  1. Hello, I've built a new PC which is running an i9-9900K and a 1080 Ti, both watercooled and overclocked as much as I could without messing around with the parts themselves. I figured I should turn my attention to my monitor as its a BenQ 1080p 60Hz 1ms response time monitor from the days of old. I don't really care about the price which made me look straight towards the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ and Acer Predator X27. However, according to a YouTuber going by name of totallydubbedHD their input lag isn't all that great. I like CS:GO quite a lot but I would also like to have a 4K monitor. So I am currently searching for the lowest response time and input lag having 4K monitor that is capable of more than just 60Hz. Don't care about HDR, color accuracy, thin bezels stuff like that (though nice to haves) as long as it does not have a reflective screen. Looking a bit at Newegg I have this search result to start with https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100898493 600338147 600030985. Unfortunately, they don't specify any information concerning input lag, which means that I'll have to go googling about each of them, and on top of that, not all 4K 1ms response time monitors are listed in that result (e.g. Acer Nitro XV273K is not there) and of course, 1ms response time does not mean low input lag. All of that makes this quite the search. Thought I'd ask you guys, maybe someone already knows about such a monitor around here? Or maybe the PG27UQ and X27 really are the best in which case I'd have to go down to 1440p. Maybe something Ultrawide even since I'm down there.
  2. Hello, I want to expand my knowledge concerning cases, especially unusual/nonstandard ones (like the Cougar Conquer). Please post what exotic cases you know that are in the market!
  3. Ok, here's the results. Download Upload (Mbps) My ISP server 594.32 622.42 529.46 609.70 555.66 619.29 The server I used previously(if translated to English - national telecommunication network) 190.86 164.44 190.08 164.04 190.73 164.37 Some random serer 547.70 603.90 478.24 616.64 574.83 614.11 Some random server but about 100km away 374.11 285.85 359.10 300.30 295.20 302.20 Well this is embarrassing. Looks like the server I was running my tests on previously was somehow shit. Still, even running tests on my ISP server from my PC I get similar results as previously.
  4. I'm in Lithuania so I doubt that my ISP and the plan would be very helpful to you. I've noticed that through my 5G connection I can get up to 100Mbps(a bit over 12MB/s). I'm currently rather ill but I'm planning on confronting them when I'm better. By the way, do you also get absolutely terrible connection performance when online gaming on the 5G connection?
  5. @paddy-stone "When you say "server" are you referring to an OOKLA speedtest server?" Yes, I meant OOKLA speedtest server. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
  6. Taking the ethernet cable out of the router and putting it into the Laptop yields the following results: D - 95.07Mbps U - 95.13Mbps On the same server, ofc. I don't understand anything anymore. Previous cable tests where with a cable coming out of the router and into the laptop which gives me better results than simply having the ethernet cable going straight into the laptop. What?
  7. I've done 2 tests today at different times. I used this PC and the laptop that is in the same room as the router (although opposite corners). The laptop itself is an Acer Aspire E15-571G The first one was at around 14:30 and the second one around 21:30. I made sure that all of the tests use the same server. Both devices are using the 2.4GHz connection. 1st PC: D - 59.05 Mbps U - 187.76 Mbps Laptop(Wi-Fi): D - 63.71 Mbps U - 90.92 Mbps Laptop(cable): D - 191.31 Mbps U - 190.48 Mbps 2nd PC: D - 64.52 Mbps U - 192.00 Mbps Laptop(Wi-Fi): D - 61.67 Mbps U - 87.45 Mbps Laptop(cable): D - 191.53 Mbps U - 191.60 Mbps While doing the second test I also decided to bring the laptop over to my PC room and do a Wi-Fi test while sitting next to it. Results were: D - 74.02 Mbps U - 87.92 Mbps. @paddy-stone The PC is using the 2.4GHz 11n connection. I know this because if you look at the task manager it says Connection type: 802.11n and the SSID: Mist. My 5GHz access point is called Mist 5G which is normally used by my phone.
  8. Ok, I'll try doing some speedtests and will connect a laptop via ethernet and see how the speed holds up tomorrow. As for the channel, the router is picking one automatically based on what's crowded. It's pick is usually not crowded at all. There's only 2 devices connected to it right now. My PC and my phone.
  9. Hello! So I'm trying to figure out why my internet speed or at least bandwidth is so small. Maybe my internet provider is pulling one over me? Please help me figure out what's Actually going on here ;( My setup: My internet is supposedly 600Mb/s (according to the provider) The router that I'm using is Netgear Nighthawk R7000 Router firmware - Tomato v1.28 by shibby I'm using a Wi-Fi PCI adapter TP-Link Archer T9E My PC - MOBO: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 CPU: AMD FX-8350 RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) 1866MHz C9 GPU: Asus Strix GTX 970 Distance between PC and the router ~5 meters (obstacle - concrete wall that has a partially closed wooden door in it) My situation: I wasn't expecting 50MB/s download speed but I did expect to have something similar in the bandwidth. I wanted to be freely watch YouTube 1080p 60fps while downloading something at reasonable speeds. Right now I'm downloading GTA V Can't really watch YouTube without buffering every 10 seconds for something like 10 seconds... Task manager says this: And the router this: I'm not using the 5G channels for my PC as it tends to be very noticeably "wavy". As in, for one second you get great speed and the next nearly no speed. That goes on a loop and is very annoying when gaming.
