I'm eyeing up the Gigabtye G1 970, the lack of plate on the msi is putting me off, also I found this comment about the asus from Bit tech that might be uselful for some

One issue we did notice with the ASUS card is that it initially wasn't boosting as high as we'd have expected. We noticed that the fans didn't seem to want to spin beyond 42 percent, apparently prioritising low noise over boost frequency. As such, we set the fans manually to 50 percent, which saw a higher and more constant boost clock emerge. The downside to this is that the fan speed is locked, and won't slow down or enter its passive mode, even when idle.

chingpot reacted to MumboJumbo in Closed or semi open/open headphones for FPS.....
Open-Back headphones tend to have a larger soundstage. That means sound waves do not get as congested inside the ear cup compared to closed back headphones.
What that means is you have better seperation and a more "spacious" sound. So you can pinpoint what is what, and some frequencies do not get veiled by others.

Some closed headphones have bigger soundstage than others, but they're not really made for that. Open-Back headphones dominate that area.

You could youtube how to setup MSI AB OSD - makes it easier than typing
    Topleft corner
    I have text
    (Ive renamed them also)

    290-OC Coremhz / MemMhz / GPU.Usage / Vram.Usage
    FPS - ###

    MSI Options - Monitoring
Tick what you need (Core/mem/usage/mem usage) rename accordingly - set each setting to use in OSD
MSI Options - OSD tab - set F9 to toggle - f10 to block/re-enable manually (blocking is good to not clash with other OSD's)
There is a 'more' setting under OSD tab, click this to see OSD control panel (down bottom change color to suit)
Lot to take in, sure you'll manage.

    *Cough* *Cough* Muffled suggestion

Upload another manufacturers bios to your #2 (One thats unlocked)
If you screw it up, switch to #1, backup bios via GPUZ, reflash #1 to #2 again.
Keep flashing #2 with other bio's until your voltage unlocked.
(Note of caution from my past -  Flashed to a diff card - HDMI port can disable itself until windows boots/starts with some other bios on it, meaning you cannot see/get to bios under HDMI, so grab/use spare DVI/VGA cables too)

Ive read my voltage isnt locked on this card and using the bios 1, but good point I dont know if it is actually changing when ive adjusted it in afterburner, 1.3 is the max in AB

just opened up hardware monitor to see if the voltage changes on next test.........

Performance difference between x16 and x4 are negligible. In the first graphs you can see even with x16 and x16, x16 and x4 aren't that behind framerate wise (if you look at the 3770k using x16 and x4 in Crossfire compared to the 3930k using x16 and x16). With 7950's you are still using a Crossfire bridge, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue.

chingpot got a reaction from i_build_nanosuits in INTEL Pentium G3258 for gaming
This CPU looks good in bench graphs/tables and yields great fps when overclocked next to premium Intel chips but one thing alot of people are not mentioning about this is the big frame time variance, you will get alot of spikes and stuttering, doesn't matter how high you clock it and how good the fps looks in benches. Actual gaming performance is what matters, and if you like super smooth gameplay and are a wanna be pro FPS player or whatever this might not be for you. Just playing devil's advocate here, I know its a steal at the price and if you wanna get your toes wet overclocking for the first time go for it, but for gamers on a budget it might not be what is expected.

    Just my thoughts....
