optimized:
Static pressure optimized:
The narrow gap between the blades allows the channel of air to be much more focused against rads/heatsinks.

stuka06 got a reaction from Nup in Dark rock 3 vs hyper evo 21
quite a big price difference actually.
60-80$ MSRP according to their website.
BUT!
The unit is quite a lot bigger. and while produce better cooling results.
As always it depends. On your needs, on your budget, on your personal preference (I find the beQuiet! unit much more pleasing to look at)

stuka06 got a reaction from Faceman in EVGA mITX Cooler: replace the stock fan for Noctua NF-A9 PWM?
Well, maybe they're not as bad as you say, but your general point definitely stands.
You will have a miniscule temperature reduction for a price tag for which you could have bought a better overall cooler in the first place.

stuka06 got a reaction from timehunter in Gaming & Windows Experience on iMac 5K - iSwitched Part 4
Maybe I am in the minority, but I actually do enjoy the multipart episodes.
There was obviously a lot to talk about when it comes to the iMac/OSX ecosystem and looking beyond the usual scope of high performing PC parts gives one a better understanding of the realities of the tech market. I will probably never own an iMac. But that does not mean I shouldn't know about them.
