  1. I can't go into the BIOS either way, it won't do it. I've tried everything I could research including BIOS updates and CMOS default settings (because I do get a CMOS error when I try to update the BIOS, I can't find solution to it either). That's why I'm asking if I can change the setting without having to go into the BIOS
  2. I forgot to say, yeah, I plugged the HDMI cable to the GPU, booted with it, changed it to the mobo's HDMI, still only get a black screen. I mounted the card on a different motherboard and it worked just fine, I could get into its BIOS and it was set to use PCIe already. The other mobo isn't mine though, so I can't use it.
  3. Is there a way to set the video output to PCIe instead of onboard without going into the BIOS? My problem is that my old motherboard won't go into the BIOS no matter what I do, and that setting should be the reason why that computer won't boot with my RX 480.
  4. I've tried resetting the BIOS by removing the battery for a while but that didn't fix the issue. There's no jumpers so I can't use those. Installing an older update doesn't seem to be working either. I'm not sure why it won't work since this computer has barely been touched in all these years, but if I can't find a solution to get into the BIOS then I guess I'll try a different motherboard
  5. Hey guys, I bought an XFX RX 480 and power supply to put on an old PC with an AMD Athlon II X2 255 Dual core (which I know will bottleneck, but I'm not worried about that). Basically, the monitor stays without a signal when the computer turns on with the card in. No error beeps or lights appear. I wasn't able to get into the BIOS of my motherboard so I went to Acer to get the latest update from years ago. The update installed in the command prompt but something that showed that didn't show in the instructions was "CMOS checksum destroyed." After the reboot, I come to a screen with an option to press a key to go into the BIOS setup, which does nothing, and a message above that says "CMOS checksum error or CMOS data crushed." I have looked around for fixes but I haven't found any. So my first concern first is getting into the BIOS, which I can't, so I can check for any problems regarding the 480 and black screen in any PCIe settings. Any ideas?
  6. Thanks a lot I appreciate the help:) Thanks I'll consider that:) As far as you can tell with everything else it should all work right? I've looked at all the ports and sockets and I think it should, I just don't wanna mess up on this first PC I'm building.
  7. @P Huge steal, and alright but I have a question, do all PSUs come with 2 PCIe ports? Or they don't unless specified? @K alright I'll look around, I understand that the psu it's one if not the most important part of this, thanks for the advice.
  8. US, and truth is I'm buying wholesale and all this comes out at around $500, the 4TB HDD is only $45. I looked through all the parts that I could find available and I can't seem to find any SSDs (Which would be really cheap) And again would you suggest me any PSU? That one could be on amazon or somewhere else, could be anywhere from $60 to $110.
  9. Got any 750watt suggestions? It'd really help me out. And no SSD, I know there's no budget but there's still a slight limit, I'd rather not spend so much money on a 1TB ssd which is probably the lest I'd settle for on this machine. I don't mind an HDD at all
  10. PSU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7850414 I don't know so much about PSUs 4TB: Only 'cause I can afford it, future proof. Heavy gaming. Do you mean like home or office? No budget really, it's a bit complicated and I'd rather keep it to myself.
  11. CPU: AMD FX-8350 GFX: Sapphire R9 290X 4G GDDR5 Mobo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AMD 990FX Ram: Kingston HyperX 8GB DDR3 2400 X4 HDD: Seagate 4TB Barracuda Tower: Aerocool Xpredator-X1 Black Edition PSU: 750watt I'd like opinions and if I got everything right and everything works together correctly Thanks
  12. Yes that's what I mean. Like is there some way that I can install the OS and necessary drivers without starting it up first, which brings me to two other questions. Where should I buy Windows, maybe a free download and paying for license keys? And what happens when you wanna restore? I remember on my old HP you could boot into.. I forgot what it was called.. recovery software kinda thing, with different options and one to completely restore the machine. I've found out before that with pirated windows versions, or "clean" installs, don't have that so if you can't boot into windows because of some error then you can't do anything about it (I learned from experience) I ended up having to call HP for a new drive with their windows preinstalled.
  13. No they don't, we're just starting this, it's like a project to make some money but of course doing research and knowing how everything works together and what should go together. We got all the parts ready to order to build our first PC, see how it performs, and find someone (Maybe a friend) who'd like to buy it. But when it comes to selling it, we need to give that person a brand new Windows install, like if they were buying a PC at Walmart.
  14. A friend and I want to build gaming PCs to sell for people who might request one. We can get a hard drive, but the problem is how do we install a version on Windows on it so when the other person starts up the computer for the first time the they will configure the new computer their way, but with all the drivers for the parts and everything else working and tested. We obviously don't wanna pirate windows because these computers won't be for the people who don't want to get involved with it; we want it to be reliable and legal. Do we need to buy a $200 (Or however much windows is) disk for each computer and install it with the drive connected to another one? And how do we include all the software (Drivers) we need?