  10. Every time I'd see the Freshbooks sponsor spot this would always catch my attention. It looked like there was a double space between "OUT" and "FRESHBOOKS.COM/WAN". Thought to myself that perhaps I'm seeing things or that it only looks like that. Eventually decided to investigate further as it keeps ever so slightly bothering me. I took a screenshot in 1080p of the sponsor spot and started measuring pixels. Attaching the result. I thought that I couldn't precisely measure them but if there was a double space it would be clear right away and I was right. Knowing Linus he would probably not fix something like that mostly just to troll someone like me lol.
  11. Google's epic codec (VP9) strikes again! Glad it's fine now
  12. Have you tried this? It's still weird that this is even happening.
  13. By the sound of things it seems that chrome is being a douche to you. Just throwing this idea out there, have you tried wiping out your chrome installation and installing a new one? Do you use chrome extensions?
  14. Finally got my internet up and running in my new home. My isp lent me a D-Link Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Router for the time being. I think it overheated already after I uploaded around 250 pics to my dropbox lol as the speed went tits up. Anyway, I'm sold on the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 Gonna get it in a week or so.
  15. Wow, didn't expect to find someone who likes this router so much Lucky! After reading Newegg reviews most of the complaints were that it either stops working properly couple of months past the warranty or that the wifi has some issues (such as it starts slowing down download speeds until it it completely stops and then you have to restart the router, or the connection just randomly dissapears). What issues did you and/or your friends had if any? Tomato-based Shibby firmware looks really sexy, very compelling indeed. Might be the first one I'll try out Also, thanks for such a detailed post!
  16. Alright then, I'll look into RMerlin. Thanks!
  17. Nice! Well I don't have any issues with carefully following instructions as I'm one of those people that actually read the IKEA instructions before trying to assemble the thing lol. Do you have any more recommendations on what firmware to install?
  18. Well I won't deny that installing custom firmware on a router would be an interesting project since I've never done it before. On the other hand, what is the likelyhood of me messing up my rather expensive router?
  19. Don't have much of an internet at my new home so I'm slow to respond but thank you so much for your responses! I'm not planning on doing anything fancy like a NAS or WRT at the moment. Port wise, I don't think that I'd need more than 4 or 5. I'm thinking about NETGEAR R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 but I'm worried that it will just stop operating normally after it's waranty. (I could get a 2 year waranty on it) It seems to be a pretty strong router but with the hopes of getting an even more powerful internet in the future it would fit nicely. The only concern - would it make it to that future? Yeah, I inspected the apartment more closely and I'm pretty sure I could place it more strategically so it only needs to pass 1 wall at the most and even then there would be a door in that wall. 600Mbps Hm... As I mentioned above, I'm interested in the NETGEAR R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 but after taking a look into the WikiDevi I discovered ASUS RT-AC68U which is similar, slightly cheaper (slower though), has just as many Newegg reviews but better score. Can't help but wonder that perhaps there are simpler, reliable routers for my needs.
  20. Hello, I'm currently moving to a new apartment and I would like to get a router. I don't know much about routers so I figured I could ask you guys. The new apartment is 79m2 big (one floor) and having wi-fi for the whole place would be nice. It would have to be capable of passing at least a couple of concrete walls, however. I'm ordering 600Mb/s speed internet and I'm pretty sure I won't need a modem. Any suggestions or just pro router choosing tips would be helpful
  21. Would love the keyboard. My mouse could use a change but I always wanted a backlit keyboard and my mouse is pretty cool despite that it looks very worn.
  22. I had a single Samsung 850 EVO 240GB. I had to put in my old 200GB HDD in order to download and play GTA V again lol. Surprisingly, there is almost no performance impact, just a bit longer loading times and a rare very short stutter when you're going really fast in a plane. SSDs for faster booting and loading software in general! If you're using something like MagicDraw on at least a weekly basis - you're going to want an SSD. Does your computer turn on so slowly that you go get yourself a coffee while it's booting up? Do you go fetch a coffee every time you encounter a loading screen in Skyrim? What about that console's loading time in GTA V? Are you tired of the noise of your machine crackling? Have your medical bills risen due to having too much coffee caused by lengthy loading times? Well we have a solution for you! For a low low price you can get an SSD TODAY which will solve ALL of your problems. Not just PC related but ALL of them! Become that hot looking smiling guy with a hot looking smiling girlfriend in the ad NOW by purchasing one of our quality top notch SSDs! Buy NOW! Disclaimer: Doesn't really solve all of your problems and may or may not turn you into a hot looking guy with a hot looking girlfriend.
  23. Tried out Boobs and Soul. Not a big fan of the oversexualization but still a pretty interesting game.
  24. Yep, feudal was the word I was looking for!
  25. Hi, For some reason I found myself wanting to play something that would have that aesthetic. The closest thing I can think of is WoW's Mists of Pandaria of all things. Another game that comes to mind is another mmo called Zu Online which seems to be dead. I'm not looking specifically for mmos but more of a game that has that colorful ancient china/japan look. Do you guys maybe happen to know any?
