    i understand that, i own one and i do sleep better at night now...btw i upgraded from an fx8350 as well.
    the i7 will be a good cpu relevant to gaming for A WHILE so its a good investment imho.
    i'm pretty much also only gaming with it as well...and its butter smooth and id LOVE to have a gtx980

    Here are possible causes:
    1. not enough power
    2. the northbridge is overheating (I'm going from expierence on this one, shouldn't be a problem on high end mobos)
    3. cpu VRM is overheating (again, shouldn't be a problem on high end mobos, but it is possible).
     
    ^This as suggested should get your computer running stable for now if its any of the above 3 issues.
