  1. A single card is almost always better than SLI. I would go for a 1080ti and sell the 1070 after prices normalize. You could sell the 1070 and game on the 970 now, and make a little money.
  2. I am contemplating purchasing the Aero 15x, and have one major question. I will be using the laptop as a daily driver but also doing some light gaming. I was curious if the 1070 model is worth it over the 1060, even though it has a 1080P 60hz display. I feel like the performance of the 1070 would be wasted, and it would affect battery life negatively. I was looking at benchmarks, and it seems like the 1060 can manage 60fps in every modern title at high settings. Thoughts?
  3. "Cheap tube amps" are not bad at all. Hell a vali 2 is fun to play with and performs quite well. A Valhalla 2 would be an adequate pair with the HD800s. I do believe OP should just buy a pair of HD800s and do the SuperDupont Resonator, making it almost identical to the HD800s for much less, but hey, modding isn't for everyone.
  4. I have 3x Dell S2716DG monitors and have just been using the included stand for now. I want to clear up some desk space though, so I was thinking about getting a triple monitor stand. The problem is most stands can barely support 27 inch, and if they can they can’t be adjusted to a suitable angle. I was wondering if I should go with three single monitor clamps or maybe roll the dice and go for a ergo tech triple monitor stand. 5. I am setting up a home theater system, and want to buy some nice speakers for Christmas. I am going to be using a Denon AVR-S510B, and a Bic America F12, but can't decide on the speakers. I am trying to make a decision between the ELAC Uni-fi UF5 Floorstanding, and the SVS Ultras. Any suggestions would be great.
  6. I would go with a 55inch LG OLED at about $1600, and spend the rest on your PC.
  7. I use both tunnel bear and IPvanish, and both are great. Tunnel bear always connects, and I never have trouble. IPvanish has some issues but the support is great. They also have great software, more servers, and phenomenal support.
  8. I have been gaming on the go more and more recently, using my laptop. The problem is, I have a relatively unportable pair of open cans with a vmoda boom pro that I have been using. I want a more portable solution that includes a mic, and sounds great all around. I am fine with wired, or wireless, whatever is portable. Comfort is important, and so is mic quality. I listen to movies, music, and game on my laptop so I would like a headset that can do all well. I also need it to be closed as my laptop gets pretty loud. Any recommendations? I have been looking at the Sennheiser Game One, and 373D
  9. For a friend, I am looking at a OLED TV and a possible surround sound system. I have pretty much settled on a 65 inch LG C7 TV, but the speaker setup is more tricky. I originally was going to tell him to go with a Dolby Atmos soundbar and sub, but the room is too tall for that. The problem is, the wiring is pretty difficult in the area he is suggesting so I wanted a wireless solution. I stumbled across the Klipsch Reference Premiere HD Wireless setup, and I love the idea. But, the reviews are generally lacking? Any ideas?
  10. I would agree that open cans are superior in nearly every way... I will look into them for sure, do you have any thoughts on the Sony MDR-1A and Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7BK?
  11. I have owned quite a few pairs of open cans, but want to buy a nice pair of closed ones for portable use. I love the sound of my 650s, and also enjoy my X2s, and am looking for similar closed back headphones. Preferably easy to drive with the ability to attach a Vmoda Boom Pro.

    DAC or AMP

Go for the fulla 2, not a fan of the e10k.
  13. I'm not contributing to the thread or anything, but congratulations on your new house, it looks nice.
  14. I have a GTX 1080 FTW and I noticed my graphics card started thermal throttling recently duringsessions of BF1, so I decided to give my PC a full clean, however, I noticed no improvements. I then messed with fans which helped very little, and only when I set fans on the 1080 to 100 percent do I get reasonable temperatures (~75). I was considering getting a second 1080 yet this scares me off, and was wondering what I could do about the high fan noise and such? The EK full system custom loop kits look promising but I already have a Kraken X61 which would go to waste Any suggestions?
  15. I would say 40/60 gaming/music. These headphones will most likely be daily drivers at my desk as well. I do not mix audio so a neutral sound is not needed by any means. I would say I enjoy bass, but I don't want it to be overpowering. Also, would the Schiit stack do well with most headphones out there?
  16. Edit: I've narrowed it down to the HD650's, and the HE-400I's. I was curious about a suitable Dac and Amp for these phones, and I've been mostly looking at the Schiit Stack. I also wanted to know if I should be considering the HD800's, and if they would be worth it.
  17. Haha yeah, a lot of people hate Zeos it seems. And I agree, sound is definitely personal.
  18. I've been an audio euthanasist for some time, however, I have never owned a great set of open headphones or even a decent set of closed headphones. Currently, I use my Phillips X2's, which I love, however, I am looking for something new. I also own a pair of AKG K7XX's which I never use and also have seemingly vanished. They were fine but did not compare to the X2's by any means. I am definitely going to buy the HD650's, but from here I don't know. I have a budget of around $1000, really flexible, but of course the lower the cost the better. I have been looking at the HD800's (Not S), HE560, and HE-400I. I have looked at the HD800's for some time, and they look great but I watch ZReviews, and he seem's not to like them. I honestly think our opinions and preferences are mostly the same due to other headphones I've had and tried. Generally, though, the reviews seem generally positive, which makes me conflicted. The HE560's and HE-400I also look great but any personal opinions would be great. I am also looking for a nice pair of closed headphones, and I've been looking at the HD 8 DJ, and the Shure SRH1540. Both seem to be what I want but again, any personal insight or advice would be great. Based on my loose preferences can anyone steer me in the right direction? As far as Dac/Amp goes, I'm probably going to buy a Schiit stack, the Magni 2 and Modi 2, but I'm open to all recommendations.
  19. Hi all, I would first like to apologize if this isn't in the correct thread. Recently I bought a laptop (Sager NP8157) and I generally do like it, however, I don't think it fits my needs. I bought the laptop with the intention to travel with it, however, it lacks in that department as it has a short battery life (~3 hours), a bad trackpad, and just a bulky design in general. This was my first gaming laptop purchase so I made a few mistakes in what I should prioritize. I am most likely going to sell the laptop. I am by no means in a rush to sell that laptop, and I have months to find the right buyer. I am just curious what it is worth, and if I could get away with selling it and purchasing a new laptop or spending the money elsewhere. I paid about $2100 for it. 20. My parents are both into photography and haven't bought a camera in 7+ years. They are not beginners but not the most tech savy. They do more photography then videography for sure, however they are definitely starting to take more videos. I do know that they want a relatively portable camera, and the budget includes the lens as well (or multiple lens if budget allows). Low light cabbalilties are necessary, autofocus is important but not a deal breaker. Generally, I would priorize photo quality over video quality, but a good all around camera is necessary. I was looking at the Panasonic LUMIX GH5 and Sony A7S II. And as for lens, I am lost. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  21. That's true. Honestly a great option. Pretty killer technology.
