Paul567 got a reaction from ant333man in What comes next? GTX 1080?
I imagine they will reset the numbering scheme, but there is reason for them not to.
Compare the GTX 980 to the R9 290. The GTX has the R9 beat by almost 700!

No contest, the Intel is the more powerful system. Better GPU and better CPU.
As other people mentioned, if you are just gaming with it you can probably get away with a i5 instead of an i7.

Intel hands down. Unless you're recording/rendering, doing 3d work, or streaming, you don't need the i7 and will get more than by with an i5-4460 or 4690k.

More than enough, you might even be able to run 2 of them (not entirely sure about that).

Thanks for the advice. Currently I have an EVGA 750W 80+ Gold power supply, I have a 4960k overclocked to about 4GHz right now.

So based on some suggestions from the forum, I was thinking that my newest video card would be a XFX R9 290. I went to check it out on their website and discovered that the minimum PSU required for this card is a 750W with the recommended being 850W!
Are these guys just exaggerating or am I going to go power supply shopping?

Paul567 got a reaction from GMdavidson in Google Project Fi - Google's Own Network Officially Launched
One thing I really like about this is how simple the plan is. $20 base + $10/GB of data used. Also, no bullshit regarding carriers. Run down to The States for a weekend and you don't have to worry about being raked over the coals for data usage.
Just to put these rates into perspective for my fellow Canadians (who can't use it but can hope to dream) here is how Google Fi stacks up against a Rogers BYOD plan.
1GB: Rogers - $65 / Google - $30 2GB: Rogers - $70 / Google - $40 4GB: Rogers - $90 / Google - $60 -

Paul567 got a reaction from kenny9170 in [Scary] Does it hurt getting Blood taken? (BloodChecking)
I donate blood regularly with Canadian Blood Services, currently I'm up to 10 donations.
The needle going in isn't pleasant. Does it hurt? Yeah kinda but it's pretty quick pain. Once it's in it doesn't hurt. I would rather get a needle in my arm than bang the back of my ankle. As far as the actual extraction of blood goes, no it doesn't hurt.
My words of advice for anyone giving or having blood taken from them is to make sure you are properly hydrated and fed. Seriously, if you don't drink enough water the day of the donation (you want to drink lots of water the entire day) the donation will go slower, may be incomplete and you run the risk of having a complication.

The HD 7950

To copy something I just saw on anandtech:
So that third GB can matter a lot at 1080p.

Paul567 reacted to LAwLz in Covering Windows 10 Briefing
It's not confirmed but it seems like it. They were very keen on calling Windows a service and online service earlier, and the "free for the first year" seems to indicate that it will be a subscription.
