  1. Okay @James this was epic. I have NOT laughed that hard in years. Really good! I guess you should've posted it on ChannelSuperFun! #ShotsFired
  2. I think the main killer of this Pinebook is its storage device. If there was any possibility to stick SATA HDD/SSD it would perform 1000x better, but alas, who's gonna mod it.
  3. I wonder how much it will screw up the retail routers for home use. You know, those wanky 20$ nothing boxes.
  4. I would say that RAM is a quite limiting factor. 4GB for a Mac is borderline useless. I tried to use a VM a waaaay back when I had a Windows ASUS Zenbook, allocating anything less of 2GB of RAM to Mac is just not a viable option. If you plan to use Mac extensively, more RAM you give it the better. 8-16GB optimal.
  5. Well, the first question is: What sets the very first candle? Is it from the whole hour, or Current time + 15 candles?
  6. "Server grade" to me seems like a marketing trick. Like there's no other certification or authority that would specify what 'server grade' means, however it may mean that the manufacturer makes server PSUs also. As I look around the site there's no mention of the brand that makes those PSUs.
  7. Well within 2 days of uploading a reaction to Apple's new Apple Card product and Apple's legal team did not waste a minute to send a 'Cease and Desist' letter to the author - Youtuber Graham Stephan to pull his opinionated Youtube video down. Right after the author did not comply they followed with a Defamation lawsuit. The Youtuber is defending himself with the 1A and Fair use, which is, IMO, totally right in doing so. The Youtuber was pointing out in his original video a shady history of Apple's partner in crime - Goldman Sachs, which was in the centre of 2008 financial crisis and explaining the not-so-great deal from Apple Card with chargeback of 2% when using Apple Pay instead of Apple Card where you will get only 1% back. The original video, that caused the uproar in Cupertino linked below.
  8. that would be the most expensive cooling ever. Like 2 litres of liquid metal would be in orders of thousands of $.
  9. @AlexTheGreatish I have an idea: what about a big chunk of passive copper heatsink cooled by low-profile Noctua fans? That should fit into 1U wouldn't it?
  10. I just watched the intro and it was not available.... (yeah, that intro in the middle of the stream )
  11. What about a photo booth with Dennis? :DD just sayin'...
  12. well, that's fine... this is for folks who use their $2000+ devices
  13. the only problem I have with that desk is the thickness of that 'shelf', maybe could've been thinner . Next time maybe having GPU on the left side where's that weird drawer(?) built in, instead of having it quite awkwardly hidden in that box?
  14. It's been over 2 hours and it's still in 360p...
  15. I dont think FP is ready to handle to directly stream to 10-12k people at the same time at this point.
  16. "The better engineers we hire, the worse products we deliver" - Google.
  17. True, Apple never done low-cost, BUT 1000-1500$ is ridiculous. Apple has to come down from its own incredibly high horse. Those days when Apple's computers were revolutionising the US PC space are long gone, those days when Apple sold its first iPod, or iPhone, or Macbook Air are long gone. Other companies with small steps did chase down Apple and Apple's miracles are nonexistent, they wont come up with some breakthrough any time soon. Well, the market is the king and Apple failed to deliver "the next big thing" in quite some time, which was... uhm... retina on Macbooks in 2012? Maybe iMac 5K 2 years back, but they pale in comparison to the Macbook Air launch, and prices are going steep...
  18. and remove that ampersand from printf otherwise you are printing out garbage (a float interpretation of the 64bit address -> nonsense)
  19. Stagnant? Not really. What was done 10 years ago on a cluster full of Xeons costing companies millions and days of computing can be now done in hours on a few GPUs... Where we can go from that? Be more efficient in terms of power efficiency. Today we can have a computer on a overgrown USB stick! Try that with Pentium IV. The day of "MOOAR PERFORMANCE" are gone, unless you are doing some heavy lifting.
  20. Which random company sells notebook over 2000$? Dell, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte... Acer maaaybe? Not really random... and no, those pins are what, a millimetre or two apart? One sparkle because of dust particle... #shitHappens but water damage would be the first cause... so I dont think Apple macbooks are safe to use in outdoor environment
