  1. I hate a Note 5, rather poor battery life on my phone now... I was planning on getting the Note 8, but decided to hold off and see what the S9+ offers. Note 5 to S9+ will be a big improvement anyway.
  2. Geforce Now, Xbox, Playstation I don't mind selling my PC while making a profit, I can live without it and settle for a console instead.
  3. Most of the time, 980 Ti's OC'd will beat a 1070 OC'd as 1070 can't overclock very far. 1070 stock beats 980 Ti stock, but once the 980 Ti is OC'd then it performs near 1070 Ti-1080 stock level.
  4. Gif shows 102.99 BCLK x 8X multiplier=823mhz. Try to disable any power saving stuff in BIOS and Windows to prevent it downclocking to 8x multipler, it should be at 42-45X if you didn't touch multipler.
  5. If you're seeing 800MHZ, that is FCLK frequency. BCLK is under AI Overclock Tuner with XMP/Manual
  6. Should have been RWD/manual to replace the former range of XR6T and SS's. Perhaps also adding something like a turbo....
  7. I forgot to say similar gaming performance, regardless it's not worth it to switch IMO. I'd rather much wait for Z390 and see if the 8C/16T rumors are true instead.
  8. Just get the 7700K, cheapest option and you still get similar gaming performance to the 8700K anyway.
  9. I didn't buy used, they go around 250-270 new in box from secondary sellers.
  10. It's just 4 PCIE chipset lanes(cannot be used for GPU) that you miss by staying on Z170. Just buy a 7700K for a decent price, wouldn't pay around 330USD, more around 250-270 USD instead. Make sure to upgrade the BIOS before switching CPUs. However I'd recommend overclocking the 6600K first before seeing if 7700K is worthwhile investment.
  11. Not bad range, usually it's around 1.35V for 4.7GHZ. Currently doing 1.37V 5.1GHZ 7700K delidded, I suggest delidding to get the most out of your chip.
  12. Well you should, I'm sure the i5 would do perfectly fine but it's his money. You do realize getting 1151 is actually more expensive than 1150 right, expensive DDR4 prices still makes Haswell still viable. A used 4790K goes around 200-220, 8600K for 250. Boards for 1150 are around sub 100, and DDR3 ram is generally around 80 for 16GB.
  13. There are cases where you'd want minimum FPS, for 144HZ or whatever. The video you linked showed the 4790K around 130 FPS, while the 8700K is around 180 FPS. I bought a 7700K for 60HZ gaming because there are cases where I'd need single thread.
  14. Geforce Now, you still need to own the games in Steam/Origin/Blizzard/Uplay. It's free for now because it's in beta, but it'll probably go for the paid subscription model. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/geforce-now/mac-pc/ It was introduced last year with pricing plans, but that's replaced with a current beta status. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/01/nvidia-geforce-now-streaming-pc-mac-price-release-date/
  15. 1.44V isn't risky at all, I ran 1.48-1.5V for short benchmarks and it's fine.
  16. 1.4V on Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake is nothing... I'm running 1.44V 5.2GHZ on my 7700K and haven't even experienced any sort of degradation.
  17. Yeah it's fine, I don't draw more than 400-450W most of the time.
  18. You know single thread is a thing...
  19. 960 Evo loses but 850 Evo and Optane gain speed. https://www.pcper.com/news/Storage/Meltdowns-Impact-Storage-Performance-Really-Issue So far there's something weird going on with the 960 Evo.
  20. I had a i5-6500 that clocked to 3.4GHZ all cores paired with a R9 Fury, it was fine for 1080P 60FPS gaming.
  21. Sky/Kaby/Coffee is fine up to 1.4V for 24/7 daily, 1.45-1.5v is the max for short benchmarking sessions.
  22. If you're sticking with 60FPS gaming then just keep the i5. I don't think you should upgrade to an i7 unless you play around 144HZ, and Ryzen 5 performs on par with Skylake/Kaby Lake i5s in gaming anyway.
  23. If your board allows for updating BIOS, perhaps to try to get this cpu/combo for 400. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/sop/d/intel-i7-7700k-kaby-lake-quad/6449369828.html At least with a B250 you're getting more features than a OEM board.
