Comprehensive Memory Overclocking Guide
Clyne replied to MageTank's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have gotten 4.8-4.9GHZ cache stable, but that was with around 1.44v. Think I'll go around with a slight increase in vcore for 4.5-4.6 cache. -
Comprehensive Memory Overclocking Guide
Clyne replied to MageTank's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Board somehow doesn't like 3600 unless I adjust tRDWR to match tCL number....I'm sure gonna fry the IMC soon at that voltage. -
Messing around memory overclocking...secondary timings could use bit more adjusting I think.... I tried 15-16-16-28-1N but that had more latency than 15-15-15-31-2N

FX single thread is mostly the same with Core 2 when you compare clock to clock, just get Sandy Bridge in general as it has better IPC and single threaded performance.

I got some messed up ram Does 15-14-14-35 at 3466MHZ but refuses to do 20-20-20-40 at 3733MHZ 1.4V RAM voltage and 1.2V IO/SA voltage.

You have to fix your teredo, make sure it's enabled in device manager.

Delidding is no harm if you delid in the proper way, it's more like people are afraid of breaking their CPUs when delidding. Using Rockit88, deliddiemate are delid tools that does it safely.
-
Just delid if you reach overclocks that is blocked by the temperature, running a 8700K at 4.8GHZ isn't going to give massive heat with a decent cooler.

Not worth it, I find that prices are cheaper in the US still after looking at hardware prices in HK. GTX 1080 was around 700 USD when I went there around July 2017.

Xbox is pointless since most of it's exclusives are now on PC due to Play Anywhere. PS4 still is tempting to buy for most people because of it's exclusives.

PS doesn't use AVX
-
7800X beats 8700K in computing related situations, 8700K lacks AVX-512 whereas 7800X has it. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/hpc/Skylake-X-7800X-vs-Coffee-Lake-8700K-for-compute-AVX512-vs-AVX2-Linpack-benchmark-1068/ 8700K still wins in gaming because it's using the Ring Bus arch, meanwhile 7800X is on mesh. Ring bus has the lowest latency of them all, meanwhile Mesh would have the worst latency. Infinity link scales with memory speed and those results are showing 2400MHZ.

Cancelled Floatplane, but still have access?
Clyne replied to sensi277's topic in Forum Bugs and Issues
No problem, just wondering why I still had this even though past the grace period. PayPal/Bank Account hasn't shown any deduction or so.- 13 replies

4.5GHZ is stock turbo core speed, temps much wouldn't really matter until you go past 1.3V+.

GNS3 and Ubunutu VM for TACACS+
Clyne commented on BSpendlove's blog entry in Server and Networking Blog
I'm trying this command, but it still seems I get Authorization Denied. Just wondering if you used Telnet or SSH for yours, but I guess redo my configurations on the router since I had no problems with restarting the TACACS service on Linux. Is it the secret key that you would use to login along with the created username? -
In general it's around 1.3v to 1.4v for 5GHZ, as a baseline you should try 1.35V 4.8-5GHZ first. The again you're not gonna get far if you want it under 65C.

Official 390 chipset spotted (Support for up to 8 Core CPUs)
Clyne replied to Thinkfreely's topic in Tech News
Yeah I already knew that 8 Core CPUs on Z390 was a rumor, decided to not get Coffee Lake as if Z390 is going to come out 2H 2018. Z370 is just gonna get killed off again like Z270 with the new Z390 chipset. This roadmap was already out before Coffee Lake came out. This comment was posted before Coffee Lake came out. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/eurocom-tornado-f5-eurocom-tornado-f7-with-6-core-coffee-lake-cpus.804068/#post-10601641- 52 replies

Cooling choice for overclocked build
Clyne replied to gt1551's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
I just think delidding is necessary if you want to reach higher overclocks, let's say starting around 5GHZ+ is where you need a delid. 5GHZ without delid is doable but that has to depend on the chip feeding enough voltage to stay under limits. I feel like delidding is worth it regardless if you're running stock or overclocked, it really makes a big temperature difference. -
CPU choice between 2 of my most powerful ones.
Clyne replied to Lean18's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Another option is just sell the motherboard, get a cheap Z170 and BCLK OC the i3. Not having a computer to use isn't the end of the world, I'm sure you had to wait to build the i3 pc. -
CPU choice between 2 of my most powerful ones.
Clyne replied to Lean18's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Sell i3, don't get the FX mobo and get a used locked i5. I switched from an 8320 to i5-6500, the difference was night and day with minimums. -
Return and get the 1800X for 320 on black friday
