Sorry it's been a while, I haven't stopped since 9am this morning. But after all of that, this is end result of my labours. I know one of the cables is very out of place at the moment, but I will get it sorted.

Standard fans out, Noctua fans in with a slight layout change. 2x NF-A14s in the front, 3x NF-F12s in the top, but the same NF-A14 in the back.

    Hello everyone...I'm back!

Sorry, I couldn't resist the Kojima reference.

Anyway, this is Project A.Y.U v2.0, an updated version of the current build I did over a year ago. All I'm going to be doing is making a few changes and additions. So in short, same system, just with a few different parts.
And with that, here is the parts list (parts in bold are additions):

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX - Galaxy Silver
    RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz - White
HDD: Western Digital Blue Series 4TB
PSU Cables: CableMod E-Series Custom Sleeved PSU Cables - Black and White
Lighting: NZXT HUE+ Advanced PC Lighting Kit

I will also be adding two additional USB PCI/PCIe cards. One 5 port (4 external, 1 internal) USB 2.0 card and one 4 port (3 external, 1 internal) USB 3.0 card. The reason for these two is simple. This machine will be VR Ready (I'm still torn between the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift).

The re-build will start this Thursday and I will be logging every step. Why Thursday? Well...I'm going on a trackday to Snetterton on Wednesday (2 hour drive at 5AM) and I need some practice.

So until then, here's a picture of those parts to wet your appetite.

This whole RGB mechanical keyboard thing is rather something, isn't it? So in that case, consider the Logitech G910 Orion Spark my introduction to them. And...it...is...GLORIOUS!!!
Enjoy this unboxing I did of it ladies and gentlemen
    Yes, I changed from a K70 to this...and I have no regrets.

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas. You remember that racing game comparison I did earlier this year?
Well, I kinda done another one. This time though, I've focused on more sim racers, rather than just racing games in general.
Plus for better video and sound quality, I've used an Elgato Game Capture HD60 to capture console gameplay. Still using nVidia Shadowplay for PC capture though.
So out of what you've seen and heard, which sim racer looked and sounded the best?
Let me know in the comments.
    Enjoy

Thanks to your help of course. Seriously, if you haven't said anything before, I would have ended up with dinky "made for PC" speakers and hugely regretted it. But the Amptastic Mini-1 is such a gem to use. And it's British made, along with the equally British Q Acoustics 2010i speakers. The video even got shared by Amptastic themselves on FB and Twitter. Definitely made my week off

This thread has been made for those who adore epic music.

The music that you listen to when charging into battle.
The music that you listen to when winning the race by 0.1 of a second.
And then, when all is calm, it's the music that you listen to when you need to bring yourself to a peaceful state of mind.

Two Steps From Hell for all of these scenarios, as well as many others. And I thought I'd better kick things off with my all-time favourite, Black Blade. Use this thread to post your favourites.

Well, I too am now part of this club with my new K70 non-RGB keyboard. The Cherry MX Blue switches are an absolute dream to type on. I was going to get one of the CM Storm keyboards, but the K70 won me over in the end.
The M65 and the MM200 were added extras, because why not?
    Overall, I'm loving this keyboard so far. I just can't stop typing on it...I really can't...actually, this is a serious problem...I can't stop...help me...please...

Anyway, here a pretty picture of the completed Project A.Y.U

On the 4th January 2015, I placed my order for the first parts for this build. A Z97 motherboard and an Intel "Devil's Canyon" CPU. And then birthed this forum topic from my loins.
A mere two months have passed since then. But now, finally, I have everything I need.
And all of these parts you see before you shall become one, harmonious whole this Saturday. "Why this Saturday?" you may ask yourselves.
Well, I have a reason. The Ultimate Reason. The Reason that defines all reasons.
And that reason is.........erm...I work 9-5 mate. I'm either knackered or drunk Friday. And Saturday is the best day to build this PC for me...soo...hmm......err, anyway, here's that same pretty picture of all the bits I got from the first post..but err...here.

    Enjoy

Update - 4th March 2015 - They have arrived!! At last!!

I'll be as brief as possible for the fans on this one. In the front, there'll be 3 Cooler Master JetFlo 120s. With white LEDs. Nice.
And for rear exhaust, a Corsair AF140 should do it. And the white ring will go on here too.

For storage, that SSD won't be enough. So an extra 2TB will be plenty to play with (since I am putting games on here). This comes in the form of a Western Digital Caviar Black Series drive.

Of course, a graphics card is a must for this. I know there has been the "RAMgate" story behind this card, but that didn't stop me from getting one. So here it is. An EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW+ 4GB.

And finally, the OS. I've got Windows 8.1, because...Windows 8.1...yeah.

Update - 9th February 2015 - At last!! The triple whammy order has arrived!! Woo hoo!!

First up, the SSD. Only the best has been chosen. With 250GB of space, this will be ample. A Samsung 850 EVO.

Next, the Memory. I chose this one because I trust this brand a lot (and it's predecessor has been in my current and soon to be old PC). Running at 1600Mhz, as this will be fast enough. And weighing in at 16GB...the Kingston HyperX Fury.

And finally, the CPU Cooler. One of these AIOs will do its job very well, and this one was only 80 quid from Scan. And yes, it is brand new...I checked
And I can mount it in the top of the Carbide Air 540 in a pull config with ease. Cooling the Core i7 4790K will be a breeze (ba dum tsh) with the Cooler Master Nepton 240M.
